    This was really good. I've saved it so I can watch again and take notes. There's a lot that he talked about. Tribes separating and then some of them going extinct and it seems like each tribe had their own creation stories. I'd been wondering about where all the different stories of creation came from, how they came to be. It seems like part of making a tribe is the creation story.
    Anyway this was really good.

    There is a researcher, (found on YT) Dr. Nathaniel Jeanson, who has been studying N American male DNA - and it sounds spot on to the links to the Athabascans, and further back to central Asia. Male DNA helps to better plot a time line.
    Thanks for a great guest!

    Shi cheii has been the great duty of keeping - the teachings of our beginnings. I truly listen with great intend, I cried and my heart has been soften - knowing my Dine roots, teachings, songs. He spoke with a lot compassion. As a young child - I heard my Tlchee beginngs. He reminded me of hearing my aunt and uncles talking at the ceremonies. It so much to hear and take in - at the time.

    I’m Manygoats born for Yei Dine’i Tachanii. I was told by my great grandfather we came from the east and the reason why there’s Navajos up north was a fraction from Chaco Canyon. Those group of people were pushed away cause of the great gambler. The Tachinii clan were named for the red paint that was applied on the forehead during warfare so they can see for miles or spot the enemy at a distance. So there is different stories from different places and different places meant these people brought different purposes on ways to live. I appreciate your story so I wanted to add to your stories you have collected. I also have stories from my grandparents. I’d like to share some with you and hear more.

    It's called reservation because the land is reserved for the future source of fossil fuel.
    Navajos are only living on it for a short time until the government reclaim it to take the coal, oil and gas out.

    • @Spagoshi
      @Spagoshi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting take on the meaning of reservation. I'm wondering if it's the future source, then it should not be touched until our people are gone. Why is it being used now even though you stated it as future? The government has taken a lot from everyone: land, taxes, & healthcare, etc; what are the solutions to your statement? One of many reasons why we do these videos is to not only share information & history but to share the challenges & to ask the question: What's the solution? As a community, we can figure out solutions & overcome the false sense of isolation. Thanks for checking out our video & we appreciate your input.

      @@Spagoshi I believe that our kids are in two worlds, on both sides of this world they struggle, some take the white man's side and prosper, others stay and continue in the traditional beliefs. They too prosper. But the ones who are influence by both are in some dilemma, they don't want to disrespect the traditional ways, but they wish to be in the white man's culture.
      As one movie that shows in the IHS. Where you see a young man herding sheep listening to rap music.
      Today generation want to be set free to join the rest of the world.
      So goes with the land, the resources are there, the tribe should take advantage of it, as the Ute tribe has done. I worked in ignacio area for 10 yrs, the reservation takes in royalties, but they still have not done anything to let it's reservation grow.
      Navajos need to use the resources and make good of it, set up oil refineries so the next generation will have a reason to stay, maybe they accept the traditional ways if they stay rather then look for jobs in big Cities. THANK YOU for replying to my comment.

    I tell bilagaana and yiilgááh dine’é in Rio Rancho and Albuquerque, just because this place isn’t on the reservation doesn’t mean it’s not part of my sacred homeland! I hate the fact that they think that. That they can go around and do what they’re doing here. The solution is to send them east of the Mississippi River like the original treaties state

I am a native Maori of AOTEAROA( the long white cloud) now known and named New Zealand 🇳🇿 in the South Pacific Ocean 🌊 by a British colonial criminal by the name of Captain James Cook. @@Spagoshi kia ora ra ano ( hello again) Spagoshi . Yes I very much do still reside in AOTEAROA my brother. I am of the Kai Tahu, Waitaha, kati Mamoe n Ngati Tumatakokiri people on my fathers side. (South Island Tribes or Clans as you would know it). And on my mothers side I am of the Ngapuhi ,Kahungungu ,Ngati Raukawa people on my Mothers side (North Island Tribes). Peter Jackson’s lord of the rings trilogy movie series is a goodins bro. It definitely put Aotearoa on the map for a movie making location and lifted the tourism pre Covid lock dwn. Any revenue there goes str8 to our government. But I suggest that in directly tribes would have benefited tourism wise huh. Tribes here are only getting on to monetary revenues now or within the last 25yrs since treaty fiscal payouts. In 94, 95. My Ngapuhi people are in a stalemate there with our government as the government only pay out money and don’t give us bck the land stolen from under our noses 👃 after the treaty of Waitangi was signed bck in 1840 by our esteemed tribal Chiefs bck then bro. Um we’re a funny bunch tribal wise here Spagoshi we have very differing opinions we all don’t see eye to eye on similar tribal issues. Enforced colonisation has wrecked us brother. And we are only just hanging on legally and morally if I can say that. Now money entitlements after payouts in some tribes to date have split family members within the tribes here now since the payouts too. It compounding and very sad to say the least. The land is everything to tribes here and most have sold out to be paid by a few aye. I was brought up with this saying my frnd….Money to us is like a drop of Mildew on a blade of grass. When the sun arises the money 💰 drys up. But the land ( whenua) is for ever.
