- Revoici en trio, formule qu'il affectionne, le pianiste qui a plusieurs fois mis le feu au chapiteau de Marciac. Il est à la tête d'une discographie abondante, en leader ou comme partenaire de Milt Jackson, Ernest Ranglin, Ed Thigpen, entre autres, et tourne fréquemment en Europe,
sa musique, axée sur le swing, servie par un jeu robuste et plein de flamme, s'inscrit dans la tradition du jazz (on l'a parfois comparé à Oscar Peterson), avec des incursions vers le reggae et les musiques caribéennes. Dans ses trios successifs, se sont succédé le guitariste Herb Ellis, les bassistes Ray son trio actuel, deux partenaires de classe, John Clayton et Jeff Hamilton.

Jeff Hamilton, what a fantastic right handed jazz drummer and still with such brilliant control of speed and perfect timing with his left hand.

I hope he gets to read this comment, the last time I saw you I was with my musical father, "Walter Bishop Jr" at the Blue Note, New York, you came in and did a solo gig right after Bish did his solo set. You are one of the few of a dying breed of old school cats that played with fire and brimstone, Brothers like you, Gene Harris Horace Silver, Oscar Peterson,Walter Bishop and the list goes on. I'm sure you don't remember that day but I just thought I'd tell you about it. You have always been a great inspirational old school player that plays straight from the heart, with fire in brimstone's. Anyway I hope that you are doing well these days during this epidemic, may God bless you, live long and continue to prosper.

Concert génial! dommage que les conditions d'écoutes et visuels ne sont pas au même niveau qu'à Vienne! Les organisateurs devraient s’inspirer de l’héritage des romains ....
jazzXpress trio, Monty has a unique style, all his own with an endless flow of ideas. Composes some great melodies also. Love his music.
