Great video, I didn't know evaporative cooling was a big reason for the use of clay jugs throughout history.

Great video! I had no idea this was a thing. I wonder, did the people who used these clay jugs knew that the porousness of the clay allowed for evaporation and cooling, or did they only know of the phenomenon of water becoming colder in clay jugs

I can guarantee their science wasn't good enough back then to understand why it's colder. They diddnt have glass jugs to test it against. They used clay for pots and jugs because dirt was all they had to make it with

It's how our body sweats and make us feel cool or I should say sweating cools our body temperature.

How do you clean the inside? The water from my clay jug is containing lots of little particles floating around...

Really interesting, thanks! Shame that we don't use such ancient and simple technologies anymore.

Andy Ward's Ancient Pottery channel teaches you how to make pottery 100% naturally, including sourcing your own clay & making a backyard kiln.

I can't understand why humanity left using clay water bottles? It's waaaay healthier and waaay eco friendly !
Also.. I don't know if this is a placebo or real but water tastes better when you drink it from clay bottles. 🤎

It tastes better because the water isn't leeching any chemicals from plastic

i read somewhere that it's because the clay pots are basically making the water alkaline and it has trace minerals from the clay.

@@hexlhieA You know that there isn't strong evidence that alkaline water actually does anything right?
