My wife and I rode a red R65LS up the remote west coast of Australia on our honeymoon in 1987. It was a magical experience. Camping on beaches, catching lobsters from the ocean. Carpets of wildflowers. Very fond memories of that trip and that sturdy versatile little bike.

That all sounds wonderful. What a great honeymoon that must have been. Thanks for sharing!

It was a great event, wasn't it? Did you by chance make it up to the 100th BMW Motorrad Anniversary this past month? Glad your bike is in the video, thanks for watching!

@andymueller82 there are a bunch of bmw videos on there, also including a crash on a 1974 r75/6.

Did this bring back memories. Back in the seventies, I bought my used 1970 R60/5 and 1974 R90/6 from Stan's in Doylestown, and my new 1976 R75/6 and Red Smoke R100S from Bob. Halcyon days they were. I miss them all, but my "Big Red Who Smokes" R100S was epic!

Red Smoke to me was the best paint scheme ever! And yes, an R100S truly is epic!

It's poetic that the BMW air-heads have reappeared on everybody's radar. They were respected back in the day but were also considered weird. After all these years, we realize now the reliability and the longevity of the design and the really astounding thing is the fact that many are still running and looked to have hardly aged. For me personally, one of the most iconic motorcycles from the 70's was the BMW R90S in Daytona Orange. Maybe in a way, it explains that now being old, I drive a BMW M2 in charcoal grey.

Yeah the R90S is iconic for sure. Hans came over for that models' anniversary too, sadly I had no idea that was happening so missed out. Personally I didn't care for the Daytona Orange as much, it's too "flashy" for me.

Glad you enjoyed it. These are so much fun to "produce", and a lot of work. But so worth it in the end!

Owned an R65LS in the early nineties. Sold it cos it had a vibration at certain revs with the 1000cc BMs did not have. It was annoying. Other than that, it was a good bike for driving across the city.

A few of my friends that own the R65LS swear by it. I never owned or rode one, so couldn't speak to it.
