I actually clicked on this one for the shorter runtime compared to the Synodic Scribe one! I'll probably watch both if this helps me understand the ARR MSQ.
It's always fascinating to see things recontextualized meaningfully in the FFXIV universe. We debated adding more about the 5.4 information but we felt since this was a primer wed rather give people a foundation and let them discover it naturally so we cut those sections. Who knows what other secrets lay right in front of our noses.

I have theory that after the unsundered of the source the ascian may have create some if not most primals & gave them the ability to temper victims because through out history the Ascians always manipulate people into summoning or even create new primals like Bahamut or Good king moggle for example to make causing calamitys. Spoiler 👇 While Zodiark & Hydaelyn kinda don't have the ability to temper people because they were create before the concept of tempering become a thing.
I don’t know how far you are in the story but this is addressed. Without going too much into other aspects to avoid spoilers I will say at the very least Zodiark very much is able to and did temper. There are reasons why primals summoned post sundering temper while creatures of creation magics didn’t pre sundering and this is explicit in both END and parts of SHB. -Elioaux

The events of 5.4 were such a massive upset in how we view primal sand tempering I can’t believe we went years under the same notion
