I always try to spot the different fields you work. It takes me back to Mattoon more than once a year! I remember as a kid around Stew/Stras it was 100 bushel/acre. It's amazing what genetics and fertilizer applications do!
When I worked for Pioneer…I was in the R&D, worked with the Breeders…we would run tests with huge fans that hooked up to a small tractor and would blow…giving the impression of “heavy winds” I’d be VERY surprised if Pioneers corn close to full wind power…
Andy, have you ever tried a bulldozer with a long single shank to rip a pass next to tree lines to reduce tree root competition? I have know idea on costs, just spit balling.
Hey Andy, glad to see your good corn yields! Just down your way to watch the Illini stink it up against Purdue! Cold day to watch them lose. Have a good one!

Can you please show the ears of each variety please? Just to get a clue how it looks like with these yields. Here in Germany we just have 170 bushels😵💫
Trippy, buy yourself a new pair of boots and send the bill to Marty. I'm sure the farm account can cover it. Wasn't one of the fields in the vid today taken over by you and your sister, I remember from last year seeing that in a vid? Good vid, keep it between the rows 🚜🌽🌽
We plant all Pioneer corn but we planted 6 bags of Becks 6374 and it was great! Is 6374 Becks proprietary genetics if it is I didn’t think they had any or did they just get lucky and hit it out of the park with that hybrid? Lol
I don’t know if Beck’s has “proprietary” genetics if you really dig down deep enough. I believe they outsource all of their genetics, much like the other independent companies and even some of the larger named brands. That doesn’t mean that you can’t have great hybrids just because you don’t own the germ plasm, if anything the owners of the germ plasm make EASY money by selling through an independent company. They just give them a product, charge them a pretty healthy fee, and count their money at the end of the season. That being said, I believe that 6374 is a bayer-based product. I’m not privy to the true genetic makeup of any hybrid or variety, and I often wonder if many of them across competitive brands aren’t the same. Pioneer has always been good to us, but I’ve never noticed anything truly exceptional!
In beans, we can get 200 without much trouble. In corn, we are usually lucky to get 130-140 depending on the fields. I don’t think we are very efficient in corn.
My uncle that drives it doesn’t have a CDL and we used to run all 10 wheelers. We still have one for him to drive. There will come a day where it will be a semis.
AHA!!! The reason we got snow Saturday!!!! I saw the tree in the correction video. Just so you know I had to drive a relay semi to MO that morning in the snow.

Now about the farm, i'm new to the channel and didn't watch all the previous vids yet, i will get to it eventually. Just be curious howmany fields do your farm acctually have??? You grow only Corn and soyabeans??? i'm a factory worker from Belgium and i always have been facinated by farming. I like to grow things myselve like patatoes, pepers, letuce, onions and tomatoes (very small amount tough) haven't that mutch space. Mutch off you technical and mathematics you talking about is Chinese for me hehe. but i like the way you try to explane and make it clear enough for us to understand. Please keep those video's comming and keep up the good work. Also if i would like to buy merch from you do you ship worldwide???
Andy been watching for past couple of months. Great videos and explanations. Left the people's republic of Illinois 40 years ago (west central IL), farming has changed drastically in that time. Used to 'walk' bean fields with long handled hoes! Your film editing is A+. Does your wife do the daily edit!ing while you farm and film or do you run 20+ yours a day farming, filming, and editing as well as family duties? Good job all around 👍
Appreciate the kind words! When I first started the channel, I would edit everything myself. I wasn't nearly as efficient in both the filming or the editing, so I would come home edit until 2-3AM. Once I started having some success, Ali started helping with the editing during the day. She cuts out all of the wasted space and misspeaking, and I come back at the end of the day and do the final edit. It still takes me 2-3 hours depending on if I have drone footage because I do all of that work. I hope this helps explain things a little better!
My 14 year old daughter had a better stash than that when she was a newborn. It was hilarious, even had pork chop side burns. They went away on their own and she ended up as beautiful as her mama. Not cool, as a dad you kind of hope for a daughter who is 1/3 homely. Not painfully so, just enough. I digress. I had breakfast with a group of guys who had all the solutions for every problem in the world of ag. We decided it’s dry. When asked how much rain I’ve gotten at my places, I gave my usual answer, “Every f ing drop.” I don’t lose any or pipe it away, it stays on my farms. One very cool thing is one guy is putting out many tons of compost, and another a bunch of chicken litter pellets. Everyone else is going liquid and precision, we all enjoyed a good laugh at the guys who put down anhydrous before we had 4-5 days of 65 degree soil temps. We’ve decided that drought is coming, it’s just a matter of time, it’s working it’s way east. We’re all really grateful for the year we had.
I agree about the anhydrous, though we are not innocent of that sin. I would like to move all of our nitrogen to spring, especially post-planting. It is just a matter of time before we are legally forced to do that anyways. We need quite a bit of rain this off-season or we are looking at another 2012 scenario!
