Throughout most of the country's history, the number of foreign-born residents has remained around the 12% mark. So although there has been a steady increase in numbers, that is consistent with the population increase within the United States and honestly humanity in general after the baby boom of the 50's-60's started having children.

In the Uk they get shoved into hotels for increasingly long lengths of time but that’s only because the last government stopped processing asylum claims and they aren’t allowed to work until they are processed. We're just re-enabling border checks. Because so far there are none. You can driver over to the netherlands, get some of those dutch herbs, and drive back.
But the border uplrades I can see are pretty easy
The baltics are trying to prevent the Ukraine thing happening in their area. (Remember Crimea was in 2014, and the baltics were the first to declare independence from the USSR occupation.)
The border at the tunnel is just the french and brits going at it again. And why take a boat there, when you can take a boat from Tunsia to Italy.
Greece and North Macedonia had an argument for a long time (mostly over the use of the name Macedonia")
And Belarus is pretty much small Russia. I mean, the name literally translates as "white russia", they were also active in the war. And they're the only country in Europe with capital punishment.

I'm from Poland and never supported building the Belarus wall. It was a project orchestrated by the then-ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party. However, that didn't help much and the refugees were building up, forced into Poland by Belarussian border guards. The Polish border guards in response started violent pushbacks and so the game of pulling the rope began. Agnieszka Holland directed a heartbreaking film about the situation which was critically acclaimed in the West but not so much here. The then-opposition and more left-leaning party, Civic Coalition (PO), supported her and criticized the pushback practices.
After they took power in late 2023, nothing changed. The pushbacks are as violent as they used to, with no chance to apply for asylum. Holland rightfully pointed it out and critizes the current goverment too. It's infuriating, PO politicians say that the pushbacks are now more "humane". Unfortunately, an overwhelming majority of Poles actually *support* the pushbacks. No one really cares about the lives of the thousands of refugees stuck between a rock and a hard place. They keep dying of starvation, lack of proper medical care, etc. Yet no one bats an eye.

Do much discussion about boarders and illegal immigrants. No discussion as for ehy they are migrating. Maybe solve the problem theybare facing. Last time i checked arabs were being bombed by the west and its allies. And i dont remember the last time mainstrram news talked about subsaharan africa for more than 10 seconds.
Is solving the problem there is to complex for the average: illegal migrant bad, lets build a wall. Opinioned person. Or to they not understand because they are not informed.

Discussing this topic without addressing the reasons behind people's immigration is absurd. We must never forget the impact of colonization by this continent. Using an example like Nigeria becoming wealthy and everyone flocking there overlooks the deeper issues. It's disingenuous to imply that people come to Europe solely for a better and wealthier life. This oversimplification disregards the desperate conditions driving people to risk their lives crossing the ocean. You must acknowledge the colonial past of your ancestors and its lasting effects play a deeper part in this. Its always what is the solution its never what is the problem right?

People are worried about not getting enough from the government, and blaming it on immigration.
I think theres a decision that has to be made, how much immigration is sustinable, how many dependents are allowed and how much money is the maximum we spend on that.
Also how much money is it worth to pay neighboring countries to keep poor people with no skills in language and services out.
Should the eu maybe create a greater economic program to develop underdeveloped countries into middle class countries, along the way sell capital goods and get rich off that, while those countries try to develop their own industries and become a consumer market. The goal is that they commit to becoming developed democracies that bolster the ranks of a free world when dictatorships and autocracies are gaining power.
    Moving up the tech tree
Edit: why do we owe those people?
We owe the border countries money if we want them to keep out people seeking opportunities.
For our own sake, we should try to make it so every neighbor country develops into a strong self sufficient market, while creating opportunities to become tied to European treaties, if applicable become union member to increase the power of the EU 20+ years down the line.
As for the people that slip through and make a living, it is what it is, a small number is no problem. Let's say 1 person per 1000 gets to be the lottery winner and that's the target for how strong borders will be

People only have a limited capacity of empathy and sympathy and my supposition is that all this immigration has severely strained or depleted that capacity that now, EU citizens want them out.
Can’t really blame them honestly. Also seems kind of like a slap in the face to the immigrants who are trying to get in via the legal process.

2:51 I know you don't mean it poorly. But "terrorist" is largely a racist term that is mostly applied improperly to freedom and independence fighters who are legally waging liberation movements, and rarely applied properly to people like, white supremacists shooting up schools or churches. "Mass-murder" "Civilian targetting" "War crimes" and "Political violence" all do plenty of a good job describing the various immoral actions. I understand the purpose of using it in this video and that it wasn't intentionally hateful, but rather trying to make a joke about how these governments genuinely work (which, btw, is often racist, of course). But I personally would refrain from using the word myself or at least being very very careful and precise about it.
