I remember what my father told me when I started racing 1/4 midgets: Go out there, stick to your line, stay out of everyone's way, bring the car back in one piece and most importantly have fun. Same thing applies to IRacing. Over time you will get quicker as you gain more experience. You have to learn to lose before you can learn to win.

Lufex my dad taught me the same thing, I started in a street stock class, at about mid season he started letting me run and pass, but for the most part it was just go out stay out of the way and just run your own race! in a 22 car field over the season, I finished 7th in points and took home Rookie of the Year!
      Lessons Learned were:
      1) Consistency Counts
      2) Sometimes you can go a little faster by going a little slower!

I have spent the last 12 months building my rig its pretty cool and cost way way to much so three days ago i got iracing my first sim ive just been running test for the last three days and have been really edgy about my first race, thanks for this video i think tomorrow may be the day nice and easy. Has to be the trick. Thanks again mate took away a lot of apprehension.

Got my D following your advice nice clean fastish laps took around 9 time trials no accidents avg between .06 and .09 per session took 3 days i know the track real well now and because of the 400+ laps my times are up there at the front end of d races anyway. Cheers

I do recall, getting out of the rookie class was particularly difficult. I now have a Class A in both Oval and Dirt Oval, but i did exactly this at first, but the speed does come eventually as well as keeping it clean. Also, to clarify, you gain more safety rating when you pass or are passed by other cars, for instance, i did a 50 lapper at Charlotte in Class B XFINITY Series, bad pit strategy pushed me from 3rd to 15th. I worked my way back to 5th with no incidents and I gained 0.89 safety rating points, earning me my class A in the process. Once you upgrade your license, avoid anything below a C class! you can lose your license and rookie and D class races are demolition derbies!

Noah C I’m still not sure what “simcade” means. The cars don’t feel 100% as heavy as the ones in iR, but I can’t really see any reason to have a different classification. And the cars in iR are just as tail-happy as their counterparts in PC2.

One difference I would make is that if you have to pit in the 2nd half of a rookie race, the pace you gain from a new set of tires will more than make up for the time lost putting them on. You're already paying for the time on pit road, might as well get new rubber.

This video is old, so im not expecting a reply, but what do wins do towards my liscense promotion? Im Class D Oval with a 2.79 safety rating and recently got my first win.

    • @D600Active
      @D600Active 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

FeaR Clippz As I understand it, wins don't affect license progression. License is purely about Safety Rating and SR is determined by ratio of corners to incidents. If you keep an average of better than 33.8 corners per incident point (Class D 4.0) for a while that'll get you instabumped to Class C. Or if you are above 22.5 corners per incident (Class D 3.0) at the end of the season you'll get an end of season promotion. (SR tracks your last few races only and the most recent ones are weighted to count more than the somewhat less recent ones). (and there is a minimum participation requirement for promotion too)

Michael Proper There are two possible ways to avoid this. Either you qualify in the first places, or back off to let everyone pass at the first lap. It may sound counterintuitive and anticlimactic, but really all you need is to get out of rookies so that you can start working on your SR and IR. Then and only then, you will be able to have good racing consistently

"light" contact will bring up the incident point hud element, but it won't count towards your 17 infractions. It's known as a "0x", and bump drafting is a perfect example of one.

  • @richrinehart1083

When you calibrate your gas pedal stop calibrating the pedal when it still has just a little bit of travel left. That way you guarantee that you are getting full throttle. Dont do the brakes that way or you will lock up prematurely

iRacing requires you to have a lot of dedication, and willingness to spend ass loads of money for content that you still have to pay $110 per year to retain access to.
It's a great racing sim, but the majority of the content I have isn't being used in hardly any official races, instead I now have to purchase whatever car or track is being used in that series. I remember having to do the same Mazda MX5 race 5 times before I finally got to Class D license, and still, the majority of those races are off limits to me.

because it's a short race and no cautions, the only thing you'd want to do is run a clean as you can. take care of the tires so you can stay comfortable at the end of the race... too many jokers try to win in the first 10 laps and burn their RF up and then can't enter the turns worth squat by lap 15.
