      Hey Sarah,
I'm sorry that you've been going through these things. I came to this sermon because my sister has had a lot of problems with anxiety and other types of mental illnesses... sigh!…
Sadly it has been about three years that we've been fighting this battle...
I'm not a doctor, neither a pastor, but I've tried to help my sister with her illness, which has lead me to understand at least a little bit about this topic…
I don't know exactly what you have been going through, but I'd suggest you to at least talk to a pastor or a leader of your church about this problem that you've had, in case you have done this already, but haven't found a solution then I'd suggest you to go to a psychologist (ideally a christian one)… I know that the idea of going to a psychologist isn’t the most popular, but try to keep in mind the principle that pastor mentioned in the sermon; if you break a leg you won’t be ashamed to go to a doctor and you won’t just pray about it… so, as hard as it’s to accept it, our mind is also a "part of our bodies", which sometimes needs professional help.
The same way you would not try to treat a broken leg by yourself or with the help of family and friends only, please don’t try to fix possible problems that you may have in your mind by yourself or with friends and family only neither!… there are professionals who studied years to be able to “heal” broken legs and the same goes for problems with our mind!…
I know that it’s different; one can’t really go on with life as if nothing was happening having a broken leg! But that’s pretty much what we do, when we go on with life having a problem in our mind, that we can’t really fix on our own…
That’s why I believe it could be very helpful for you to first try to talk to a pastor or a leader from your church about your problems, and try to get help, if that doesn’t solve the problem, then I’d recommend you to look for a psychologist (again, ideally a christian one) who could then use all of his or her professional experience and knowledge to help you to get better!:)
      There's the possibility in which your brain, hormones, etc… could be affecting your feelings, perceptions, desires, etc... and that might only (humanly speaking) be curable with the help of medicine. Which again, at least in my opinion, tends to trigger a rejecting reaction on people when they hear about medicine for their minds… but back to the example of the broken leg;
Ok, the person goes through the medical procedures, has his or her leg put back together, but then normally the person receives some pain killers, I’m assuming antibiotics, etc… some medicine… Some people, do have some things against antibiotics, but more about the dosage… the point is; most people would not have a problem taking medicine for the healing of their formerly broken leg… which is a part of our body, just like our brain with its components that “mixed” in a very specific way works amazingly well, but sometimes, for diverse types of reasons this chemicals (“components”) can be out of order, and that’s when medicine for our “mind” comes into the picture.
From what I’ve understood the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists is basically that psychologists can “only” talk to you and try to help “from the outside” of your mind, but psychiatrists have also learned how these chemicals in our brain work, and they're kinda like a painter. In a very basic example; psychiatrists know that mixing yellow with blue gives out green, and that if they see a green color, they also know, that yellow and blue have been mixed at one point to get to that color…. again, that was the most basic “definition” of what psychiatrists can do with the help of medicines.
So if for example; in a talk with a psychologist he or she recommend you to go to a psychiatrist, from what I understand, they are pretty much saying, that maybe the chemicals in your body might not be correctly adjusted, so since psychologist can’t say exactly which ones, what other chemicals and in which amount you should mix in to get the “perfect” order of everything again, they’d send you to a professional who learned how to do that, who can examine you precisely to try understand what exactly is off and what could bring things to harmony (chemically speaking), so then they would prescribe you medicine to help your chemical levels to be balanced, so that you could be better able to control your emotions and yourself as a whole!
There are cases in which a person may be a possible danger for him or herself and or to others, and in these specific cases, a psychiatrist could suggest that this person should be medicated and kept under observation in a hospital, which can sound bad, but think with me; a psychiatrist at least from what I’ve experienced would only suggest such measures in case this person’s behaviors were to be harmful for themselves or to others, and in that case, if one is really honest, it actually is better to have this person treated in a place where he or she will be safe and where his or her loved ones as well…
      Sigh…
Life isn’t easy!… at least not always… sometimes it might feel like never!… but 1. it doesn’t have to be easy, we can “just" get stronger to face it adequately;) and 2. With God’s help and with the advanced medicine that we have nowadays, we can literally witness wonders in our lives!!!!! and in the lives of the people we care the most, because as you also mentioned kinda in reverse; if we feel better and are able to love ourselves! theN, loving others will be much easier!!!:DDDD
Everything that I said summed up in 3 basic steps:
      Talk to a pastor or leader at your church and follow their suggestions - in case it doesn’t fully solve the problem;
      Talk to a Psychologist and follow his or her suggestions - in case it doesn’t fully solve the problem;
Talk to a psychiatrist and follow his or her suggestions
      1a. pray at all times;)
Sigh!:))) I hope that this could help you at least a little bit somehow!:)))
It’s sad that we sometimes go through really hard times in our lives, but I believe that at least one of the reasons why God allows it in our lives, it's because, in the end; we are all pretty much the same, going through pretty much the same things, so if God allowed us to go through something that wasn’t that pleasant, I believe that we should first work together with God (and professionals depending on the case;) so that we can first get ourselves healed, we grow from that and then we can share the helpful parts of our journeys with other people who may be going through similar situations in their own lives!…. As pastor said in this sermon; we aren’t meant to do life alone!!!;)
So, from your brother in Christ, here it's what God may have allowed me to go and grow through to maybe be sharing it with you today!:))
May God continue to bless you!:D
Be strong and very courageous!!!! in the Lord always!!!!
      Bye!:)
      Have a great life!!!:DDDD

Father, in the name of Jesus. Bless, heal and deliver them from sickness and disease. May you speak to their spirits and heal the rejection reminding them that you love them and hear their hearts cry. As we are now "shelter in place" let them abide in the secret place of your presence. Let them tap into the right ministry via stream during this time. As you lead them Lord to reach out again to a Pastor for the human voice and distant touch if compassion, let them experience Your love thru whom they reach out to. Let the church walk in the fruit of the Spirit according to Gal. 5:22. Lord, You said that many are the affliction of the righteous and that you will deliver them from them all. Lord, send forth Your word and heal their disease. You are the Lord, their healer.
God loves you and has given you His precious Holy Spirit. Trust the Lord and know He's with you and promised to never leave nor forsake you. You're not alone! God bless you both.

Presently I've been under attack from the enemy like never before and I cry out to Jesus. I feel I'm just holding on to the side of the boat and i'm in the water. It hurts so badly (physically as well as mentally) during some of the panic attacks I just want to die, but I cry out to Jesus and I keep on. Oh Jesus! Please come for us now!

My Granddaughter, Abigail, 7 years old, recently diagnosed with ADD, borderline personality disorder with outbursts, schizophrenia.... she's had to tolerate so much in her precious short life. Abuse, neglect... I was raised to belief that these illnesses do not exist. That everything is a demon or "you just need to spank your kids and make them behave". Or some other thing like don't put up with that.. I believe in balance.. but mental illness IS real. And God has solutions for each and every one of ALL diseases. Sometimes it takes time and planning and figuring out the best plan for each individual. Let's take that time, talk to and listen to our kids, friends and everyone.. let's continue to seek God and pray earnestly for everyone. I love ya'll. Ending your life is not the answer.

Great word Pastor Miles. Especially the part about feeling like you can't work for God when you feel depressed, ill, etc. First, let me say that I reached out to my church and my brothers and sisters online (one of who attends your church) when I was diagnosed with depression. I am on the prayer team at my church in Bothell, Washington, and I feel God's presence best when I'm praying for other people. And I've had people come back to tell me they received healing. God uses broken people! It gives Him ALL the Glory, because we know it isn't us that healed them!

This sermon just popped up in my feed. I watch Pastor Miles and have been to The Rock Church a few times and I loved it.
I’m in Az so can’t continue in person.
God knows I needed this today. I have been struggling bad for years I can recall back to 2005. My mental health issues are due to my traumas in my life I’m sure. I now see they are spiritual attacks.
Please I encourage anyone to get help right away if you notice any signs of mental health issues.
If your unsure talk to your dr, church, family, friend. Don’t hide it and don’t let it go on thinking your strong enough to battle it on your own. If I could go back I would of received help right away because now my mental illness is at its worst and please get away from anyone toxic they feed your mental health issues too.
I know God can heal but now that my mental health gets in the way I can’t think clearly as before and it affects my every day. Especially my relationship with God. I am also dealing with a physical illness now it’s affecting my autonomic nervous system and possible have an autoimmune condition now. I’m not a dr but I know some is due to my mental health.
Drs aren’t able to figure out what’s going on w/ me and all the symptoms I’m having have them stumped. I have yet to have a diagnosis of my illness.
But I do know that Jesus is at my side. I’m waiting on Him because it’s all I can do at this point.
There have been having many suicidal thoughts because I’m not receiving the help I need from my drs and I’m tired of feeling this way but as soon as I get a diagnosis on my physical symptoms in what’s going on I will be back in counseling/therapy to help as well.
I’ve tried medications they don’t help me but add to the side effects Because I do not do well on medications I feel they are toxic to my body and now have made me feel worse.
Love to you all and please try to keep your thoughts
Focused on Him. Take every thought captive. He’s the true Physician and healer. Believe me I’m trying to stay in this truth too.

Hi my name is Pauline. 32 years ago I was diagnosed with mental illness. It was hard for me to accept this. The doctor told me that I would have to be on medication the rest of my life. I prayed constantly to God about this. I taught that I must have sin in my life. I asked God to search me and I also searched my own life, but I could not see any sin. I came off the medication many times, just to have the doctors put be back on the medication. To date, I am still on the medication. However, I have decided to trust God and live for HIM and do what ever work HE has for me to do. I am asking for prayer. I feel in my heart that God wants me to go back into the hospital and lead an exercise class for other people with mental illness. I do believe also, that I am working "undercover" to bring the gospel to medical professionals in that hospital. Thank you for your prayers.

Jesus Christ has the power to heal you. im not the religious type. i didnt grow up in a Christian home and the way I have been walking isnt the steps God wants me to yet God is good to me. I at one time considered myself "agnostic". I dont know what I am, but I believe In Christ as savior.
everytime I call to God for help I am quickly answered. pray for me, I too had been diagnosed with "major depression" suicide did go through my mind, and i was just a void with hopelessness.
Instead of acting that way I seeked out for help which is what i recommend most. but what gave me peace is the whole book of John and the eternal promise of Christ.
pray for me so that I can walk in Gods ways & pray for people that deal with anxiety and depression and any mental illness.

Hello Pastor, I was overwhelmed and moved by your preaching on mental illness I know it was uploaded 6 years ago I will still take a moment to pray for the family that lost there love one and your dear friend. I recently believe that God granted me the decerment, to the truth of what lies inside my ex husband mind and reveal to me he is a Narcosist taught and instilled by his parents as a young innocent child that was only taught he is not ,has never been, and will not ever be loved which is a Lié God loves him and I still love him. After 12 years took it's toll and we have been seperated for 8 yrs now in a recent visit to a family members wedding I saw him and this time it clicked. All this years I knew something was terrible wrong but I did not know what it was the mental illness suffocating, it's a constant pain, it is treating people vendictavily and everyday of his life I have now truly realized the demons that torment him every day of his life the hatefullness he feels, I have forgiving him for all the wrong he did to me and have forgiving myself by asking God to forgive me ,not understanding the depth of his mental illness. We live far apart he is in Puerto Rico and I live in TN which is the only reason I don't see him i can not tallk to him about giving his pain to God God will forgive everything he can start the path of healing .So I pray every single day how could I not ,when I have learned of his suffering torment and his dismise of beeing a Narcosist. You preach that we need to stop the lies need to stop acting like we do not know of these things that we are to help one another that we are to love one another and to not just sit ignore and pretend we do not know. But God gave free will to all of us each one has to make the decisión to call out to the Lord and ask Lord I need help I can not do this any longer help me heal me. at this point once I spoke to God I sent him several recordings letting him know he was victimize as a child and I understand why he believed I could never love him since he was never loved it is imposible for him to believe I could ever love him. He rejected me because that is all he knows to do. They hate themselves, but they don't admit, making imposible to get through them when we offer to help. After i sent the videos letting him know that allthogh we could not be together as a couple I know of his mental illness and if he wanted to reach out I was here for him and that God is standing by ..no calls no news that was about 3 month ago. So no matter what he thinks I will continue to pray even in the distance I believe God hears my prayers and I only wish he can one day soon acknowlege, accept it is a mental illness he does not need to feel he is alone. I wait I wait believe God hears my prayers. I JUST want him to start the path of his recovery he is 40 and if he lived to be 90 my only wish is that he has overcome this terrible pain he can live a much better and happier life since doing nothing is only his own demise of a very very lonely and bitter life. I don't know what else to do but I have thought and fear of him commiting suicide because he diesnt even love himself and destroys himself everyday with all of these characteristics. Worse part is the one person he needs to go zero contact is his mother which they say they view there children as pawns manipulated there lives I dont like what she did to him I know one way or anothe a lot at least for sure she continúes to fire up up his insecurities I pray for her too the Bible says pray for your enemies. I was blinded , but I see know everything I pray he too stop be blinded by his mother and break free , Hard it's going to be Hard she has him where she always wanted him by her side. If there is anything else you can advise me on i will graciously accepted to do, Sometimes I fell so helpless like I should do more.. Blessings to your family to your daughter you mention she had depresión blessings to the Church you choosen by God to preach his word. Last thank you for your honesty in sharing your trials drug additions what you been through it takes courage to share that , I pray my Louie with Gods help finds his inner courage and strenghth to do that so he can realized no one is perfect we are all sinners he deserves to be happy and break out of this infernó that torments his mind and soul each day. Amen God Bless you in Jesús Name

Beautiful message!! Thank you God for having me find this video! This vital and important topic. Lord it's only by your grace I'm still here. I've suffered depression my whole life. Thank you, for Mental health care Drs. And medications, especially for those of us with a chemical imbalance. Many Christian's have been sooo ignorant of this topic!! They always make it seem like if you are a Christian, that you shouldn't have depression.

I never really talked about it to anyone, never been dignosed and I only talked to the School Couselor once. I've been suffering for years. Recently, I had an accident with fractured my front teeth. I had a lot of things going on and it was too much for me. I cried secretly over weeks. I don't have a good faith. I worry a lot. I'm scared and I don't know what to do. I'm so desperate to the point of actually balming myself for what happened. I wished that my front teeth would grow back and a lot of scenarios went in my head. I had nightmares of that incident and I'm still in the process of forgiving myself. Thank you for sharing this message. God Bless your Church!

this is such a sad situation and my prayers go to the family and the church in this time. however I think sharing this message needs to be handled with care because there are those out there that contemplate suicide and and deal with illness and the scripture and warning specifically with Judas as the son of perdition is the only thing keeping them from going through with it. so please be careful with this. sin is forgiven with repentance and grace.. how do you repent once you have died? grace doesn't give freedom to sin..Dont let the devil win!. If there are some struggling with this please do seek help and cry to God get into the word and reach out! God bless all

Ali P imho if you are ill in the mind God does not corner you in a religious box. some are sicker than others just like a physical illness or deformity. Are you saying that the perfect sacrifice of Jesus is not powerful enough to cover someone who commits the sin of suicide? Because then you basically have a works based understanding of salvation. What if the day I die I am cursing someone in traffic and have a car accident and die? Do I go to hell because I called the other driver an idiot? Or because Jesus lived a perfect life and is the only holiness that Father God will accept I will be accepted by God into heaven for eternity. Jesus said cursing someone is the same as murder.
Secondly as someone has pointed out taking one's own life when suffering from a mental illness is part of a disease. I agree its similar to cerebral palsy as it's like a disability of sorts. When someone has cancer and they try radiation and chemo and surgery and get a bit better but aren't fully cured its extremely demoralizing. Then when they just cant take it anymore and refuse further treatment so they can just die in peace after fighting for so long. Is that a sin? Even if we believe in healing which I do, Jesus and the disciples didn't condemn sick people for the hopelessness they feel around their sickness. Like the epileptic boy in Matthew 17. He threw himself in fire when having a seizure. Jesus didn't tell him he was sinful and didn't value his life. He was sick. He actually rebuked his disciples for not having faith to heal the boy. The same with cancer. If there is a church member or family member who has faith for healing then great. But the person suffering with cancer barely has faith to brush their teeth that morning.
Yes what Judas did committing suicide was a sin. But he had not placed his faith in Jesus yet. Did you know Elijah and Job also asked God to die. They were suicidal. And God did not rebuke them.
Most people suffering with depression get helped by medication but its definitely not a perfect solution. Most people get only slightly better with meds. I am suffering with depression now for 4 months and the meds help me feel from a 30/100 to a 45/100. Still not great. From my experience and the research out there the most other helpful things are:
      1) Physical aspect (improve sleep, eat healthy, anti-depressant meds to fix the chemical imbalance, do more exercise, reduce stressful situations)
      2) Social aspect: (need support and love from empathetic, kind people to help them heal: cell groups, support groups, family and friends who can listen and pray for them)
      3) Emotional aspect: (Psychotherapy helps tremendously to understand the illness and some root issues from childhood and the effect of current traumas. Counselling with church counsellors also helps.)
      4) Spiritual aspect: (Yes depression definitely has a spiritual element and this needs to be addressed. prayer, worship, meditation, biblical truth and deliverance all help people with mental illness)
It's a complex illness that is multifactorial need a multifaceted approach to healing.
Many who commit suicide I can guarentee were only given 1 or 2 of the options above to help heal them.
I have only started healing from my depression by engaging in all 4 areas of help and health.
Hope this helps you understanding the complexity of this disease.

@@daynehaworth9258 man, this is why I fuckin hate religion. Everybody think they know how to be healed from mental illness. If your brain still operates like that then no, no you are not fucking healed. Are you guys spiritual or on crack??? Tell that story to someone with schizophrenia, autism, ADHD, man, you suffer from depression and that is it. That's nothing, that's ONE of my symptoms and you can't compare physically sick people to the mentally ill people, they don't have to take mental pills to have their marbles together, especially the physically sick people who don't have permanent sickness unless it's hereditary. You can't cure majority of mental illnesses and you can't pray it away, either.

I have schizophrenia. I don't like sharing that to anyone outside therapists and psychiatrists and certain family members. At a young age I dabbled with the witchcraft opening my third eye and other things. I don't know enough about the third eye to tell people not to open their third eye. I was also bullied alot in school and schizophrenia runs in my family. I have renounced the old way of life and am trying to walk right with God. I would tell people to pray to God talk to him in a respectful way like you would a person read your bible. Know your triggers there are certain music I dont listen to and certain movies I don't watch. I would like to but these things aren't always good for me. Know your triggers. Don't take your own life because it is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Do things that make you feel positive. Read. Your bible listen to gospel music exercise Crochet draw learn to play an instrument make necklaces watch funny movies talk to a therapist journal. Do something positive. Talk to someone. Talk to God . Read in bible book of job. Watch movie bruce Almighty with Jim Carey and. Morgan freeman. God bless and heal you.

    Amen pastor!!!
Thank you very much for sharing this powerful message!!!!
I'm really sorry for your loss in the church!... wishing his family comfort and strength!
And thank you very much for the "ABC" of salvation!!! I've often asked myself, what should I pray with a person who wants to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior... but I think that with this acronym I'll remember what to say with the person so that they can be saved!!!:DDDD
Once again! Thank you very much!!!:DDDD
See you in heaven!;) but I hope to meet you one day here on earth as well;) or on a flight somewhere;p hahahahaaha (technically in heaven again;) hahahah

I was told by a pastor but I'm not healed from my bipolar because I don't have faith, and the Bible says without faith it is impossible to please God. Therefore I am not pleasing to God in my current state.

My sister was abused by "my dad" , and actively abusing my sister. While being a Pastor. This has caused alot of issues with me. I battle w self harm now. The physical abuse has stopped bit they're is still manipulation and belittling of my emotemotions. I feel like I'm in the twilight zone and I'm crazy. Any advice would be helpful.

Can someone please explain to me where the Bible says that we will be burdened, but it will not take over us? I'm having trouble finding that particular verse but I'd really like to know what exactly it is. This pastor referenced it in his sermon
