My Dad used to take me out late afternoon early evening when I was four years old and he'd say "if you can read this sign I'll give you two shillings". I knew I could usually wrangle it up to a half crown, the price of the best comic ever, TV21. I learned to read well aged four because I had the best incentive any kid could have anywhere, anytime, TV21 was the highlight of the week and the entire family used to read it.

I know the Mole is an iconic fan favourite, but for me the Firefly has always been my favourite pod vehicle. Yet I never knew about the rear water canon!

I just realised that it doesn't have independent drive for the tacks.
This is where one tack can move backwards while the the other moving forward making turning quicker
(This system was first designed for the famous Churchill series of tanks of ww2 and has been used by many tanks ever since).

@@harryjohnson9215 I think it does. Of the top my head I think it turns that way at the start of Terror In New York City. I'd need to rewatch the episode to be sure

Anyone else spot the transistor tester (fitted with a TV picture where the meter should have been), the audio (?) oscillator inside Firefly and the multimeter movement? Much of the fun of these series was working out what they had cannibalised to make the control panels. ☺

The Firefly is my personal favourite,
I have a dream of making one and taking it to display at comic cons...
When I'm not driving it around to get the shopping, because if you had The Firefly you would use it as often as you could,

I'm already thinking about how a Firefly-equivalent might've looked like as a "Pod" from the Thunderbirds Are Go! reboot. Hmm... Tracks on the bottom, dozer blade up front, twin water cannons on the sides, water tank in the back slot, sprayer up top?

Has anyone seen footage of the Hungarian fire-fighting tank known as The Big Wind ? Try watching it in action without hearing Barry Gray's music play in your head. If ever a piece of contemporary equipment belongs in the International Rescue stable, this is it.

@@GerryAndersonTV back when i was in my 20s I would spend 2 years on a scratchbuilt, totally uknown biplane of the 30s. And would take my dioramas out in the sun to take photos of them and fool my peers that the dioramas were life size. Now when i look back, I cringe at myself for the huge amounts of time invested at the expense of sports, partying etc. But the nostalgia in this channel is still way too hard to ignore
