Vrable was 13-21 in the final two years of his Tenn tenure. With Arthur Smith (Yes the same one whose turning around things in Pitt) as OC Vrable was 20-12. With all other OC's he was 34-33 with everyone else. He was 2-2 in post season games with Smith 0-1 with everyone else. Vrable is not some historically great coach who was dealt a bad hand. He was an above average coach who had a meddling owner. His win percentage isn't much higher than Nagy's is. Bring in someone who can create an offense that works in the modern NFL. If we need to get ride of the GM do that too.
I don't think I've heard any call Vrabel is a " Great " Coach. But, he's good, qualified, and the correct disposition to deal with the abad locker room. There is no coach available that's more experience
@@sevinbamuels6560 The problem with Vrabel is that his last 2 years in Tennessee was alarming because he failed to show he could build a competent staff there. I wouldn't trust him whatsoever. @christianjames92 You casual fans think that a coach Job is to just call play. No, They manage every part of the team. What about the Defense. What about the Special teams? What about the other players besides the QB with a slightly above average ceiling.
The Bear's had the Lions beat in the first game until Teven Jenkins penalty took them out of touchdown and field goal range. So, I'm not sure how Ben Johnson is an upgrade over Matt Eberflus.
Offensive line additions by Ryan Poles (Lucas Patrick, Nate Davis, Braxton Jones, Ryan Bates, Doug Kramer, Coleman Shelton, Kiran Amagedie, Jake Curhan, & THE ONLY somewhat bright spots of the bunch…. Matt Pryor/Darnell Wright)…… 3/10 from the “Oline guru” 😅
Ben Johnson is asking 14mil per year. Ownership never goes over 5per so Warren went to get more $$$. They cleared around 8mil which, is the Avg for a coach today 😅. They just do not get it. So, gonna be an issue there.
Matt Nagy, Shane Waldron, or some of these flash in the pan offensive coordinators are not a comparison to Ben Johnson. Ben Johnson’s offenses have been at or near the top the last three years.
Still trying to figure out why Tevin wasn't moved back to RG. Him and Wright were beasty together. Nate Davis is gone now and they forgot about the combo
Taking Ben is a risk, but it is a necessary risk, you can’t get hung up on the fact that he would be a first time head coach, we have seen too many cases where that didn’t matter, i.e. the rest of the nfc north, Kyle shanahan, Sean mcvay, all of those coaches were 1st time coaches when the took over and they’ve all done well. Plus from how Ben has presented himself, it is clear that he is put together well and knows what he wants, a coach with a clear cut vision and already telling you that there are certain he will not put up with, is exactly the type of coach this team needs
Imagine picking a Hinsdale kid in the 3rd round who missed his entire senior year with injury…… and the kid can’t get on the field after your starter breaks his leg lol
I feel like we have to give Ben a chance. When he leaves Detroit, Detroit loses their dynamic offense. Ben wants to be hc and call plays so boom offense is taken care of for years to come. We don’t have to worry about our OC doing good and leaving like most. The Andy Reid, Matt lafluer way etc etc I feel like Ben Johnson is gonna be one of them coaches. Let’s do it! If they want to save Caleb and make him elite they need Ben point blank 🤷🏼♂️ the defense will be fine
I don't think Ben Johnson is the coach for this team this team right now. What it needs is a tough coach who doesn't take anybody s*** and straightens people out. They have a great team but I don't think anybody has a direction of respect for anybody. Putting Ben Johnson and this team won't make a difference. If you ask me, I think John gruden would be the best coach for this team. They need someone to respect and I don't see much respect and that team right now. I know a lot of people won't agree with me. It worked for Chicago and 85. When mike ditka coached this team i know that it was a 2 headed monster with buddy. Ryan's defense, which stole the show that whole year but ditka, was a no-nonsense coach and everybody respected him. I think we get away from coaches like that. It's what's missing in the n. Fl nowadays. We have to go back to that, especially with a young team who needs direction. Discipline is the key to success
Rex Ryan would be a Great Head Coach here imo. 🤷🏻 Only guy who can Install the 4-6 Bear which would dominate in 2025. He definitely pumps his players up. Runs an Elite Defense. Also, Close friends with the OC who developed Russell Wilson. I would give Rex what we should of game Vic Fangio. A Lifetime contact as DC.
Josh McDaniels system has NEVER worked outside of NE and Tom Brady. He is deeply hated by players around the league. Tom was exhausted with him as much as Bill. It would be a disaster.
This guys slobbering over McDaniels is scary. Dude has not gotten his offense off with anybody but Brady. He alienated entire locker rooms in Vegas and Denver. FFS, do some research guys.
How do u know that Ben Johnson will be a good HC??? He's only been a OC n yes he's really good at that but he doesn't run the whole team. U need a leader of men for HC. U all have many problems besides qb!! Get a HC thats a proven leader n a good OC to help Caleb!! Something about Johnson's attitude that is worrisome n ive heard this past 3 yrs when he started interviewing for HC jobs!!
What has McDaniels done with any quarterbacks? Tom Brady didn’t need his guidance nor tutelage. McDaniels has not molded any young quarterbacks either. So he would not be best for Caleb Williams. Oh no. The best choice for Kayla Williams is Ben Johnson. We need our franchise quarterback to be the best he can be in order for this franchise to be successful. It will take more than that, but that must be done.
Every QB during that NE era did well When Tom went down. he had Matt Cassel, Jimmy G, Jacoby. Clearly after they all left to get contracts and it was difference when they left Josh. He clashed with Cutler and got the best out Kyle Orton. He got Mac Jones for a year and was 10-7 he threw for 3800 yards before he left for Vegas. Jimmy g and Cassel got contracts because of him. I would gladly take Mcdaniels and pair him with a talent like Caleb.
@ nope. Kyle Orton had 4 good games and the bottom fell out. McDaniels has no demonstrated or sustained success outside of Tom Brady and backups don’t count. Garrapolo was mid at best in that system. What happened in Vegas? McDaniels played mind games with Derick Carr, ran him out of town with no plan, then proceeded to go 6-11 with a team that went to the playoffs the year before… oh yeah, he didn’t finish the season because he was run out of the locker room by players and coaches. Do not put this stooge anywhere near my QB.
Yo pat I do not see how y’all fit Josh McDaniels and they have the offense coordinator Ben Johnson won 15 million a year that will be a full or five year deal if it doesn’t work you see the bear is paying that money out if we bring in Ben allow him to pick his own quarterback coach and his offensive line coach that guy we got there now as the offensive line coach is trash man we might be going to a 3/4 defense we goin to need a head coach caller who can keep the quarterback in his lane we all know how this goes. If it doesn’t work out in 3 to 4 years, the coach will see that wasn’t his man at quarterback. Go bears👍
Funny I don’t hear HIM saying this!!! I heard he DOESNT WANT TO BE ‘HEAD COACH’, he likes the SOON TO BE ‘SUPERBOWL CHAMPION ‘LIONS’ To CONTINUE’A DYNASTY’!!!! Sorry CHICAGO 🙄

We have never had a good coach for longer than 1 year, and then the coach was lucky (Ditka). Lovie was decent and built a great team but not then mismanaged the Super Bowl and lost - Ditka was given a great team and coached it to be a trainwreck. No coach will be successful here - the Bears are dysfunctional and thus will be successful occasionally by luck, but they never will win consistently. It is not the coach that is the problem it is the ownership and that is not changing anytime soon. the Bears lucked into Williams and almost ruined him. Any coach coming into this organization will suffer and perhaps ruin their career
Bears will be bad for at least another 10-15 years. They have to do everything perfect from here on in to compete with the other teams in this division, just not gonna happen
Why? We took one coordinator that called plays for 3 games for KC and another that was about to be fired by Indy. Ben Johnson has been calling plays for 3 seasons, all of which have been great and the main reason the Lions are good again.
Ben Johnson isn’t the reason Detroit good it Brad Holmes he the architect of their success Ben is just one of the pieces of the puzzle. A lot of great offensive coaches made poor head coaches.
Yall gonna get stuck with Lincoln Riley. Caleb needs a YES Man as a coach and no self respecting credible coach is gonna want to be reduced to Caleb's babysitter

Seriously love you guys and the show always but you all need to spend a week outside of the Chicago Sports media bubble. At this point the conversations that are being had in Chicago Sports media are complete delusion. Ben Johnson or any other quality head coach candidate is not coming to chicago. Not for Caleb Williams as everybody seems to think. No quality head coach candidate is going to risk coming to this franchise. I get that we're all Chicago fans and we love the Bears but at the end of the day Caleb is still the 6th best quarterback from his class and he might even be the 7th we still haven't seen Jordan Travis yet and bragging about breaking Chicago Bears passing records is pathetic and embarrassing. Let's not forget that 75% of Caleb's yards are in garbage time, and of those 60% of them are YAC. Caleb's completion rates are bad, worst in the NFL on passes over 15 yards. I get the hope for the great USC hope, but there's no arguing that he is not the generational quarterback that we were sold. And he will be serviceable until February of 2027 when we either trade him away or he asks for a trade because Chicago is not good for his brand
If he leaves our Detroit Lions team you better hand over complete control of your team, because everyone needs to be let go including Caleb and start fresh.
