As a Red Wings fan I loved this. Chelios was one of my favorite Red Wings. In his 10, 11yrs in Detroit he helped us win 2 Cups, he went to 3 Cup finals in Detroit. He won the Silver medal in the Olympics for team USA in 01-02, which he was captain. He was nominated for a Norris Trophy in 02. He lost to his teammate Nick Lidstrom. When he was traded to Detroit in 1999, I bought his jersey a couple days later and still wear it. I just bought Kane’s Detroit jersey. I hope we extend his contract. Also, Chelly had a no trade clause. He had to waive it to come to Detroit.
Chelios didn't mention that he started as a forward and it was Bob Parker who taught him how to play defence. I asked Bob,"what made Chelios so good?" Bob said,"he was the quickest learner I've ever seen. I only had to show him something once and he got it."
Cheli thank you for everything you did in Detroit and for the NHL. I’ll never forget meeting you at the Joe Louis Arena, buying your book and you signing it. Congratulations on an extremely well deserved accomplishment. One of the best to ever lace em up.
They showed him in a suite wearing a #7 Chelios sweater. I think he’s cool with it. He’ll get his banner raised in a few years along with his longtime D partner, Duncan Keith.
Pilote and Magnuson both have their number 3 retired, they'll probably do the same for Seabrook. I would imagine the core 4 of that run will all have their numbers retired
Lifetime Flyers fan....mad respect for Chelly!!! The only thing I've got against him is...he didn't play for my Flyers....lol. Just an all time legend of the game! Never took a shift off! Congrats to a man deserving of all the praise he gets! Cheers!
The Great One, Eddie Vedder, Kid Rock, Dennis Rodman, JR, Amonte, Eddie the Eagle, Cindy Crawford, Theo Epstein, Hossa, Sharpie, Seabs, Keith, Kaner I mean my goodness! I’m not sure any other NHL player past or present gets a turn out like that, and I’m sure I missed some people along the way. That… is RESPECT, and shows just how loyal a person Cheli is. Those people aren’t at the UC if they don’t absolutely adore the man. What a career. The life though… I can’t even imagine. What. A. Life. this man has lived. Well done and well deserved! #7 forever a Blackhawk!
23:55 As the son of 2 retired Chicago Police officers, this meant a lot to me; especially now when being a police officer isn’t exactly a job that everyone in the world admires (including the god damn mayor of Chicago). Thank you, Cheli.
Well deserve!!! It's about dam time. Hometown Hero!!!! Great Job Chris Chelios!!! Congrats on getting ur Jersey #7 put up in the Rafters in the United Center. God Bless Brotha!!!
I’ve been a CHICAGO BLACK HAWK fan since before I was 7. Congratulations CHRIS. You are one of my many favourites on the CHICAGO BLACK HAWKS. GO HAWKS GO.
Cheli is better than that garbage video tribute. Who gives an F about Vanilla Ice and Will Smith? Total Fail. This guy is an ice hockey Hall of Famour'r. Played his ass off for the game. Congrats!!!
Living legend who made a great impact on 3 original six teams spanning 3 decades.
And Atlanta
@@QuantemTekGamingtvBut that was not a great impact.
'Don't steal my thunder, Kaner' , well that aged well instantly! :D
Chris Chelios tribute video is amazing I love it
Thank You Chris For All The Thrills,Hits,Goals You Gave This Hawks Fan Now Living In Tennessee
Only because he played for such a damn long time did it take this long for the Blackhawks to retire the number 7. What a player.
Played so long that a completely different Blackhawks defenseman wore #7 and also had a legendary career here while Chelios was also still playing.
@@PrazMaster I completely forgot Seabrook wore 7 🤣
whoever did the music needs a raise
Exactly

Last week Jagr now Chelios. Legends of hockey. I was lucky enough to see them play their entire career.
Respect from an Habs and Canucks fan
It was classy of him to mention Bob Probert. RIP Bob.

I was a Defenseman, Cheli was the best! He was my favorite ever since his Badger days!
As a Chicagoan now living in the Carolinas that made me home sick. That era of Blackhawks and Bulls teams were special.
As a red wings fan, can’t blame Chris for going back to Chicago. He was the second best defenseman in Detroit at the time, no shame in that.

I loved that 90's video. Awesome stuff.
I wonder how Brent Seabrook feels about this? Chelios is the "OG" #7, but Brent helped contribute to 3 Stanley Cup championships for the organization.
They'll eventually retire his number.

Glad Chelios recognized Kane in a Detroit uniform being goofy
Ahh the good old 90's congrats chelios from oilers fan

LEGEND ABSOLUTLY A LEGEND
Chris Chelios cest mon hero
Number seven was a fierce competitor.
8:00 Ik one of those guys is Brett hull is the other kid rock.
Legend
thats a pretty dope ass videos. the best at a retirement ceremony i've ever seen
So glad they showed this on regular tv...
Chelios is the reason I became a Blackhawks. A loved Seabrook when he played too and I feel his name should be on the banner next to Chelios´.
Chelios Rocks-GREAT & INSPERATIONAL MAN
Hated him wearing #7 in Chicago. Loved him in #24 for Detroit. He truly deserved this honor.
Well deserve!!! It's about dam time. Hometown Hero!!!! Great Job Chris Chelios!!! Congrats on getting ur Jersey #7 put up in the Rafters in the United Center. God Bless Brotha!!!
I got chills when 99 stood up to honor kaner.
I've met him a couple of times at a gas station in Hoffman Estates. He was super cool.
He really did not say “ wakey wakey Backes”
Damn that guy is cool and savage for that 😊😅😅😢😂
ALEXANDER THE GREAT...THANK YOY CHRIS...GETTINGS FROM GREECE..
In the montage they show NHL 94 and it's of Yzerman scoring on Belfour. That doesn't seem right
Habs 86 ring. Happy hawks retired his jersey. He deserve it. Gave his heart n soul for that team
what an incredible ceremony
NHL needs more of this, not to this extent because chel was special.
why did the start with the dolby surround sound effect
Starts at 3:00 if you want to skip to the point
Only question I have is how did Hossa get his number retired before Chris????
Million dollar question.
Because Brent Seabrook also wore number 7.
unreal video intro
Did the Hotel Room in Japan show up that he trashed after they lost in Nagano?
That was a huge exaggeration. In Japan throwing a wrapper on the floor warrants a police investigation. In was minor stuff made into a big deal.
No offence but why so long?
It’s worth the long video my opinion
What happened to his kid Dean? Thought he played hockey at MSU a few years ago, looks like now he can barely walk.
He wasn’t afraid of much
Greatest American born player still active is #34.
CONGRATS!!!! But uh team your facing the wrong way to watch it raise?!
I’ve been a CHICAGO BLACK HAWK fan since before I was 7. Congratulations CHRIS. You are one of my many favourites on the CHICAGO BLACK HAWKS.
GO HAWKS GO.
Habs legend
Nice
Seabrook tried his best.
lmao his son changed his named to a chinese name to play for china in the olympics XD WHAT A PROUD AMERICAN!

Pearl Jam tribute was awesome. Rest of the video tribute was meh.
Cheli is better than that garbage video tribute. Who gives an F about Vanilla Ice and Will Smith? Total Fail. This guy is an ice hockey Hall of Famour'r. Played his ass off for the game. Congrats!!!
Because its highlighting other things that happened in the 90s.
35:49 that’s not Auston Matthews cheli
Damn right its not
Zero Stanley Cups
Auston Matthews should have played for the Buffalo Bills
Seabrook’s 7 should have gone up first
The box that the banner came out of was made by my daughter!!!🫶👍🎉
So this is the guy they said was washed up after 10 yrs… played another 10… HOF career and now they want to claim him as there own…. Ok
