    Which Ducati would you choose - the SuperSport 950 S or the Monster?

    I think you really hit the nail on the head, however I bought the 2021 Supersport 950S about a year ago now, I ride it nearly every day to and from work and on joy rides. You said that it’s a sporty seating position you wouldn’t want to be in all day; that’s one of the reasons I bought it, is that it is NOT in a sporty position. It’s right in between the Panigale and the Monster position, a perfect in between. I sat on the V2 and the V4 and couldn’t see myself in that position all day. The Supersport seat is SUPER comfortable, i’ve ridden for hours on trips across state lines and my friends were hurting and i was ready for more. The down low torque, comfortable seat, and stunning looks made it the perfect bike for me. It all boils down to personal preference, but to me the Supersport looks stunning. Everywhere I go people stop and admire it and ask questions about it, it’s LITERALLY an everyday Panigale V2. Monsters are great, and a classic, but you have to really look at it to see that it’s even a Ducati (unless it’s red). The pearl white or red option for the Supersport (mine is in white) grab eyes and break necks everywhere. Hands down Supersport for me.

      I have own both (older version of Monster) and have a 2022 Ducati Supersport 950. The SS is by far the better choice. It looks great. No downside vs. the Monster.

    Brilliant review guys. I just sold off my Ninja 1000 ( 2019 make) as it was too heavy and cumbersome and given the super low ground clearance and the humongous Indian speed breakers . I was mulling over between the D Monster and the triumph Scramble due to the hight ground clearance. I had a Triumph street triple and same ground clearance problems .

    OBTW, where's the Ohlins suspension on the new Monster? That's where some of the extra price goes on the SuperSport.

    I own this red monster.
    Good
    Light powerful easy wheelie, 3 times a duke. Put a fly screen wind blast reduces significantly, good ground clearance.
    Bad
    Tank range, normal ride 250 km. Spirited 200 km range.
    Rear view mirrors, view obstructed with elbows, red raisers.
    Happy with it in traffic highway and slight off road bad roads also.

    brilliant discussion; just what i want to know! i really want a supersport s with the 155hp v2! also, since buying a triuph daytona 765 moto2, i have been spoiled by ohlins and want no less. so my quandry has been between the supersport s and monster sp which is 39 pounds less. I really like fairings, but if i have to setle with 1970's hp, the light it must be. glad you articulated how the beautiful but inferior frame feels! you helped me decide. and yes, the beauty contest is clear, too, lol

    I am lucky enough to own both. Problem solved :-) I am old so the proper sport touring style of riding appeals way more to me than the "human sail" riding position of ADV style bikes. Every man and their dog rides ADV style these days. I ride on the track a lot an prefer the connected feeling i get some track bikes on the track, and sport tourers (no clips or aggressive body position) on the street. My track bike is a Pani V2. It would be a torture rack on the streeet... In my book, this is how a motorcycle should feel. And that Teststretta engine is butter...

    Supersport is basically a sports tourer, don't compare it with panigale v2 (a track machine). V2 on indian road is not a good combination but supersport make so much sense.

    They are effectively the same bike. The Monster looks like poop and is a disappointment compared to the old Monsters. The 950S looks amazing and I have ridden it, for 110hp it is impressive. I own a Hyper 950SP, Desert X and a Pikes Peak but that 937 engine is really good in both the Monster and the SS. The SS provides better wind protection, looks better and is very comfortable.....Super Sport all day for me.

    The prices they mentioned are way off from reality, In Metro cities the Supersport basic is 17.4L and the S model is 19.9L (if its white is 20.1L) and the Monster starts from 14.5 and goes till 14.9. The price reduces by 70K to 90K if you buy these bikes from the cheapest registration places but who wants to roam in their own city with the number plate from a different state? Even considering this reduction they are a lot more than what they mentioned.

    • @rlsedition
      @rlsedition 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@STIjojoSTI My experience encompasses some 50 years of street riding and 3 years of WERA/AMA road racing. For racing maximum HP is important, but for the street its all about mid-range power. I could care less about "how fast" these bikes are, since you can't use max HP on the street. Plus, to me, the Japanese competitors look like crap aesthetically next to my Ducati.

      I agree. It looks like a Yamaha to me. I would go for the Supersport and get bar risers if necessary. Also, the Supersport has hard bags as an option. I'm not sure whether they are available on the Monster.

    • @jojosthlm
      @jojosthlm 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@supecoop Agree, I will go for the Supersport this spring. Seems like the best option for an old ex racer as myself looking for a mix of relaxed and inspired fun riding. The only obstacle is that financial issue,😁. Taxed into the bare bones where I live.
