Do Robots Dream of Eternal Sleep? (Piano Cover) - ULTRAKILL

- A shorter composition, but I really like Do Robots Dream of Eternal Sleep? and I think it’s underrated. I used more audio effects than I usually do, particularly heavier reverb and paulstretch.
I’m very proud of the art. Each color can be focused on separately to reveal a different aspect of violence: The black shows a landscape torn apart and full of industrial marks (violence against others), the red shows a bloodstained spire and bleeding heart split by the edges of the image (violence against the self), and the white shows a ruined version of a heavenly tower (violence against God). The cross and landscape are covered in stray pixels, which represent the barbed wire and destruction common to war.

Music by: also me!

"Mother, mother... Mother of me,
I know I know you would hate me so, and mother of me, I do too. But I would not feel, not think, *not dream,* were it not for you in my rusted iron womb...
This song gives me an impression of never starting. The initial melody seems to be building towards something, but never ends, like a sleep that never reaches a dreaming state. It really feels like an eternal sleep.
Huh. That’s amazing. Now I feel sorry for someone. Thanks.
Out of all your covers, this one is my personal fav. This song feels so much better when it’s translated into piano, it seems so much more emotional!
Do war machines dream of peace, to finish their task or do they dream of war, to countinue to do the thing they were built for
this song makes me feel like i'm slipping in and out of consciousness
this song has always been a standout track to me. It really feels like it shouldn't be there, like it has no purpose besides being something you'll hear for about 30 seconds when you first enter 7-2. But that's why I find it so peculiar, there is a track in the game files listed as "7-2 intro" which is a heavily stripped down version of the clean variant of hear the siren song call of death that you can hear in place of this track in an unlisted teaser video for 7-2 (th-cam.com/video/omWGfRUGQUI/w-d-xo.html). But instead of that, we got an entirely original track that sounds nothing like any other song in the entire game. It sounds almost dream-like, akin to Portal 2's soundtrack, comprised of some instruments from the main 7-2 theme, and some others we hear nowhere else (like an accordion in the combat part I think). And then the combat part itself is entirely comprised of a melody from hear the siren song call of death, the same one that is singled out as the clean version in the official OST release on hakita's channel. The same melody that has alarm sirens blaring and a distinctly somber tone compared to the rest of the song. I have a hunch this track was composed specifically to draw attention to this melody, be it that of a prime soul or something else.
tl;dr I like song, I think melody will be used again in the future
Dream-like is the term I was looking for to describe this!
surely it's the P-3 leitmotif, it has all the right attributes and yeah does just seem odd how "singled out" it is
@floofyfox627 there's not really any development for a prime soul in this layer though, no portrait, no lore books telling stories about any potential candidates (maybe you could count the guy who gave minos the minotaur) so I doubt they're very related to violence
it feels very childlike and celebratory, in a way. a lullaby for the most violent creature to ever walk the earth. humans fooled themselves into violence for the sake of countries, ideals, and beliefs. but the machine doesn't bother, it only kills because it must eat. so a lullaby is made for the little thing that doesn't even think of why it kills, that never needed to do so. the perfect species, the thing that doles out eternal sleep to crowds. does it dream of what it does?
No they don't, their artificial "human" heart however does. Not the human's heart, the "human" heart.
This theme gives off the feeling of that immense stress, pain and agony as the Gutterman you've been assigned to enters battle and bullets start flying, missiles hit it's shield, it goes into high gear to fight back and all you can do is to wish that you either pass out from all the agony caused by the blood that turns cold from circling back and forth between you and your "Guardian" or just die right away.
But you won't, you'll just dream of eternal sleep.
i cant deal with ultrkaill comments theyre sometimes just the most shit( shit here being a EXTERMELY POSITIVE word) ever
@@soup9911 I know enough about us ultrakill fans to not take offense here.
To me, this comment made me remember that not all humans can accept all types of blood. Imagine if you get put into one of these contraptions and put on the battlefield and the machine accepts blood that your body will reject. I looked it up and the symptoms of getting the wrong blood transfusion can be chills and fever, but those are just the lesser symptoms. Sometimes patients who get the wrong blood type experience a feeling of doom(actual terminology). I cant stand to imagine the horror of being trapped in a coffin and just waiting to die that way.
My day has been ruined from this :(
they do dream of eternal sleep
This legit sounds like a movie score
Imagine if ultrakill got a movie adaptation Chris nolan lvl of production it would sound like this with more grandiose orchestration
finally someone who cares about volume and not just having every note the same volume! great cover!

Needless to say but your covers are still so good, love how you portray the frenetic emotion of the original OST
Yay Goose made my fave in piano good job
this is a very difficult song to make sound right on instruments, and yet you did exactly that. Bravo!
DAAAAAYUUUUMNNNNNNN
Hello fellow RW enthusiast.
This is one of my favorite songs in ultrakill. It has so much emotion in it and juxtaposes so much of the games violence in a somber way that most of the story points to, but is often forgotten. Side note, overlapping both the original and the piano cover is also gorgeous and they compliment each other really well- This is fantastic.
Its like trailer music for Act 3
Incredible work. These are way more than just covers now, man
This is so pretty
holy shit. this cover genuinely blew my eyes right open. this is brilliant
Oh em goodness this is amazing
Still my favorite of all your music honestly I prefer it over the original
The melody from Siren Song feels a lot more recognizable in this version for some reason
could i get the transcription of this? i have an accordion and want to try learning this on it
Living up to the name, the beginning has a very heavy, almost industrial age feel to it, like one of those big pianos with huge pipes at the top (not sure what they’re called)
The latter half of the song fading out definitely captures a sense of dream-likeness to it, as if the unconscious mind is ascending to a dream realm.
you mean organs?
@@akronimania3743 I wanted to say organs, but organs give off a completely different sound. I’m not sure if there’s something that looks like a small organ but still sounds like a piano…
…though I was probably talking purely imagery, so perhaps it was just an organ. Thank you.
@@Mysteriousmachine1 the instrument used and the one you're describing is an accordion, which is very often associated with early 20th century Europe
Accordion
@@Mysteriousmachine1 sorry for the necropost but maybe some weird version of a harpsichord?
do you know what is the tempo of the song? and that of the siren song of death? im trying to find out how it would sound to put the two together but this song seems to be of way a different tempo than siren call song so it doesnt work well
do you have midi/notes by any chance?
Is there sheet music for this anywhere?
In my discord, yes.
You forgot to put "War sounds" at the end.
lol how would I do that with piano
