At 3:50 while talking about the Shockwave and "shooting it is another story", agreed! HOWEVER, let's not forget 20ga. I have the Remington. Tac-14 in 20 ga. Inside most any home you lose absolutely nothing in terms of effectiveness and lethality, and you gain manageable firing. Way better than 12ga. IMO

I personally went for a bullpup variant

In my opinion the shockwave is useless for home defense. It's better than a sharp stick but that's about it.

An 870 was the premier pump choice 5-10 years ago. The mossberg 500/590 have been far superior in manufacturing quality for several years now. Even the Maverick 88 can be argued as better than current 870s
Also the ‘racking the slide to scare away intruders’ is absolute fudd lore and has been disproven on multiple occasions.

Agreed.. Until freedom group came along the 870 was a much better quality shotgun. Now that REM Arms has taken over I have been hearing better things about the 870 time will tell on that. I personally prefer Mossberg ergonomics from the 88 to the 500/590. The action release is a more accessible. Thats also why I prefer the Winchester 1200-1300 to the SXP, and the Stevens 320.

How has it been disproven on multiple occasions? Countless criminals are reporting that they have run away from the home they are attempting to burglarize after hearing a gun chambering a round while in a person's home. A firearm chambering a round has been used in countless situations that deterred a criminal from proceeding with their criminal activity. Is it the best way to do it? No, probably not, you should always have your home defense weapon loaded with one in the chamber, but when people continue to say, "This is fudd lore, it has been disproven", I would really like to see the first had accounts that it has been disproven. If it has even worked one time, which I know it has, then it worked.

@@JohnDoe-zg6fn you’re mistaken on two parts.
One racking a side is not guaranteed to send a criminal running, it is absolute fudd lore. Can it happen, sure, has it happened yes of course, but in no way is it guaranteed and certainly not enough to base an entire home defense plan upon this strategy.
Hundreds if not thousands of first hand accounts exist where racking the side alone did not stop the attacker. Simply talk to active and retired law enforcement, there are dozens of videos right here on yt discussing this very topic as a myth, read through comments on nearly any home defense shotgun review video and it’ll be in there too, listen to podcasts of real defense encounters etc.
Two; most anyone with knowledge of shotguns does not recommend storing them with a round chambered. Reason number one shotguns are not drop safe. Reason two shotgun safeties only prevent the trigger from being pressed and they do not have a hammer or firing pin block. Storing them loaded is generally considered a poor decision, which is partly where this lore of needing to rack originates.
All this info is available at your fingertips, you just have to look.

I’ve hunted birds for years so the idea of a RMR or any tactical sight is counterproductive. Shotguns are pointed not aimed. If you never learned how it works it probably won’t make sense to you but fact is it’s way faster and accurate enough to hit fast moving targets at 30 yards.

12, 20, 410 gauge for home defense in rifle format..?

I recommend creating a meat target simulate a human torso stand back 20 ft and shoot it with 12 ga bird shot. just one shot is all that's needed and then you tell me Bird shot is useless for home protection, it might not be your ideal shotshell, but it is far from useless. With that said #4 buck or 9shot 00buck is my ideal round also. And the other thing I always recommend is when you buy a defensive shotgun practice shooting it. Bare minimum, get to an indoor or outdoor range a handful of times a year to know your weapon, it's limitations and your own.

I have a 1301 and I'll say 8 rounds of birdshot on target in less than 5 seconds makes a hole. 🤔😂

Ah, the ‘old rack it’ to scare them away myth. Are you sure you guys know anything about self defense? Also, If you have to rack your self defense gun, you’re doing it wrong.

Out in the county. People do know that sound. An unarmed meth/crack head breaking in a house or barn. Will leave if they hear a shotgun rack a round.
Bounes is. It will keep you out of prison for shooting an unarmed burglar.
Downside. If they too are armed. They now know where u are. They only myth is when people believe it will always work .
