    Hi Hugo. Thats a fantastic boat. Smoothest test drive, multi functional layout. Single prop. Sturdy and durable aluminium. Great walkthrough video tour thanks 😊

    Great go through,,,Thanks Hugo... I saw this at Southampton and it caught my eye then. Very solid and practical looking day boat. Nice to have plenty of open deck space and flexible seating not the new norm of multi rows of bench seats like on a rural bus.

    Thank you so much. I always enjoy these tests. It doesn’t matter what boat it is, I watch everything. (PS! At 8:31: the 400hp is not a V8 engine, it’s a straight 6. It still sounds nice though.)

    • @hugoandreae3495
      @hugoandreae3495 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You are quite right, it’s a supercharged straight six not a V8. I’d just been testing a Saxdor 320 with twin 300 V8s the day before and made a slip of the tongue

      I know these boats are built for commuting in any-weather, so literal day boats, but the Axopar also has a two-person berth option so you can weekend in it, explore islands, sleep overnight, etc.

      The XO shines in bad conditions. The Axopar in nice conditions. So the questions you have to ask yourself, is what type of an boater are u? and how are the sea conditions where u live on a typical day out? Do u like the boat to sit on top , or steady planted with more hull in the sea? The more out of the water u get the lower are fuel consumtion at same
      weight, engine power and speed.

  • @holmis71dedmit
    @holmis71dedmit 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    In a perfect world, this XO will mate with the swedish Viggo X8. the offspring will have the inners of the XO and the hull of the Viggo.

    I generally find MBY YT reviews to be well done, but more fuel consumption data at various steady speeds (i.e. trolling, and 10 knot increments) would be useful.

  • @sib610
    @sib610 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It’s not an Aluminium boat, only the hull and the way the fibreglass top joins the aluminium hull is never going to work hence all the problems they’ve had with gaps and movement. If you want a really tough aluminium boat get a Viggo or possibly an Anytec....They’re fully welded Aluminium boats with multiple stringers and strengthening braces that you can’t see....lighter stiffer more fuel efficient..maybe not as frilly as the XS and definitely not as frilly as Axopar.

    • @yvesstocky9936
      @yvesstocky9936 ปีที่แล้ว

      For me it is, since the hull is Aluminum. But it's a matter of definition I guess.

      @@holmis71dedmit I do get it but the modularity is wasting time constantly changing for this and that just like in all those tini homes and tini trailers. Give someone all the cushions in a pile and say go put them together. At least put some colour coding on the snaps or something.

      Yes, they were both founded by the same person. First A(quador), then XO, then Par(agon). Hence the name Axopar.

    Go back to the Hunter Landau of the mid ‘90s (around 22’ with an option of 90hp o/b on the back) and you’ll find another vessel with “ambitious & impractical” heads.
    Southampton Boat Show and I went to see if I could fit in the heads - in the bows with a small circular hatch cover. Another boat struck off the list… I’m 6’3” and I had to pop the hatch and sit on the heads with my head and shoulders now out of the wide open hatch. Privacy was not an option….
    This looks a lovely day boat but once again they’ve tried to fit too much into a small hull. I’ll stick with a Stingher RIB, should I be in the market 🤓🤓🤓

    Someone needs to convince you that the term "funky" is the American English version of "dodgy" which I don't think is what you intend to convey when using the word.

  • @KieranCox
    @KieranCox 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That boat is UNDERPOWERED. Your performance numbers and review are irrelevant. No one goes boating alone. With it's rated 8 person capacity, that's basically another 1300lbs on board then maybe another couple hundred pounds in gear. Now you're talking about a 6000lbs+ boat with one Merc 400.
    It's a nice boat, but at basically $230k US not including all the taxes, it's both overpriced and underpowered

    • @holmis71dedmit
      @holmis71dedmit 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is not a typical lesure boat on flat water. It is built for boaters with rough sea conditions, but the sun is out. Top speed and fuel consumption are not a prioraty. Nor are the maximum passenger capasity. Good luck sitting in the bow area at cruise conditions.

      @@holmis71dedmit Apparently you aren't aware of what this would compete with. Let me educate you a bit.
      Look up the Cutwater 288C also review the Axopar 28, and Axopar 37 XC.
      Then have a look at the ArrowCat 320.
      All of those boats offer a superior value. $230k is far too much money to spend to only have one engine, limited passenger capacity, and very limited speed while loaded.

    • @KieranCox
      @KieranCox 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Heck the Cutware C-24 is far superior at almost half the price...
