After watching your technique for rock carving I decided to give it a shot. I had just a small area of rock out cropping that needed to be completed. You made it look so easy and it looked awesome but I doubted I could achieve the same results. I completed the area in just a few minutes and was thrilled with the results. Just wish I would have watched it before i completed my mountain scene as I used mold castings and it took forever. Love your videos and you ROCK. TIM
Nice to see someone mixing the plaster correctly ..I would, when done, add a bit of light brown ink to the rocks. A bit too uniformly gray and white..Though still, great modeling !!
I assume you creating rock faces that are a form of sedimentary rock (ie: weathered limestone and such). A tip if you are representing a rock cut in areas of metamorphic formations (like granite) and you want to show the results of dynamite and such, run long thin drills down along the flat faces of the rock face at various depths. Weather it a bit and it will look like the back half of the drill holes used to drop the sticks of “TNT”.
Yes I frequently use rock molds, but this video was about hand carving. Maybe I should do a video that features blending both methods together next time I get the chance.
Really enjoyed watching your video thank you
Way cool I love how u reuse the leftover stuff
Very impressive indeed, I will have to give this a go. Thanks for sharing the video

Excellent video, question , what brand are the retaining walls or did you make them using a mould
Great tutorial. Do you ever use moldings (or is it mouldings?)?
