Book Club: Expressive Sketchbooks

Book Club is free and open to all. We are discussing Helen Wells' book, Expressive Sketchbooks. amzn.to/467JHYq and we worked through her exercise, "Beauty in the Mundane." To participate, please have the following supplies ready:
- Sketchbook
- Golden SoFlat Matte Acrylic Paint: shrsl.com/459cq
- Paintbrush and Water Jar
- Writing/Drawing Tools
- Optional: Apron, Heat Gun, Rag, Baby Wipes

Julie, this is my favorite book. Last August I used it as a class and spent the entire month working through it. It was so much fun. Thank you for reviewing this book in book club. This is the advantage of watching replay: Julie your style may not be the same, but the concepts and and approach are so similar. I have been following you for years since you were on PBS and my style is totally different from you, but I learn so much from you because of your concepts. You and Helen are spectacular.

I finally got my copy of the book. It was in my shopping cart for a while. It's a great book. I started adding tabs to the book and I'm only about halfway through. I started a pineapple painting while re-watching this episode of the Book Club. As always, I appreciate the inspiration you always offer.

I found writing out a 'mindmap' of ideas and inspiration very helpful. I have an Idea Board already, but found the process of writing things down led to more ideas. I also found the prompt of looking for themes to explore very timely for me. TY for bringing this book to my attentiin through book club Julie!

I use liquitex acrylics and matte medium, but my book pages end up sticking together ☹️ anything to stop that?

Rub on and buff some Tim Holtz Distress Glaze or Judikins Micro Glaze as the last coat/layer because nothing will stick after that.
