I'm a descendent of Clan Johnstone. We still feuding bro? LoL🖤💯 The Johnstone/Johnston/Johnson DNA is still brutal to this day. After coming to the new land in 1682 NC., They remained fighters. Fighting for the Continental Regular Army in the Revolution and for the CSA during the war of Northern Aggression in 1861-1865. In-fact, two different Johnstone Clan families arrived together and stayed together moving into Tennessee, primarily Davidson, County (Nashville) into the late 1700's / 1800ish

The Maxwell’s also landed in the Carolinas and my line then settle in Tennessee too. Very Interesting. Eventually we moved to Cali.

It is always nice to hear just one side of the story. We were all border reivers back then, which necessarily means atrocities were committed on all sides, Johnston, Douglas, Graham, Elliot and Maxwell alike. Dryfe Sands explanation here is simply the same thing you hear when someone attacks with a two to one advantage, and gets their ass kicked. Oh, they surprised us, oh, they had warning, oh, they cheated-we were coming to kill them and they killed us-unfair! The fact remains that with 2000 men, 1300 were killed by a mere 800 due to the ineptness of Captian Oliphant not having control over his horsemen and Lord Maxwell himself being shown the error of his ways by William Johnstone of Kirkhill. It seems as if Danny-boy above wishes to continue the feud, but then again, some people never learn.

Aye, you’re a Maxwell alright. These days, we’re all Scots, but some in a clan of wankers will always be wankers! My grandfather always told me the story of the Lockerbie Lick and took pride in the ferocity of our clan. We were the predators of the borders yes, but also her fiercest protectors. Never forget Maxwell, we Johnstons are Never Unprepared and Aye Ready!

its pronounced "ed in bur a", u as in "but". Its easy, and it makes Scots happy.
James Clerk Maxwell through his mother (Maxwell name adopted by husband) and the ninth Laird John Maxwell have a common ancestor.
My attitude is the number of ancestor grow exponentially (2 power n) the further back you go. Eventually you will come across a murderer, and a king, usually the same person.

I am a descendent of clan Johnstone. Funny how you left out the beginning of the story and the maxwells burning of our Lockwood tower and imprisoning our chief just 8 years prior. Ah the clan bias remains but you still lost 😘 Aye ready!

Maybe we stop feuding and realize we all have bigger problems coming our way. My good friend was a Johnston. Bigger problems on the way than this.

Johnstones did seem to be very bad people and profited by what they did,,,,Mawells did have most land for centuries there ,and mother's relatives married into Mawells ,then Johnstones ,,Mother relatives Jardines ,but Mawells did have the land on the clan map ,and ,for centures ,no other clan was there ,,,
