Mine has a slot for a 3/4 ratchet head so you can move your tensioner. When we put our belts on we put it on every pulley except one on the outer deck then you can pull the belt hard enough the tensioner with expand and you can run it around the pulley and your done. Takes maybe a minute for us to replace.

Great feedback, Yard King. Thanks. Your method is how I install belts on the John Deere. I’ll look to think of your comment next belt change on the eXmark. My grip and elbow strength isn’t the same after injury and surgery on dominant elbow a few years ago. I’m weaker there. Thanks again for comment. Don’t forget to ambit like button and subs. I’m trying to grow the channel. 👍

First off you have spend way more time than you needed. If you start from the rear pulley and work from the discharge side to the left side of deck get a half inch drive racket and put into spri g tension idler helps to have a long 1/2 drive ratchet pull on the idler tensioner and the belt slips right over left pulley remove ratchet
Been doing this for thirty years commercial mowing hope this helps my belts never break in the shop they always break out on the job

Ingenuity Rob! I know why that was easy for you to figure out! All those Apache helicopter door cables we replaced as crew chiefs.

Yes. Building and maintaining Apache helicopters certainly helped me to hone my mechanic skills. I still LOVE turning wrenches! I like having the correct tool for the job. Makes things easier. But sometimes improvisation is necessary and expected of a good tradesman. I still say, “The helicopter never wins!” But I’ve added, “…because if it does, people may die.” That belt I changed out was replaced at THE critical moment before failure. It would have partially disintegrated on next run up. I would hate to be in this business with the equipment I’ve got and not know how to solve maintenance issues and troubleshoot potential faults. My 2408-13-1 is overall a / now. 😁💪.

Glad it was helpful! If I planned my videos better, I'd have the angles set up perfectly and there would be less motion and better lighting. I generally just try to get the point across but am working on making them more interesting with better editing and B-roll footage.

so i stumbled across this video in search of an answer to a major issue with these new lazer Z's . Look at that brand new oem belt you just put on , that means its as tight as it will ever be . Now look at how the belt rubs that metal side wall by the far right spindle . the paint is completely worn off on my mower on that spot . I dont think it rubs horribly when the belt is new but the second that belt loses any tension its for sure rubbing that spot . And whats a oem belt cost these day 130.00 ?

It’s a shame you can’t see a damn thing much less the ratchet strap. Maybe if it had been orange or yellow!!!
