This is a cover of "Little Black Baby," a song recorded by the People's Temple Choir. On the album "But, What Ends When the Symbols Shatter?" Death In June covered three other songs by the People's Temple Choir ("He's Able," "Something Got Hold of Me," and "Because of Him"), each of them with slight but key lyrical changes that make the songs much darker.

@Apossession The name Death In June is a mondegreen, Douglas P once misheard Patrick Leagas in the studio and heard whatever he said as "Death in June", and settled on that as the name for the band.
I think is a reference of Operation Overlord and the fall of the western front, also to Operation Bargration. So, june basically marked the end of the trind reich.

I looked up the tabs and everyone has it as Em, G, Em, Bm, Em, A11, Em. But watching this video it doesn't look like He's playing a B minor because it's not barred. Granted I am just learning so I'm probably missing something (which should be damn obvious since I can't even play this song yet) I can play something that sounds close but I'm not sure what the chord is, not only that but if I substitute a D chord for Bm it sounds pretty close and is much easier to play. Any tips appreciated.
Does anyone know what that chord is he's playing in the chorus? From what I've seen in other live versions, its Em, G, Em, ???, Em, repeat... All the tabs i've found online definitely aren't right.

Anyway, it's all speculation.
@kemicon I figzed it out. He just doesn't bar the chord. Pretty easy song but the strumming makes it a bit difficult to sing at the same time, but that's probably because I'm not a very good guitarist. Baby steps.
I don't want to put words in his mouth, so I can only speculate as to the meaning. "Lamenting the fall of Eurocentrism" I can certainly see as a possibility, but I don't really know about the second part. Or perhaps there is little meaning, just an odd, creepy rendition of an odd, creepy song. After all, "Leper Lord" has an origin that's not all that deep.

Simple but strong line!
Douglas himself said that this song is about an adopted African boy living in a 19th century English village. He ended up killing his foster parents.
I thought it was about the death of innocence

When I saw him live in Chicago. He performed magick.

some of the best songs ever written are 1 2 or 3 chords. Plenty of ol folk tunes, beatles and 60s ballads, and punk!!!

Very nice. I've thought about this song many times. Who do you imagine the "little black angel" is?
Isnt that the one type of ''hats'' the german snipers used under the ww2? Anyways, love this song!
Daniel Eriksson its acually a machinegunners veil its used as camouflage and to keep the powder out their face
It's SS Gesichttarnmaske, or face veil. Useb by SS from 1938 or 1940 (not sure).
"Hat" jesus christ man... seriously?
