Thanks, Scott. Certainly enjoying and learning from these masking tutorials. Time well spent, as they say.

great tool - great expaination - great tips and setting samples. I noticed this in ON1; I've been using it more since I started your video series.) - and was hoping you'd go into detail on it. Very helpful - TY

Great video very informative. I am glad you are doing a deep dive into various aspects of On one Raw.

Thank you for all your clear and detailed videos for ON1. I am buying the software, after a trial period, and will certainly use your code, to give you some real acknowledgement for the work you do. I am transferring from Luminar Neo, one of the most poorly executed software releases in history. Thanks a lot.

very usful video as I did not know the edges were determined by colour. Can you make the selection transparent so you can replace the masked area with a different image?

Hi Chris ... yes, when you're creating a Layer mask. I've been showing the masking tools with filters and adjustments. The same tools apply when you're working with a multi-layer photo document.

    Nicely done Scott.
I hope that by closely following your advice, my use of the Perfect brush will produce cleaner masks than I have generally managed to achieve when invoking it.
As an ON1 Photo RAW user for the past 4+ years, I usually found the use of the Perfect brush to be a rather frustrating exercise, primarily due to the amount of fiddling around with the Color threshold and Color transition settings needed to achieve a clean mask.
Please ON1, improve the ease of use and performance of your mask edge detection feature, to the point where 0 fiddling around is needed to achieve a clean mask with perfectly identified edges.

The advanced controls are a blessing and a curse. You can coax just about any color matching you want ... but you have to fiddle. Maybe a middle-ground, like a "sensitivity" control more directly accessed in the toolbar.

Scott, really enjoying this series of tutorials. Learning about the additional controls is particularly useful. On a non-related topic, have you spotted this in your neck of the woods? th-cam.com/video/mpiH-Y-HOvE/w-d-xo.html

Thanks Scott especially for the trick of locking the color sample with the Cmd/Ctrl key.
