As a self confessed Alessandro Gualtieri Fan Boy, I want to go through the entire ORTO PARISI range and share my love for this liquid art form.
MEGAMARE (The Great Sea) is a complex, aromatic, ozonic, musky sea salt masterpiece that needs to be experienced to be understood. This is the one that must be tried on skin, not on a card.
I'm in love with perfume and beautiful smells. I deeply love niche perfumes and find that they are unique and incredibly diverse. I am Marcelo and I'm the Niche Fragrance Collector.

Out of over 2,000 fragrances I’ve tried, Megamare is the most potent and longest-lasting one, I must say.
Whoa, it's clear that you are into perfumes my friend. But I would have to agree that Megamare is the punchiest and most distinct fragrance out there 💥💪🏽🌊

Absolute ridiculous beast of a fragrance. Not a beginner but definitely for someone who wants to smell “different”. This scent changes so much it’s crazy, you think you know it but then something sends you someplace else. Thank you for the Parisi coverage! Side note: good god don’t do more than a few sprays, you won’t need it. I’ll wear this as my signature forever, it’s the absolute best

megamare gives the impression of being immersed in the dark depths of the Atlantic ocean, at first I didn't like it but in the end I bought it, now I love it! I feel some licorice!
Interesting our similar journey on this one Luke. Yes, I too get a sweet aromatic dark licorice note, but only at the start for me......I love the complexity of the Orto Parisi range; exceptional perfumes

Most complex, largest performance of the entire line, sillage off the chart. Literally 2 sprays lasts for 15 hours. I get compliments on this like none other. This is the Fantomas of the Orto Parisi line, you love it but can't describe it, though they are not similar at all. Both are uber unique, massive performing perfumes, attractive to others but after half a bottle of both I still can't describe them. 4 Sprays in Las Vegas during 95 degree day, yeah, I got the look, that we all fear. I gassed people out. Love it. Great review, the darkness, the despair, that is Megamare. Did I say linear? At least to me.
Mate, I love your description and I do think that this is the 'Fantomas' of the Orto line up. Both Megamare and Fantomas polarise people. I also find that on both of these fragrances people initially don't like them but then in time fall deep in love with the complexity and power of these 2 perfumes.

Just added this Gem, I recallI visiting NY and passed by Lucky Scent three years ago. This is where I smelled Megamare for the first time and I recall vividly placing back the blotter down and said NO WAY. Probably three years later, another visit to NY but this time I went with a friend around noon to Luckyscent but didnt focus on his purchases. Later that day we went for dinner, and I kept asking my friend WTH are you wearing !!! Its amazing. He said Megamare, and my NO WAY feelings visited me again. The sillage that Megaamre infuses to your surrounding is unlike any aromatic aquatic scent you'll experience. This now placed my favorite Virdie and Boccanera as my fav Orto Parisi

It was happened the same to me. My first date with Megamare was failed, I told that this fragrance is not for me, I hated it. One week later, it was a rainy day in May and I meet one of my friend. We talked for an hour and I kept smelling a fragrance and it was amazing, interesting, mysterious something. I asked her what she was wearing... She answered: it's the new one from Alessandro, the Megamare. I still remember that time and I adore Megamare a lot. 😜

when i first sprayed this on (lightly) today, my instant thought was Aqua Net Hairspray that my mother used back in the 60's. After that initial throw back, things settled to the oceanic properties, like Aqua without the Net. I'm really glad to have it. It completes my collection of all things Orto and Naso.
This fragrance is freakin crazy! Salty and intense but an absolute room filler. I put it on in the morning and put another 2 fragrances over the top of it throughout the day and by the end of the day megamare was still coming through STRONG

I recently bought a shaving soap and after shave lotion inspired by Megamare. The artisan researches the fragrances well and sources the best materials for his creations, so the reproductions in his products are excellent. I did not know anything about Orto Parisi or Megamare itself...
I lost my mind... Megamare is wonderful and terrifying at the same time. Not for everyone (but then, most niche fragrances aren't, right?). Ι will most probably set aside a budget and get my hands on a bottle at some point. There are a couple of good dupes (e.g. Lattafa Atlas), but of course there is nothing like the original.
It also made me want to explore the rest of the Orto Parisi offerings.
Almost same story here. First time I smelled it, I just said, oh aquatic and generic, I have so many in my collection. After a full wearing I saw this beautiful masterpiece and bought it immediately.

As a female-living in a state in the US that doesn’t get so much sunshine, this scent profile is an absolutely GORGEOUS gift on my skin to my nose and senses. I consider it a plus for my mental health 😊
I’m legit cold blooded-and it still performs, I can’t wait to wear it when it’s warm….it’s sneaky sexy.
Probably my favorite from the collection, for me it was love at first sniff. Such an amazing fragrance, to me it smells like the song Echoes by Pink Floyd. Starting in the bright shallow water with citrusy and ozonic notes and over time sinking deeper and deeper into the dark abyss that is the ocean. A true masterpiece!

I love your reviews, I find them quite spot on. I actually got this as my 1st niche fragrance (quite unusual i know) and I love the smell, it’s quite interesting and while my GF hates it, I love how much this fragrance changes. Though I don’t know which occasions to wear this because of it’s strength it’s just such an addictive DNA.

Final I pulled the trigger and I’m very impressed the scent and the performance is way above average. One thing I love about this fragrance is that I don’t go nose blind when I’m wearing it.
I've ordered a 10ml decant of Megamare, I feel like this should be enough for the whole Summer, haha.

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector so after your review, I was able to sample Bergamask and instantly loved it…so I bought it. I sampled megamare but it’s currently out of stock. I’m also trying to find a place to sample seminalis. I usually prefer sandalwood based scents so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. My collection is not as large as it once was as I sold most of my designers and most of my niche fragrances I stopped wearing. My collection consists of le labo’s, creed’s, tom fords, and BDKs, now adding orto’s gives me that difference I was looking for.

This is NOT for beginners. It is by definition a true masterpiece but only a nose used to true niche will appreciate it. I hsve gotten more compliments with Megamare than almost any other fragrance in my 200+ collection.
I totally agree with you! I would even go as far as saying the whole Orto Parisi range is not designed for “the new to niche” person… they are too animalic and intense that it becomes overwhelming for these individuals (I know it did for me)

you nailed it like you always do! this is indeed a sea monster. to me this is true perfumery at its finest. just like every galtieri creation, you may not like it, but you must apprecuate the creativiry and artistry of megamare. fortunately love this one!..
Love this fragrance. I love the complexity of Megamare, compared to other aquatics. On my skin, I get a cumin like spice at times, that gives a rust, dried salt, sea decay like quality. I have had a lot of kudos on this one.

Yes, I too love aquatics....but this isn't one of them😂 I would recommend that you test out the other 3 that I mentioned, these are 'classic' aquatics. BUT, then you need to test out the BEAST that is Megamare and compare at the masterpiece that this creation is🧡⚡️

Hi Marcelo, loved the explanation on the artistic aspect of the bottle design to the evolution of the fragrance! I have a question. I live in Bangalore, India where the temperatures in summer reach 35 celcius. Humidity is not high (

Good question: I'm going to say yes, but as you mentioned 'control spray' is the key (I know that when I've worn this in high summer it means one spray on my stomach (on skin) and one on my arm....that's it!). I have then worn the fragrance for about 5-6 hours and will do one more spray after that on my solar plex and I find that this will now be a 24 hour experience.
I made the mistake of spraying my normal 3 sprays on the first go, on the spots as mentioned (on a hot summer day here in Melbourne) and I nearly died😵💫 it was way too much in one go!
But I'll be curious to know how it works for you Dheeraj once you get the chance to test...good luck homie👊🏽

I was out for a bit in the morning. Still it survived a whole day and even after I just woke up today, I can still smell that beautiful marinish and power smell. I was surprised by the hint of powderiness, may be it is coming from the calone molecule. Overall I really enjoyed it!

I normally go to Lore Perfumery but they too don’t do samples, however they’re pretty good about you spraying yourself.
When I was testing the Orto Parisi’s I would go in and spray one of the fragrances and wear that for the day and see how it performed on me.

Well said on the interpretation of this fragrance. I am still in the beginning stages on how to understand it. I enjoy the dry down better than the opening. I The wife and daughter think it’s wonderful smelling all around. This is much a mass pleaser, imo. Personally I think Terroni is the best one yet. Cant wait to hear your next review on the rest of the collection.

Yes I understand. This one took a while for me to actually fall in love with.…whereas I fell in love with Stercus instantly.

Great to hear from you @cocopopsbrahhh, thanks for reaching out. I haven't had the chance to test Oud Minerale so can't compare. The best way to describe it as per the visual breakdown that I did, where it starts off aromatic/herbs/slight floral then moves to a sea salt/sea air and then finally it goes musky with slight wood notes but retains the sea/ocean feel to it (did that make it any easier??😂)
It's one that really needs to be experienced as I also know that it's perceived so differently by everyone (I mean in my own family this is interpreted in so many ways)

I just tried megamare and I have oud mineral, and yes they go to a very similar direction. Oud Minerale is more on the seaweed side and megamare even more oceanic if this makes sense. But if you like one I think you will also like the other!
A difficult fragrance to approach, but is stunning!
Yep, this one is challenging, but so rewarding. For anyone new to 'niche', do not start here. This is too much and especially if you've been on a 'diet' fresh/aromatic style of perfumes, this one has too much funk in the drydown that will blow your brain....which is what happened to me.
But once you give it a chance and understand the complexity of the fragrance and how it fills a room and really projects; it's so amazingly awesome🤩 Just can't get enough of this fragrance.

Three sprays is already too much. I put three sprays the first time I wore this one (to highschool lol), and people could smell me before even seeing me. I even gave one of my friends an allergic reaction. So yeah be careful guys

Aquamans signature sent...or Neptune whoever is more powerful under the surface. One of a kind fragrance with nuclear longevity and sillage, compliment generator.
It took me some time to get my hands on a full bottle of this magical juice because it was sold out everywhere, but once I got it - my signature fragrance now! Should get a second one soon just in case it goes sold out again.
Be advised 1 or 2 sprays are enough for 24+h.

Smells like you walk in shipyard in Croatia. On one side you smell sea and salt and than on the other side you smell fish and corosive ships. Glorious fragrance, i go 4 sprays usually, since i do not go any fragrance less than 4 sprays. One of the strongest fragrances in my collection( in the same power of red tobacco, erba pura, oud satin mood, arabians tonka, ambra aurea…)

Second time watching this review. Alessandro is a genius either in marketing or perfumery, or both. I will acquire a bottle and return tot his thread.
I totally agree with you Joey. Not sure if you watched the Seminalis episode? I mentioned that Alessandro (in my mind) is the following and in this order:
1. A Business Man
2. Artist
3. Perfumer
4. A Business Man
The guy is clever at marketing and knows how to push the right buttons, but is then able to back it up with his creative flair and exceptional perfumes; so all kudos to him
This is one that I strongly recommend that you test first. It's pretty punchy and it needs to be experienced to see if it works for you....but, yes strongly recommend⚡️

This fragrance reminds me of Harrods in London
The moment you enter Harrods you smell this scent and the people who wear this kind of scents a lot are Arabs. Whenever i pass by an Arab I smell this kind of scent, very luxury and musky. This is something else

We get a lot of knowledge about nice perfumery. Thanks. I have a question. I want to find a fragrance that should smell like the ambience scent of Amalfi coast Saint air Inc, I smelled in hotel lobby. The notes are as follows
Top notes. Lime zest, bergamot, sage
Middle. Watery greens. Lavender. Eucalyptus
Base. Amber, sandalwood, musk, patchouli

I would recommend to you Renaissance by Xerjoff. It doesn't carry all the notes that you listed but I believe the 'vibe' that you're seeking and this perfume is exceptional in that domain.

This fragrance was my first from Orto Parisi and my second niche fragrance. Fell in love with Orto Parisi. People asked me what I was wearing😂 they seemed confused but two girls weren’t confused and they liked it in a mermaid hunting way if you get my vibe ha.

I'm never sure about the conversations on weakened batches; because it doesn't make sense to me that a company will mess around with their core product...? But I don't know, so I'm only speculating.
I know that there's been talk that Black Afghano has been reformulated etc, but this is another one that smells like it's meant too for me. I bought mine in 2018 and a friend recently bought his and when we tested they smelt the same🤷🏽♂️

Is it good to wear in the summer?
Great to hear from you! This has a heavy musk/algae dry down...there's no sunny bright side (only on the opening)
For me, I don't like wearing this in summer. I prefer it as my cooler weather/winter/evening fragrance...this is where the fragrance really comes alive.
However I do know a number of people that love this as their summer fragrance. My recommendation is to test for your self on skin and see how this 'sea monster' performs for you 🌊👹...good luck!
I was a bit perplexed by you saying your wife enjoys the sillage yet not when you're too close when wearing the fragrance. Intriguing!!
When she’s up close the base notes pop more (musky tones) and it’s too much.
I also find that if breath in the fragrance on where I’ve sprayed it’s quite intense.
Yet if I allow the fragrance just to project from me, I’m getting the entire Fragrance rather than just the base notes.
I find the same response from other members of my family. from a distance the fragrance is alluring but up close it’s way too intense
@The Niche Fragrance Collector I feel the exact same way about my YSL Kouros. The exact same way. There's no comparison, obviously, to Orto Parisi but that's what came to mind.

I also think this is similar to Oud Mineralé... The Bvlgari Aqva series is also what comes to mind.
I’m yet to try the Bvlgari aqua series, have heard that these are pretty spectacular.

Does it suit the summer weather?
This is pretty potent. The musk/animalic is very powerful and might get a bit much along with a summer heat. In Melbourne it gets really hot over summer...a lot of sweating, so I would never wear it.
Spring day yes, winter 100% yes, Autumn/Fall 110% yes....summer not so much🫤

The biggest beast of all time this is, the most potent fragrance ever, great for the summer, its my least favourite parisi but its still a wonderful fragrance, love your review, great description

I love Megamare it's sexy as hell. I have had many compliments. At first sray I thought what the hell is this? but now I love it, I strut when i wear it. Very sexy on a man too. I sprayed some on my male friend before he went to work in a resturant and the women were all over him.
I'm yet to test Secretions....not sure I'm brave enough, from all the things that I've read😕
But yes, Megamare is as you've described it "sexy as hell" and you definitely get noticed (in a good way) when wearing this fragrance (projects beautifully).

Too me this fragrance smells like Paco Rabane Invictus niche version. Their is a lot of molecules like Baccarat rouge inside this fragrance.

Personally, I feel that yes, a woman could easily wear Megamare. It does have some nice florals in the background but know that it’s a powerful aquatic musty fragrance… As long as you’re comfortable with this then it shouldn’t be a problem.
My recommendation is always to test first, and see how it plays on your skin

There is no Ocean or salty sea ,acquatic and or the things people mention.
This is plain OUD and disaster of an OUD. Smells cheap like Dubai market place and almost everyone soaking in this stinky bomb.
every 2nd person smells like this in Dubai , a very common scent and , found easily in perfume markets going by name simple Oud and even noticed small grocery shops now sell them too in UAE !!!

Yep, I hear you. I do think that part of the DNA of this fragrance is to create a polarising effect....some people totally LOVE this and others are repulsed....there is no middle ground.
I did feel like you at the start, but I've switched teams😬 This is really amazing and yes, it can fill a department store, hence why I always spray sparingly.
