Suarez is being honest and right. Looking at the HR at bat, the main problem was actually that all his pitches that at bat probably leaked over the middle s but too much but understandable when pitching 100 mph. Unlike previous Suarez blown saved this time the pitch location sequence probably isn't the main culprit which is normally the main problem because to hit a 100 mph pitch the batter probably has to be looking for that pitch in a specific location. Actually, several batters in that inning had good appearances l, and both the walk and HR were very long at bats. The White Sox seemed to be well prepared to see Suarez.. Developing a hard pitch with movement might be one possible solution. Suarez's current secondary is a changeup which has been effective but if batters start hunting that pitch it might be slow enough to be hittable. A harder pitch with movement might remain unhittable but remains to be seen. But it should be pointed out that simply locating his fastball better both by sequence and execution should probably be the best solution
Im confused about why some fans are confused about Suarez blowing some saves, recently. The guy's been a stone cold MONSTER for 98% of the season. And fans wonder how hitters are 'clipping' him now?..its because he doesnt have a wide assortment of pitches, first of all..and secondly, they've had an entire season, almost, to figure him out. He's throwing 3 digit heaters, and most guys cant hit it. But there wll always be a few that can. And when he gives you 5 or 6 shots to hit it, sooner or later, a hitter will. He's not lazy or tired, or nonchalant or stupid. Bottom line, he's facing PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS, not beer league hitters. The End.
giving the closer role to someone else isnt a bad thing. you gotta do whats best for the team. i hope mike isnt so stubborn and actually makes the adjustment.
Suarez “we won the game and that’s all the matter “ , excuse us bro, yes we are happy we won too, but your pitching concerns us all. Grand slam to Detroit! Right field bomb in San Fran! We have a right to be concerned
Suarez has proven to be a standup guy after these troubles......we all pray and hope he 'finds' something and can help the team, and the community enjoy a successful postseason!
Great win. Glad the WS took out their starter…. He was outstanding. If Suarez can get command of a secondary pitch - slider change up -- versus heater / two seamer -- he would be unstoppable. Like he said…. They won!
I'd rather see Scott or Morejon or Estrada as closer right now. Suarez doesn't have it right now and the Padres can't afford to risk Suarez in the playoffs the way he is right now.
I love Suarez, always have, but something got to change. He is filthy when he’s on his game, but he has become way too predictable. Honestly, I think Jason Adam is our best bet as closer. Scott is good, but Adam has been a different bread all year long!
Padres leadership might need to change their closer since post season is coming up. There's no room for error on the 9th inning come playoffs because it might cause them the game or the season. Scott or Estrada (eight inning) might be a better option as a closer. Fans are really concern about the meltdown of Suarez lately, and he might need to be downgraded as a 7th reliever or traded because of the money he gets paid. Padres need to keep Scott, Estrada, Adam, Hoeing, and Jacob among consistent pitchers after this season. Just my two cents here. . .
Excellent questions from the reporters, clearly the batters are able to time Suarez’ pitches because he’s not throwing any breaking pitches. His fastball has no movement and with no breaking pitch, he’s a liability coming into the playoffs. The league has figured him out.
No. Not just a slump. It's not a risk worth taking come playoffs. He gave the #9 batter on the Detroits his first career grand slam then today he gave a nobody their 6th homerun and so many more blown saves. Sadly, he is cooked. Hopefully he is accepting and willingly steps down from closer and allow one of our many talented pitchers such as Adam or Scott to become closer. For months it's been embarrassing having that lights out elite grand entrance for him when he constantly comes out giving up hits to people who typically hardly ever hit. He's a 1 trick pony and is a huge liability if he closes for us in playoffs.
You’ve got to be kidding me… are you dumb. ? Suarez is a liability, it was only a matter of time until this happened. He relies on one pitch and speed .if you saw the playoffs in 2022 (you probably didn’t ) then you would have seen him blow a game vs the Phillies to eliminate us
@@_burningdesire__As much as I love him, I think Estrada should have the closing job. We need to stop with the stupid intro for Suarez at the very least.
@@_burningdesire__This is such a bad take. He is cooked? He hit 102 last night. Hitters go through slumps and so do pitchers. His stuff is still excellent. Enough with these bad takes.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ imagine this man coming in to close a game in the playoffs with a one score lead , do you really want that or prefer Adam or Scott closing?
Suarez is ice cold...no emotion...and i like that for a closer...i think they are waiting to make the PS and then he'll include the off speed stuff and be dominant.......well see
So he's blown many saves because he's waiting for PS? Hopefully, Shildt makes the right call and takes him out of that role. We have so many other talented pitchers who can dominate and actually deserve the elite grand lights out entrance that Suarez currently gets. Bottom of the lineup on some of the most terrible teams getting their first grand slams and homeruns off of him. He has one trick, and even the nobody's have figured it out. Huge liability is what Suarez is.
Padres need to get rid of Suarez he chokes when the game gets close wish the Padres would trade or not let him pitch in the last inning, I just think he sucks as a relief pitcher 😢
Suarez is so shackey, I don't trust him with a lead. He is not a closer, he's a 50/50. I want someone who can shut the door, not someone who I hope can get the job done.
We got Tanner Scott for that job, thank you Suarez for all the games but now we need to be sure of all games including postseason

Suarez has good stuff but there needs to be accountability.
Adam has been lights out and needs a look at closer.
Agreed. This team is WS material, we can't afford to waste it all on playoff blown saves. Suarez is faltering and we have legit options.
Topless Tati!
Thank you Marty for all the great work with the videos!
good job coach callin out wade for his earned respect tonight. great play to home.

Guys who aren’t HR hitters are sitting on his fastball and hitting HRs. ERA is 6.14 over his last 15 games. That’s unacceptable

I don't think Adam has closer experience like either Scott or Morejon. He's fine where he is now imo.

I'm not sure why we're walking on Suarez egg shells. You have 8 games to make a change and see what happens.
Robert Suarez will get better just in the slump at the moment.

He throws gas but that’s all he has.

Its seeming like Suarez is losing focus, whats the reason Morejon cant be the guy from here on out?
Time to move Suarez out of closer role.
