Kevin, the sub-charge only applies if you are taking a taxi to or from the airport, or the driver lifts your luggage into the taxi, the only other time it applies is when you call the taxi to collect you from a hotel, bar, restaurant etc. Might only be 2.10 euro but if they are doing that all day long its thousands of euros that are being charged each week multiply that by 52 weeks, its a lot of money they are stealing!!

Great advice re the Taxi scam. To be fair I’ve never noticed it. We always tip taxis and the Waiting staff at the hotel’s restaurants etc. we appreciate they work very hard to provide the service they do.
David from the Montecristo was a taxi driver. The prices of taxis are regulated by the government. There is no way you can make a living wage if you just charge the standard amount. I’m not excusing the scam, but I think something needs to change. The best thing to do is to say you need a receipt for work as you get in the taxi. And then tip him two euros before you set off. And speak a few words of Spanish.
agree Tim wages need to be higher I always tip but going around the corner and pressing that button is annoying they would be hit hard if uber gets approved. I Tipped the driver 15 euros on way to airport as traffic on way back was really bad due to accident he would have took ages to get back .

I had the same scam done to me in September so asked for a receipt and spoke to the office to complain and was told you need to ask for a printed receipt and not a hand written one as it will have why they put the extra charge printed on then they can call the driver in about the scam.

Kevin we have been caught out with this scam a number of times so learnt a lesson We now request a receipt before journey starts as David mentioned in comments A few times there was a difference of €5 extra for the same journey so thank you for valued advice x👍👍

We just came back from 6 nights in the olivina apartments ,really nice place ,paid £340 pp With jet 2 ( booked 4 days before we went Enjoyed it looked at going back in Jan ,but prices are £800 So will do as I always do and look again a week before I wanna go
Taxi drivers do same all over, in Barnsley South Yorkshire they start at 3 quid for a late taxi at 11.30 them press the fucker again when dropping off. I called the police last time as he wouldn’t let me leave I said I’d sit there all night, what he didn’t know Is I was a working journalist and recorded it all. No need to rip generous normal people off like you said he lost a standard tip

The H10 used to be called the Oasis when we first started staying there, then the H10 bought it and changed it to Big Sur.
