I would like to try it once. For now I bought some seedlings and deflasked them,. In each flask were 4 to 5 babies. and not all of them survived but one or two of each kind. Congrats for your success.
Oh wow! After watching all 4 "episodes" of this amazing orchids opera, I realized why orchid plants are a bit pricy. Take off my hat to your dedication and patience. Nature is definitely teaches us enjoying the process and not just checking if there is any result when it's waaaay to early for one. Way to go! I wish I watched it earlier before I ordered my seeds on wish. Now I think I probably shouldn't heh I'm still waiting for them to arrive (also a thing with wish based on other people's experience but I'm optimistic). Will be there a chance for them to germinate at all? If there is even just a little teeny tiny chance, would you please help me with any suggestion hiw give any of those dozens of seeds a new life? Thank you in advance ♡
Thank you for watching 😊 Unfortunately, the chances of germination are from slim to none since even if you manage to sterilize the media in the kitchen and even if you manage to add the seeds to the containers in a sterile way (highly unlikely), the seeds themselves are not sterile. I guess the one chance might be to spread them around in a tropical jungle (I am assuming epiphitic orchids) and hope they land on a spot with the right fungus or send them to lab that actually does this for a living where they might be able to "wash" the seeds with some kind of mild disinfectant before they add them to sterile media under sterile conditions. Some people have also made 'glove boxes' at home with hepa filters (tend to be expensive) and rinsed the seeds with hydrogen peroxide or chlorine solutions to disinfect them but again more money invested for slim to none chances, because at the wrong concentrations you could kill the seeds before you add them to the media. Sorry for the news 😔 but that is the reality which indeed does show how fine the balance of nature actually is.
@@Orchidomania Appreciate the prompt and truthful reply ♡ Lesson learned :) You are totally right. With all the money I'll put into trying to sterilize, germinate and whatnot, it'll easier to buy an adult plant from someone who knows-how. I won't get to whatch'em growing which is a little bit unfortunate but there are so many species out there that do allow enjoying the full cycle process with affordable investments that I think I'll just move forward. Thank you for saving my time and faith ♡ All the best!
Hi MaryG ...nice to hear from you again 😊 The parents are normal hybrid orchids...one was white with pink lip and the other was pink with dark pink spots...you can see them in the first video where the seeds are placed on sterile media.
Has there been an update on this since this video?? I'm curious as to how the babies are getting on! There's one thing for sure... I will never take my orchids for granted again 🤣
Hi Hollie...This is the last update up to now. I managed to burn them ...almost all, because I left them in the rain and forgot to put them back when the sun came out. I wanted to pull my hair out ...I hope some make it still :(
@@Orchidomania ahh that's awful news!! I've recently done that with a couple of my other house plants! I think you have done amazing regardless, fingers crossed they pull through for you... You have the patience of a Saint! Xx
@@Orchidomania oh I made a typo I know that there are mini orchids that are pretty close to that small I meant to type phalenopsis between the words were and orchid
You can't really do it at home. If you live in a tropical area try scattering them in the jungle. There are some ways of building a glove box or something similar at home but it's a lot of time and money for something that has very high chances of failure unfortunately.
LOL...Yes patience is a must! Sometimes when I make these updates I also think this takes way too long 🤔 but yeah...these slow little green monsters need time.
Watched all updates. Nice to see those in good shape. Great content. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you like them! :)
Well done, they look so healthy. You deserve an A+ for patience!
Thank you :) It is a patience tester for sure 😄
Orchidomania 😇👏
@@annebroder9902 Thanks 😊
Fab video. Can't wait to see your next update.
Thank you 😊 Should be up this weekend 😉
Incredible long term project. Not sure if everyone has that kind of patience. Giovanni makes a perfect handsome assistant!!!
Oh....happy holidays 🎄🎅⛄
Thank you 😊 Yes it does take longer than I expected but there's nothing left to do but wait...Happy 🎄 to you as well! Gio sends hugs 🌼🐕
Amazing!!congrats on all the baby seedlings
Thank you 😊 I am glad I got them this far. Thanks for visiting again 🌺🌻🌼
Phew! So much work ...impressive!
Thanks :) Sometimes I wish I had a time machine just to speed up the process
You did good. I tried it once in the early 90’s and failed. Thinking about maybe trying again.
Thanks Tim 😊 You will need sterile conditions...you can see all the details in the playlist about "breeding orchids"

Thank you Lea 😊 If you want to try you need sterile conditions, without it's a waste of time and equipment unfortunately.
@@Orchidomania I gathered a lot of info about it, so that could be the future project..
Next update ready? Thanks for sharing!
I've been busy at work (uhhh day job) and yes I should...Thank for checking in 😊
Update please! I'm so interested in this!
Amazing videos 🌟 do you have update on the babies? 🥰
Thank you 😊 No this is the latest but I will make one soon 🌸🌼

Absolutely amazing well done 👍
Thank you Mick 😊 It's a very loooooong process...really teaches you about patience 😄
Thanks for sharing your video. It's so excellent. Do you add any fertilizer for baby orchid or only water to keep it moisture?
Thank you 😊 Yes a little fertilizer is good.

When you sterilized the flasks and medium in the microwave...was that a special microwave? I read you need to use a pressure cooker.
Not special in any way. Yes you can use a pressure cooker too
I want to see your miltonia , which u potted in lechuza pot, any update??
It did not survive...but I will try again because I think it didn't do well because of other reasons. Thanks for the video idea 😊
Amazing! It would be super cool if there were phalenopsis orchid species that stayed that small
There are ...lots of miniatures

If you don’t have laminar flow hood.. where do you suggest sowing the seeds?

How are these lil’ guys doing? Has there been an update since that I somehow missed?
I have 2 left...I haven't made a video since
Excelente!
Gracias 😊
omg cant wait untill they bloom even it will took years
Yeah...i feel the same way 🥰
Hi, how are these doing now? 2021.
Hi ...I have 2 left...I need to do an update but I keep having delays due to my day job 😆
Good job but you are de-flasking too soon. Let them get large as possible in flask as long as they don't start turning yellow or brown.
If you look at the previous videos, you will see that I had to due to mold growing in the "flasks"
I use TISSUE GARD , it works well to prevent mold.

Can I use cocopeat as media?
To keep the seedlings ...should be fine
Whens the next update
I caused a massive disaster...killed all of them except 4. I will make an update about them and the ghost orchid babies this month
Can we grow it in a natural way?
What is the "natural way"?
Omg my comment got there
Well you put it here 🤣
Wow they grow super slow, not suitable for impatient person like me I think.
