  • Join our Leopard hunt in one of the most isolated places on Earth. These areas are extremely big and hard to hunt, the cats are smart and travel all over. It's a big challenge.
    We were unsuccessful in getting a Leopard, but please still enjoy this movie and see how much work goes into a hunt like this. Kabous did an excellent job for Jamy Traut. Although not much was shot during this hunt, it still was an experience of a lifetime.

    Frustrated by the Nambians’ lack of attention to detail around a “bait site”!! The African leopard is one the worlds "super predators”! It was more than likely watching them sour the entire bait area with the freeway of human traffic. They need to read “Into the Thorns” by Wayne Grant and get an idea of how to bait leopards - the proper way! Other than that - great video and sequences and Greg appears to be a good man to have in the camp.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good day Heath. I agree, Leopard is definitely one of the hardest and most special animal to hunt. I've learned over the years that each PH has his own way, and this time it just didn't work out. Cabous is usually very successful on his leopard hunt, and a good guy all round.
      To be honest, I also haven't yet picked up "Into the Thorns", but someday will.

    I question the mentality of trophy hunters.You can't tell me its better to see a dead animal on your wall than to see a picture of a animal that is alive

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Johan, and thanks for your comment. It's not only about a beautiful animal you get to take home, it's so much more, and on top of that is the fact that without legal, ethical hunting, many of the wild areas left in Africa will become full of villages and cattle, and no more wild animals.

    • @johnkertzman3223
      @johnkertzman3223 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Are you willing to pay a $35,000 trophy fee to take a picture of a wildcat? I didn't think so, hunters are will pay that much for a trophy fee on an animal and that money goes directly to the villages, the government, and the Anti poaching teams for wildlife conservation!

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hi Matthew, thanks for watching an for the comment. Everybody on this hunt loves nature as much as you do, and BECAUSE of hunters coming to remote areas like these, there are still wildlife left. Without these guys putting a value to game, ALL wildlife would be poached out, every single one of them. First for meat, second to sell the hides on the black market, thirdly because they can have more goats and cattle if wildlife don't eat all the grass.
      Hunters pay for anti-poaching, waterholes, PROTECTION off game. Not everybody wants to understand this method of conservation, and that's OK. I'm just thankful that some people does do their part to save these animals.
      Thanks again for the comment, I hope you'll watch a few of my other episodes. As soon as Corona is over, I'm releasing some videos of a Rhino Relocation Project I'm part of. @@forevergaming550 No worries Matthew. To be honest, I don't hunt at all, but I love the outdoors and I love filming ethical hunts. Needless to say that nobody doing illegal hunting will allow a cameraman to join him. All the hunts I go with are people who love the outdoors, love animals, and love to be part of preserving it for the next generations. The professional hunters I work with all protect these species. It's as simple as you won't destroy your only source of income. Rather protect and grow it not only for yourself, but for future generations.

    Sooooo did you ever see a leopard much less take a shot at one? Never saw anything with spots just a zebra for bait and sausage taken in this video. 45 minutes of nice video before you ever get in a blind. A PH who says not sure we ever had a leopard come in, what, but we have to make some changes to the blind set up anyway.??? Don’t think I would be very happy to hear my PH say that.....the blind looked like crap to start with. Hunters pay huge sums of money for leopard hunts and for the Outfitter/PH to not have everything ready for the blind and shooting rest to be set up is not acceptable. Folks This video is not what you might think from the title. However, with respect to results it’s what most leopard hunts are actually like. Some people hunt three and four times and not see a cat. Maybe thee is a follow up video where this hunter gets his cat!

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good day Charlie, and thanks for watching. It seems that you aren't happy with this video, I'm sorry about that. Like you mentioned most Leopard hunts are unsuccessful, this is especially true in areas like this one. Our client was aware of this before he booked the hunt, but also wanted the challenge.
      The video title does say Leopard hunt in Kaokoveld, and this is how most of these hunts go. The video description clearly mentions that we were unsuccessful in getting a Leopard, I'll never let my viewers watch 45 minutes without warning them before. You can however enjoy this hunt with us, knowing that this is all reality. Not all hunts are like the TV shows you see.
      Each PH in Africa has a different way of hunting, changing baits, changing blinds. May times I've wondered why on earth they would do something, and then the following night we get a Leopard or Lion. I've learned to follow their lead and trust them.
      This hunt doesn't have a follow up just yet. It is booked for September 2020 in Tanzania and hopefully Corona won't force us to cancel, but only time will tell. I hope you watched the Mozambique part of Greg's hunt also. He hunted many species on that hunt, knowing that the Namibian part would be much slower. Have a look: th-cam.com/video/PrbZxUvSOmo/w-d-xo.html

      African Sun Productions yes I did watch second part or perhaps really the first part of the hunt in Mozambique and found it to be a great video. Respectfully I disagree with what you are saying with respect to the leopard hunt video. The title , at least what the average user can see, does not in anyway indicate that no leopard was taken. One has to depress the down arrow below the right bottom corner of the video to see the more detailed explanation of the hunt video. And yes in that part one would understand reading it that no leopard was taken. I still like your videos.

    • @AfricanSunProductions
      @AfricanSunProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@charlieaustin2818 I'm glad still watch ASP videos! I agree, the title can go either way, but it's still a Leopard hunt even if you don't actually get the Leopard. I'm a bit hesitant to title it something like "failed leopard hunt", since it's not really a fail. This client, among others, don't only come for the success, but for the experience. It's a tough one for sure!
      You mentioned in a previous comment that you have a hunt booked for later this year. I hope it can still happen, that internation travel will open up again and that we can all hunt safely. Where is your hunt booked, if you don't mind me asking.
