    I'm Russian, and this law has been met with criticism even in my homeland. There is a history of violence towards women in my family: psychological, financial, physical, sexual. Many women experience abuse here, but decide not to tell for several reasons:
    First of all (but not the most important), we have a saying -- не выноси сор из избы. "Do not air dirty linen in public" would have the same meaning in English. When there are problems at home, you don't discuss it with people outside family. Then, women might not divorce abusive husband (or even report abuse) because "my son needs to have a father in order to grow up a real man", "at least my husband is not an alcoholic/unfaithful", "I want my kids to have a full family", "I don't have a job to feed my children" or "well, he said he was sorry, and I still love him, so I forgive". So consider that the statistics gathered from the women who talked about abuse might be the tip of an iceberg.
    The politician in the glasses is known for his orthodox views, and he often speaks in favour of the Russian church and traditional family views, and he is very vocal against homosexuality (or any sexuality besides being straight) or something that "poses threat to Russian spirituality". He gets fun made of him on the internet because of his radical propositions (make childfree a psychological abnormality and public declaration of it -- extremism, sell sex toys only if doctor prescribes them, block dating websites, create "day of fighting against abortions", create a patriotic order and make it mandatory for children to join it [and make them wear patriotic scarves on the neck], and many more). I didn't mention him personally going to LGBT events and trying to ruin and close them down, because meh that's not even a surprise.

      "my son needs to have a father in order to grow up a real man" I'm from the America where women have the father removed by the courts so they can simply "Trade up" and collect a check each month from the government while they do so. The boys who grow up without a father either grow up to be extremely violent robbers,rapers,killers (20x more likely to go to prison) or cuckolds who like watching foreigners take their women.

    I once met a Russian Woman while I was on vacation. She walked up to me and asked me for a drink. I ordered a tequila from the bartender for her as she was having trouble speaking english. I believed she thanked me and proceeded to enjoy her drink. She was just in the middle of asking me something else when an angry Russian Man walked up behind her and Slapped her full in the face.
    I got up to separate them as he proceeded to slap her again across the face. The sound of his hand striking her face was like thunder. It echoed throughout the resort. My friends and I were able to separate them and call security but she walked off to him. He grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back into their hotel. We last saw them being chased by security into the night.
    100% true story
    This is why Feminism needs to exist. Every Modernized country has gone through this situation and made laws to protect women once women are allowed the opportunity to organize themselves. Seeing what Russia's idea of Family Values is truly chilling when witnessed first hand. If you had a Daughter who married a Russian Man and decided to move there to be with him, would you not want there to be a Feminist Movement right about now?

    • @keithroy7884
      @keithroy7884 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      No, because Feminism is not about equal human treatment, but rather has a far deeper agenda.
      When the Feminist movement started here, I recognized certain disparities and unfair treatment, and believe that those were wrong and opposed them. As things progressed, and I read feminist founders literature, and learned about the underlying philosophy, I rejected it as well.
      Whenever people in the 1980's asked if I was a feminist, I answered, "No, I am an Equalist."

    • @lovelylychee2255
      @lovelylychee2255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Keith Roy - I don’t know about other feminists.
      But why I personally still claim myself to be a feminist rather than what you’ve claimed is because I think women need to be more uplifted before sex based egalitarianism can be more appropriately pushed for.
      It’s hard to say I’m an ‘equalist’ or an ‘egalitarian’ (sex based for this discussion) when the problem I see is rooted around the notion of females.
      Men are popularly considered as less for being or even potentially being like women. For being “feminine”.
      Being feminine is meant to equate the quality’s that make up a woman, or generals of women in general. Yet it’s often associated poorly, being feminine by men is popularly perceived as weak.
      That notion is twisted. That’s a problem. And it’s from what I perceive to be notions like that, towards issues like male/female treatment, that I struggle to yet call my self an egalitarian.
      But I get your stance, but I can’t unfortunately yet complete agree.

    • @lovelylychee2255
      @lovelylychee2255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Omar TheOwner - I’m a “feminist” and I don’t want domestic violence against men.
      What your perceiving are a number of popular news blown women who hate men verbally and actively hate men. And who then perceive to claim that this declaration of disdain brings women equality. That’s horrid, not true* and just not sensical.
      But then again your comments about the perceived general sensibility of women seems rather sexist. So I’m unsure as to how much sense (you as a person, not as a thing with a defined sex) have.

    There is no excuse for domestic violence anywhere to anyone. As a Russian kid growing up in a Russian family it hurts everyone and helps no one, when I got hit it scarred me for life and made my parents feel bad. My mother being hit by my father is making me scarred and her traumatized and hurt. It doesn't help anyone. Russian families are all like this, I can confirm that 100% every family has experienced violence. The father of the family is always the biggest and most powerful in the family and their wives are suffering from it. It's just not a way to live like that, with pain in silence. But it's hard to change that, nearly impossible, when a whole country works that way and even supports it.

These types of men should be caged and not left for women to deal with alone, manyof the abusers will choose a woman who has no where else to go and make sure they impregnate their girlfriend to force her to try to work it out which it will never ever do, he will never change.

      I remember how a father whose family was at risk of destroying itself. His son had been indoctrinated into mutilating himself and his wife was supportive. At his wits end, he did what had to be done and what God demands to protect his home. He used his God-given strength to enforce his God ordained authority in his home. Since he was in the west, he was punished for protecting his family and while in prison, his son mutilated himself. The story would go the exact opposite way in Russia.

    Mr. Putin, how could you allow this? You do not seem to me to be a man whom could have any respect for a coward who beats women. As I have always had a deep love and respect for Rus folk, I find it hard to "believe" the President or his advisors would be alright with such violence towards wives and mothers. Yes I would agree with the man in this video that Society going down morality wise is a huge problem not just for Rossiya but the entire world.

    According to Russian law, beatings are the infliction of physical pain without causing harm to health and are an administrative offense. If these actions caused harm to health, then this is the intentional infliction of harm to health, which is a criminal offense.

    How do Russian politicians keep people safe when they safe domestic violence is ok? Battered people who wouldn't hurt others live in fear. I am sad and scared for anyone abusive situation. "Normal" disagreements are verbal, NOT physical.
