I just don’t understand how people *STILL* overlook this band and this album. They helped kick the door open for punk to begin in L.A., even if they weren’t a punk band. Steve Hufsteter went on to play in the Dickies (and co-wrote several of their classic songs) and Los Cruzados. Danny Benair went on to play in the Weirdos, Choir Invisible (formerly Flyboys), and The Three O’Clock. Danny Wilde struck paydirt in The Rembrandts (They of “I’ll Be There For You” fame - theme song for 90’s TV show ‘Friends’). They were just teenagers when they recorded this album. Some people accused them of ripping off Sparks, but to me this album has always sounded like it’s own thing, and very unique. Pretty talented for a bunch of high school dropouts from the San Fernando Valley.

Yeah, I knew there was a "Dickies connection" in there somewhere (after all, The Dickies did do a cover of "Pretty Please Me"). These guys really kicked ass when I was still racking-out my brains in college, so much cool shit happening back then... then Bonzo came along. ☮

The Quick's Mondo Deco album sounded more like a greatest hits rather than a debut album.

Steven Hufsteter (later with the Dickies) on the right.
