You may know that beside the ancient (1000s of years) sound of the launeddas and the Cantos a Tenore.... another type of music in Sardinia is the Cantu a Chiterra original from the Noorth. Inside the cantu a Chiterra the Cantu in Re is the most ancient (hundreds of years). Beside the Cantu in Re (that is presented as a competion between singers) there are perhaps 10 more type of songs. Muttos de Amore is one of these. Originarely were used by man in love to make a serenate. So it talks about expressing love to a loved one. Unfortunately, I am not the rigth person to translate... I give it a shot anyway but be aware that it does contains imprecisions. " The queen of Hungary, came down to be big church to confess. I come to serenate you at your door my dear dove (my dear love)." I have no idea to what it is referring to. It sounds to me as a recall of some hystorical event to make "bigger" his love declaration. Would be really nice digging more to find it out why the queen was mentioned. I am relatively new following the cantu a chiterra.
In this kind of stanza, or verse (su muttu), the first side only has the function to make the rhyme with the second side. The second has the true concept, the love song I mean. Jo estet kivanok Sardiniaból!
