Nearly 55 years ago when I told my parents I was leaving engineering to become a Minister of Word and Sacrament, I will never forget my Dad's wised words: "You can be a servant of God no matter what your occupation." Brother Lawrence in his essay series declares his servanthood as a pot washer in his monastary. That my work matters to God is important to me when my work has trouble mattering to me. That God matters to my work keeps my work mattering to me. For "The chief end of man is to glorify God AND to enjoy Him forever."
