In today's video, we walk you through what it was like to play The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild with a mod that lets you play as ZELDA. The great thing about this BotW mod is that it also changes her costumes, animations and even most sound effects.
We made it all of the way through the game and beat Ganon - join us for future videos to see what else we can uncover in this awesome mod entitled "Zelda's Ballad".

Other than Linkle's body proportions being smaller than Link's and see the longer arms have to compensate for it, this is a pretty good mod. If I could figure it out myself I'd play this just to enjoy the outfits.
I'm so used to seeing models just be plastered over the original so seeing Linkle actually reacting with proper facial animations is great, shows that modding starting to get really good.
There’s a mod that fixes the arm problems but it will mess up the physics of some of the costumes.

@@candyxcrazy876 Cause it looks cool, like the replacement for the Flamebreaker helmet went from this clunky helmet to a crown of burning twigs if you look close enough, it looks awesome. I might be horny but I can appreciate cool fashion, I like the new outfits we got in TotK.

I keep seeing some stuff in the comments so I want to clarify things:
- This is a fan mod, so a lot of the text has been edited.
- Linkle is not actually Link's sister. It was a concept, but scrapped since it would conflict with Link's actual sister, Aryll (from Wind Waker).
- Linkle is her own person who believes herself to be the reincarnated hero due to a Compass passed down by her family.
- Debut was in Hyrule Warriors. She dual wields two crossbows.
Personal note: This mod is still very well done imo. Linkle's armor and outfits look great and the mod creator should be proud of the work they put into it. Super cool!
Considering the fact that link is reborn over and over along with Zelda and Gannon, I imagine Linkle could be if gender isn't a consistent thing in rebirth, she's link.

A linkle mod for tears of the kingdom will be so cool but so much of the voice acting will have to be changed because the characters say link a lot in the cutscenes
I’m pretty sure there is a mod that already changes all the text based dialogue to fit for Linkle, as well as a linkle already for the game!
Honestly AI voices are becoming convincing enough when using the original audio as a source. I'm fairly sure that's how they did the Mipha memory in this mod as well, there's a couple of lines where it sounds slightly off so changing everyone to say Linkle should be doable

I don't really know for Zeldink in the mod's canon here. Asking is she remembers "us" could be implying the two of them being in a relationship, as in Zelda and Linkle. I mean, Zeldink is at least confirmed in TofK.

I bet she’ll get fed up one day and be like “stop expecting me to be like Link! I am my own person!”
Linkle just drops being a hero and tell them to wake her brother instead like she dint ask to be a hero she ask to be put to sleep along with her brother so she will wake up with him when he does but apparently zelda's call only woke up linkle for some reason and not link.
That is the literal exact opposite of her character.

Linkle was confirmed to be the backup hero created by Hylia using essence from link in case he died so her believing she is a hero is not much of a stretch.

@@longingsoul1 Dormant. It was only when Hylia witnessed how much Ganon’s reincarnations had grown in strength in hyrule warriors that she woke Linkle up fearful that link may fall. Should Link fall the triforce of courage will reawaken in Linkle granting her the right to wield the master sword and strike ganon down.

Wow! Whoever designed this mod is terrific. It's particularly cool that they changed a lot of character interactions so it would truly feel like you're a different character and not just a palette swap.
It would have been extra wild had they managed to insert some kind of Linkle exclusive content like a side quest specific to her and her story...but I know coding that in would probably have demanded additional extensive work.
I'm certainly in the camp of folks who perhaps would like to play as Zelda for once. It's been awfully strange over the years that we never get to play as her in an official game (not counting those CD-i games, of course) given that the series bears her name. The storytelling could use a fresh take from a different perspective than from some incarnation of Link all the time. (And Linkle is adorable and all...but does she have a identity or personality all her own, or is she just gender-swapped Link in the official game where she actually makes her debut? Nintendo naming her simply "Linkle" sure seems lazy...but then again, creating Wario as an antagonist to Mario was also not exactly wildly inventive either...)

@@portiac6097 I understand that. Having not played Hyrule Warriors, I don't know if Linkle has her own distinct personality or if she's just a female version of Link.
I played Hyrule Warriors. Linkle is actually her own unique character and not just a gender swap. She's a klutzy girl who wields two crossbows and constantly gets lost. She also believes she is the reincarnation of the hero due to a compass passed down in her family she recieves. Comedically, all her missions in the game are side missions that have nothing to do with the main plot, because she keeps getting lost while trying to reach Hyrule Castle.
You guys should do the multiplayer mod that you did for Zelda for Linkle and name the clone Twinkle.

The Windblight fight for Ravioli (Revali) wasn't really fair for him because in Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity he fought him in the night and the Rito can't see very well at night

I figure the Goddesses, when choosing to reincarnate the Chosen Hero one more time, their "finger slipped" and viola, Linkle is born. But Link having a twin sister this generation is also a good story idea too.
That final cutscene had me thinking I was going insane for a moment, until I realized they'd changed the audio but not the subtitles.
The effort that went into this mod is very impressive. I'd actually love to see some of those outfits as genderbend cosplays~!

I find it funny how people make Linkle Link's sister. It is also fitting when "Creating a Champion" has BOTW Link have a sister as well. Link is the Swordsman and Linkle is the Archer. I could easily see a future game where Link has Linkle as a twin sister especially considering that was what she was originally designed for. I have no idea why Aounouma thought that people would mistake Linkle for Aryll.

At 1:44 or close to it you can actually see in the opening cut scene Link is laying right next to Linkle. Which is a nice attention to detail. I do love all the clothing options. They got a cute separate mod that turns her into a Valentine's day Magical Girl with an explosive magical wand & everything.

im a guy whos always been bashed out in life for liking feminine things. I'm not exactly a femboy or anything, i just like 'girly' stuff and I've constantly been put out for it. video games give me a sort of escape from that reality, games where you can dress up your character in nice clothing while also being adventurous and fun gave me life. dressing hyper fem in botw while also trying to be practical ingame was always a struggle for me because i know its stupid but i just really want my in game character to be super personalised and feminine, it gives me a serotonin rush whenever i see my character dressed cutely and stuff like that. i love this mod sm :,)

He said his Fate turned because in a memory, Zelda told knights to take him to the shrine of restoration so he was healed. The master sword was keeping him alive, but since you’re really link he died

love watching you guys go after the lynel in the zora armor when you literally have a stealth suit lmao
There was one thing different about daruk and that’s that when facing him linkle had her arms by her side like a regular person
I have to ask: why did you engage the Lynel with only three hearts and only being allowed to use bows? You can easily just sneak around him with the Sheikah armor, collect the shock arrows, and the head up the mountain without him ever knowing you're there.
Fill your monster compendium in TOTK by unequipping your weapon and shield and taking a selfie with the monster.
