The older woman who was shown throughout the video is Yoon Bok Hee who is the original singer of this song. Each episode of Immortal Songs has a theme/person to which it is dedicated to. The performance of Ailee singing 'I Will Always Love You' was part of an episode where the theme was about Western/English songs. This one is towards Yoon Bok Hee and performers in this episode sing her songs. Another performance from this episode is Son Seung Yeon singing 'Move' which I highly suggest you check out; she's almost like a young SoHyang and I'm sure you'll love her :) continue the great videos
Ailee has a lot of Immortal Song performances under her belt but this is by far my favourite, it's just magical.
Actually ailee explained that this was the second time that the song was been singing with the original lyrics, this song was written and sang for a singing competition years ago and after that no one have singing it with the original version until Ailee
Am i the only one who prefers Ailee's version over Sohyang's? I mean, the feels from her rendition is just amazing. Sohyang is a gospel singer and she sang it that way. However, not every performance has to be about crazy vocals display. TBH, Ailee has shown her vocal prowess in many other song performances but this one is my absolute favourite of her live perf so far. I even love this more than I will always love you. Just my opinion

Naah... you're not the only one. So Hyang is without a doubt the more skilled vocalist, but I much prefer Ailee's version for its simple arrangement (and her agility too, I love Ailee's runs despite her chesty mix). I love So Hyang and she's without a doubt an incredible vocalist (and my 2nd fave after Ailee) but I love Ailee's timbre more.

Yoon Bok Hee was probably the apex Korean singer in her day......She performed with Elvis Presley in Vegas. I could be wrong but not only the original singer but also the composer. Everyone is the Korean PoP Spiritual like "I Believe" or "When You Walk Through The Storm". If you can check those out by the late great Jackie Wilson

Comparisons are inevitable and not always fair. So Hyang is a phenomenal singer and great in her own right but for us who do not live in Korea, the power and texture of Ailee's voice and style appeals to us who live in USA just a bit more. Ailee is truly an unbelievable singer but she also has am ability to put on mesmerizing performances.
