The lyrics are so fuckin' absurdist but oh my lord was it worth it for The Rev's Vocal abilities, the LBC show proved that as he did both the usual screaming but also did the backing female vocals in such a lovely way 👌

As the biggest A7X fan alive, this song blows chunks. It's actually so awful.
I honestly didn't know people who weren't offended easily disliked this song that much. I think instrumentally it's excellent, and the story of the song is "Guy is scared of losing long-time gf, kills her, continues relationship with corpse. Dead gf's soul comes back and murders him in the same fashion. He repents to her in hell or wherever and they both decide to come back and go on a killing spree."
Obviously the necrophilia shit is gross, but I feel like it was meant to be written from the POV of a total gross POS, it's not like you're meant to like the guy, and there are so many bands who've done that. Sleep Now in the Fire by RATM jumps to mind, or Stan by Eminem. Stan actually has a lot of parallels, but is written more seriously. I guess I just don't get the hate.
It's a dumb goofy song weird af, but tbh if anyone listens to death metal, deathcore or slam they likely listen to shit as bad if not worse. Some death metal and a good amount of Slam is truly sickening lyrically

The reason you get Nightmare Before Christmas vibes from it is because the strings, horns and orchestra were done with the help of Marc Mann and Steve Bartek, both of whom were in the band Oingo Boingo with Danny Elfman who did the music for Nightmare Before Christmas. If I'm not wrong Steve was Danny's right hand man while working on a lot of his other projects.
yes from a lyrical standpoint this song is weird but compositionally it is fantastic in my opinion, how it tells a story whether or not you like said story.

I had no idea so many people were offended by this song. It's absolutely beautiful musically and is just a bit of fun lyrically. Lyrics aren't even that outlandishly fucked up compared to some other stuff like Cannibal corpse, Infant Annihilator and other similar bands thematically.
Something people neglect to talk about with this song, is it was originally intended to be on a Halloween EP, after being inspired by AFI's Halloween EP. They had fun doing this song in the recording studio, it's not a song that's meant to be taken seriously. I love it, personally lol.

so man personally i love this song but let me explain to you how this song came to be,so this song was created by the rev,and he created this whole song while being drunk enough to not exactly know what happening and i think it was the same with m shadows too,and the rest of the band just playing and fitting the instruments to what the rev and shadows sang

I love avenged sevenfold and really love this song, but for the instrumentation and not the lyrics, lyrics is just too much but the way all the instruments work with each other is just great, just wish the lyrics weren't as vulgar
The lyrics are definitely edgy by design, but as someone that grew up enjoying some corny horror punk like Misfits and early AFI, this just feels like an extension of that with some Danny Elfman mixed in. If they made a whole album of shit like this I'd think it was cringe but as it is it just feels like a goofy little experiment they did on the side that a lot of fans latched on to. It's fun for what it is.

Me as a long time A7X fan honestly kinda feel bored with this song.
I mean it's still one of the best but it's kinda boring to hear this in Every Concert. Plus there are underrated songs that I think would be great if they could brought them in Live Concert.
I saw a chat asking what prompted them to even write this, basically they were all drunk and the person that actually wrote the lyrics died of a drug overdose.... so like, R.I.P Rev, he did make some of their best songs.
If you really think about the lyrics, it's a cool revenge story. He kills her and does what he does, but then she comes back from the grave and kills him and forces him to live with his actions.
i mean in terms of metal music there's definitely more out there lyrics. Take deathmask divine by tbdm for example its more or less about a similar concept but the lyrics are way more detailed and gross.
