Not sure why people are ragging on him. The Looming Tower is an incredibly good book.

Seems pretty spot on. Criticism here must be islamists and their sympathisers. Particularly around minute 26. Including the current 2015 palestinian uprising. All planned well over a decade ago. Do not dismiss this talk.

May I suggest that guys named "Mohammed" maybe should pick a European nickname to be known by? Show some sign of assimilation into the society that they are born in? As a first or second generation immigrant, take some responsibility to defuse the tension, and not be part of a mass group of men who all have the same first name, to show some originality and respect for the name of the Prophet by stopping its over-use.

This man wrote the book without mentioning that the moneytrail on 911 led to Mahmoud Ahmed from the ISI, who was in Washington meeting with head of CIA a week before. He wrote the book witout mentioning of the historic involment of CIA in drug-trafficking in that area.
He wrote the script for "The Siege" from 1998, the (psyops-)movie that depicts a muslim attack on america.
Thats the most rented movie in america after 911. Thats called psychological conditioning.
    Wake up people!

Gulbideen Hekmatyar talking about the 1993 bombing blames "whoever gave them green cards" being responsible. The CIA gave various Afghan and Egyptian and Saudi fighters green cards to come to the US and to train to fight.

" finally I had to take a job " I shall speak in a calm, non threatening tone so they can relate to me. generic speech for a pay check, no more, no less.

He DID mention US involvement with mujahadeen in Afgahnistan during the Afgahn/Soviet war

  • @1michelemichele1

@rdavid789 No, they didn't, but the US helped foster it's growth, that's true. The US funded covert operations against the Soviets all through the Cold War -- they did it in Africa, South & Central America, and the ME, and the Soviets did the same thing. It was a power game between the two, and some presidents were more aggressive than others. There is no one who would LOVE to get out of Afghanistan & Iraq than the US: it costs too much, progress is slow & shaky. Listen to this lecture, really.

the United States Senate Republican Policy Committee would disagree, writing on Kosovo and Bosnia, US involvement with Al-Qaeda and Osama Bin Laden in joint military operations.
    google it

  • @gg_rider

    KrGsMrNKusinagi0,
Well, read the Republican Senate report. I don't know if they literally fought battles side by side, but this was US-controlled territory were the Pentagon and MPRI were conducting operations on the ground with Al-Qaeda, according to the Repub Party and according to Macedonian witnessses.

Six years on and a now-dead bin Laden got his wish. ISAF and US forces are now engaged in an unconventional and possibly 'unwinnable war' that serves its purpose by giving western forces forward deployment capability in case 1) the ISI gains strength and/or 2) the Kashmir dispute escalates into something far worse. Measured against his death wish, we have a slow bleed instead of massive trauma.

Not necessarily. Islamic extremists are now targeting modern military forces that kick their asses on a daily basis rather than concentrating on civilian targets. It isn't a war with an ending. It's simply a reality of living on a planet with billions of muslims - a fraction of them become militant. Let them flock to Syria/Iraq rather than the US.

Except for modern mathematics, beautiful art and architecture, and some of the most amazing music ever composed. But asshats like praaht18 who are utterly ignorant of history can make stupid statements like the above because he/she is Islamophobic and a fool.
