Don't understand why Enescu is not played anymore than he is. This is a wonderful piece of music and so soothing. I don't think Enescu has been given enough credit through the years. Thanks for sharing.
+SigP229R Is hard for human beings, especially for germans and anglo-saxon to indulge Enescu because he is not easy to indulge, you need to have the same patient of life and time as a buddhist monk in order to grasp every notion of musical components made by Enescu, and the same idea applies to Celidilache aswell. Who was notoriously known to slow down all musical sheets made by genius composers through the years.
BRILLIANT!!!! Do you know who conducted this? Was it Celibidache??? And do you know what year Enescu composed this. Did he conduct it himself? where? sorry for all the questions.
"[...] the composer was preparing his experience for the creation of the significative Opus 1, Romanian Poem, symphonic suite for orchestra, dated Paris 1897." (Dr. Vasile Tomescu) The first audition took place in Paris on February 6, 1898 (orchestra "Colonne" directed by Edouard Colonne). _Do you know who conducted this? Was it Celibidache???_ I think it is the Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra directed by Iosif Conta.

Perfect!!! Michael Cretu (ENIGMA's Soul )was inspired from this "Heaven " strings. I suggest to listen George Enescu - Romanian Rapsody 1 and 2 too. Or some works of Celibidache version MOZART Requiem or Ravel -Bolero . Romanian's have a natural slowest tempo in classic music thx for uploading

Iosif Ivanovici, Porumbescu, Eugen Doga, Vladmir Cosma, Gheorghe Zamfir, Mihail Jora, Nicolae Kertulescu Dinu Lipatti, Clara Haskil under the conductor of the great Celibildache. Romanians have produced some of world best and most beautiful music to the ear. And we and our culture is unkown to the rest of the world. I can´t not blame Europe for their ignorance.

Fantastic music, I was introduced to it on the occasion of my first and only trip to Romania, back in 1991, and I still love to hear it from time to time.
Does anyone have any idea of where I can find a live recording of this piece? I feel like I've checked everywhere, and I've never found anything. I just really want to see a live orchestra/men's choir perform this! PLEASE AND THANK YOU :)
It may be hard to find depending on your location, like in the usa for example a lot of stuff gets censored or removed. You can just use a VPN to connect to a different country, then try searching for it again
Enescu himself was bothered that his fame was based almost exclusively on his two Rhapsodies. It would be right fine for the wide public to know GE pieces as brilliant as this one.
This is the censored version because the final contained (and contain) the ancient royal anthem "Traiasca regele". So the communist regime decided to eliminate that part from the work.

Amazed at the great number of compositions of this composer. And cheers to TH-cam for letting us hear these.
George Enescu is a composer from excelence. He regret can't compose much more, as he confessed("Le souvenirs de Georges Enesco"-Bernard Gavoty)!

Hi can someone tell me the proper name of this composition? I want to get it on my streaming app it's so beautiful but can't find the exact name! Thanks!
George Enescu - Poema română
The proper name is "Poema Romana"
George Enescu is his name.
The national anthem part(near the ending) is omitted in this performance. Is there anyone who knows why it is so?
Because Communists hated everything that was related to our royalty. The national anthem back then was the royal anthem and the lyrics said : "Long live the King"...
