Great video! Thanks for making it. I have been considering an L2502 and I am convinced that they are worth the extra upfront cost if you are looking for a tractor that you can own for 30 years.
Kubota is definitely known for having refined loader valves. As for the lift capacity, I agree with the salesman about the safety and stability of the machine with respect to capacity. Unballasted, machines this size are generally 2500-3000lb, and about 5ft wide at the rear tires. That’s a small platform for picking up something that weighs more than half of what the machine weighs. For reference, I have a machine this size with a full-height pivot pin lift capacity of about 800lb. With loaded rear tires and rear wheel weights, my loader can still get you in trouble quick without something on the 3 point if you aren’t careful. You may want to consider how high you want to lift the weight. Loaders are a lot more capable picking things up off the ground than going to full height, as you identify about the BX. With my loader I can lift two 16ft pine 8x8s with clamp on forks on the bucket, which shift the load out to a disadvantageous position compared to SSQA pallet forks. I’ve moved logs I didn’t think I should be able to lift that way too. If you want room to grow, a machine frame size up wouldn’t be a bad idea. More capacity with more stability.
Good video young man!! I'm not Knockin no one's Tractors kubota makes a great tractor no doubt if owed some of the older ones over the years. I've owed a couple of the other brands one said they would lift so much more 2200 to be exact but wouldn't do it in real world or my world the way i use a tractor. I just got a kioti 3520se shuttle shift and it does do the job. But the dealer makes whatever brand you get good or bad. Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy
Given the excellent dealer support you have received from Davis Equipment, quality, and resale value, I think you would make a wise choice in purchasing a Kubota L2502 and be very happy. I don’t think you will regret spending just a little bit more for the peace of mind purchasing through Davis Equipment. If you have to save up more funds for a few extra months, that’s ok too. 😉

Absolutely have Ed bring one out and have a couple logs ready and whatever else to test it. Or rent one for a day. Then you will know if it will do what you want for that extra $ investment. No hoping and finger crossing or oh sh*t moments! 😂
Brock found out the hard way without enough ballast the tym won't lift what it is rated for but I am sure you know that already you have to keep the tires on the ground

The L2502 will lift 1096 pounds to full height (at the pin). It will lift 1446 to 60” (at the pin). You will probably never have a need to lift a full length log to full loader height. 60” high will more than get a log on your mill. My question is how much log weight can the mill hold? Other than the giant sequoia logs you have at the bottom of the hill, how big/heavy of a log do you plan to mill? You do have a big decision to make. And you know the rule of thumb. Pick out exactly what you think you need, then buy the next size bigger! God bless!
I bought the newer floor mats for my l2501,the ones off the 2502 fit perfectly.The l2501 i owned for 8 years,did everything in the 60"class perfectly.Kubota is the master of hydraulic systems,smooth and multi-function.The only other brand I would consiider is,KIOTI.
Dealer service is the biggest asset after the sale. Its a good tractor for your needs / budget, the lift capacity is pump capacity and ....get him to let you try it on the logs you are working with.
I went with a B2601 and it is too small for me. Got a cabbed Kioti CK3510 (low hours, but abused) later. It is an order of magnitude more tractor. I would stick with whatever dealer in your local area treats you well. My 2 local Kubota dealers are dipsticks. I bought the Kioti from LSEtractor out of the Nashville TN area. They have been awesome. And I have Messicks online for the Kubota.
Me personally don't like the Kubota treadle pedal. I checked out several tractors and went with a Kioti NS4710HST. It's big, and it's a beast. If I were in the market for a 25-30 hp tractor i would definitely go with a Mahindra. I know several folks that own them and wow 👌 Great video, great series
Lucas, your videos got me thinking how much my tractor can lift. I have a TYM T254 (sub compact), and using a 3000lb crane scale, it maxed out at lift 2151lbs. Ill be testing with one of the IBC totes full of wood this weekend.
@@PeeksPeakHobbyHomestead just tested lifting the ibc tote filled to the top with stacked oak, it lifted it easily. In fact It was able to lift it high enough to stack one tote on top of another tote.
Dealer support is everything and will the manufacture support there product after the sale. Kobuta has the equipment, dealership has the relationship with the customer, that make perfect piece of equipment.
Definitely a tough decision. For what its worth, I love my L2502. Very seldom do I run into issues where I wish I had more power, although it does happen. Especially if you plan on lifting hardwood logs onto that mill. I would have to make some ramps and roll them on with straps. I've seen some videos where they load quite large logs with just a SXS and straps.
I really like the L but I agree with you the loader control placement is out dated, the lx has it in a better place, my brother owns one picks up logs with ease he has a 60 in everything attachments grapple and land-pride 3rd function on his, I have a b it will lift logs decently but struggles in how high I can lift them, if your mainly looking for lift capacity skid steer is the way to go
I was back and forth between the Kubota BX23S and the Kioti CS2520s. Both great machines. Ultimately, it came down to lift capacity and dealer support. Kioti won out on the lift capacity. The Kioti dealer also has given me great support to this point. Time will tell if i made the right decision.
Man you have a tough decision. Seriously I struggle with the same things when buying things. Do I go cheaper or go with a well known quality product and pay more obviously? Dealer service is very important. Good stuff Lucas. Keep um coming.
as a new BX23s owner i am very happy. a few things i see that are weak points are the grill guard and the hydro fan cover. kubota would be wise to look at what the aftermarket folks like bxpanded have come up with to fix this.
I’ve changed my fan twice and still don’t run a belly guard. I don’t want to fool with it every time I put my mower on and take it off. As far as the grill guard goes, I haven’t ever had issues there and I’m pretty rough with mine. Everybody has different needs I guess. 😊 Enjoy your machine! They are awesome!
Wheel spacers are the best money you can spend on your tractor. Bro-tec makes some real good ones. They’re not cheap but what’s your life worth. 2 inch on the back 1”1/2 on the front and if you’re running the 60 inch mowing deck you’ll have to reset your wheel stops, but it’s well worth the money. You will not believe the difference they make on Safty.
Was Kubota all my life. I just upgraded to a TYM T474. For many reasons..including $ , lift capacity..simplicity etc. I kind of chuckled at the reasoning behind why it's ok to have lower lift capacity on this Kubota. I get it..but come on lol !
Cut to the chase your goin bota lol, for me it was between kiote and Kubota then it came down to dealer service kiote is an hour and a half away kubota is 15 min then throw in the insurance policy.I waited along time on rear remotes they sent out a loner tractor plus gave me a third function on mine to offset the wait who does that these days.They got my loyalty for life after that plus the tractor is good quality it made my life alot easier.
You get what you pay for in this life Lucas . Kubota is the devil you know, quality, dealer & insurance support, parts and implements , plus you know they will be there 10 years from now unlike the others . Choose wisely!
The other brand tractors weigh more. TYM 3620 is a 4700 lb tractor so it is rated for 2700 fel. Kubota compact tractors are too light in the chassis. I have nothing against kubotas reliability but anything over 40 hp is completely unaffordable. He's staying with Kubota because his needs are small so its in that affordable area. I need a 45 hp tractor and kubota is way out of my price range and I do not need huge trade-in value because I'm sixty years old . I'll be keeping what I buy for life.
Kubota is a great machine, but their lift capacity is just disappointing. My CS2220 is rated at 1062lbs to full height at the pivot pins. I can't believe that a tractor as large as that one is basically the same.
Loader specs can be confusing. My LA844 loader on my Kubota MX4700, based on the loader number (844), can lift 1,852 pounds to full height, a bit over 9 feet. That's with the load 19 inches forward of the pin. At the pin that number increases to 2,443 lbs. Measured at only 5 feet of lift it can lift 3,060 pounds at the pin, or 2,478 pounds 19 inches forward of the pin. How other manufacturers define loader capability may differ. Good luck in your buying quest. I'd be easier if you didn't have so many good choices!
They're all good machines. You could just draw a name out of a hat and I believe you would be happy with it. Is there any Mahindra dealers around you? Ive read they're the biggest tractor brand worldwide
Skidsteeers and excavators Kubota hands down...Woodyard tractor KIOTI or a TYM. You can buy a cabbed version for the price of their open station, its a no brainer.
Those are awesome, but they are a $40k machine and I’m looking at $20k machines. I will say that I am also keeping an eye on marketplace at used full size Skid Steers…

kubojunk can say they are the second best seller but how many dealers and branches of dealers do they have here in north central wv parks has 4 locations and bought out competing kubojunk dealer when tym or ls get added to other brand dealers lots then kubojunk wont be number 2 anymore
still not impressed with kubojunk as i have friends that have the bx the L and the next series up and until you get to the m series they struggle lifting much over 1000 pounds

I have a Kubota 2380. Their k tack insurance that’s what sold me. You need it.

Some of these loader capacities listed on these smaller tractors are beyond what I would want to even lift with my Kubota MX!

If you have a lot of hills, I recommend getting a higher horsepower tractor. Steep hills sap power on these little hyrdro machines.
One of the best things is 3 range trans.also loader frame is wider than 2501.

Bought a L3602 last year and love everything about it.
Didn't know that they make a 3602. 3302 and 3902 ,not sure there's one inbween.

I love my L2502 HST. In my area, the dealer I chose was the most established. That was a big part of my decision.

i have 2 mahindras with over 1700 hrs on them very well built tractors with only minor issues.

Having 3 Kobotas and great support. replacement parts and maintenance items are high. Not sure how that compares between the two
