    Every year, usually in the winter time when the snow's falling, I return to this video and as I sit here with a silly grin on my face when I hear comments like "gears are irrelevant on this motorcycle" and "this thing could move the planet". My own CB1300 is in the garage, patiently waiting for the end of snow and ice. Thanks for making this and putting it up - it keeps my spirit up through these dark times! ;-)
    I'm from Denmark by the way. Only the red/white version with the fairing is sold here, and it's heavily priced due to our insane 2.5x taxes on gasoline fueled vehicles. Mine was a German import.

    This bike is actually a bit rare - the red and white CB1300SA is available at dealerships in Denmark, you have to go south to Germany to get your hands on the naked black CB1300. You're absolutely right about the ridiculous torque - but the dry weight is more like 249 kg - not 400 ;-) Best bike I've had to far - and extremely reliable too.

    my 2007 CB1300S was my most favourite bike ever. it weighed a tonne and cost thousands to fix went stuff went wrong but it was worth it to me. also not once did i experience even a slight wheelie, it was very user friendly. you need to be fairly big yourself for such a machine

    Exhaust sound is lovely. I like big engines with a mellow tone as opposed to little ones that yell. Looks like a bike I'd enjoy to ride occasionally, but not in the twisties. Too heavy. Nice vid thanks for posting!

    Coming off restrictions soon. I've been riding a CB400, loved it so much I'm seriously considering getting one of these or the Hornet 900. Beautiful bikes if you like the naked style, smooth, reliable and fairly powerful too.

    Since I'm looking Ariderslife's video, I want to own Honda hornet so bad ! first a 600, then the 919, then the 1300 :D
    And your test ride is renforcing this feeling :)

    The RMS states the correct lane position is in the right tyre track...unless buffering a hazard 0.o
    I've found sticking to the far left leaves you vulnerable to SMIDSY's from cagers simply merging into your lane and pushing you into the shoulder.

    Quick question. If you were to drive a CB1300, Daytona 675 and a Kawasaki 636 in a straight line from 20 mph to 100, which one would take you there first?

    Yeah, that's a great bike. Not sure if they're sold here in the un-United States. I've got a Honda Black bird...those aren't common over here either, I had to look hard to find one here, used my whole vacation...but we've got hordes of Harleys!

      +john harris The ones I have seen, and my brother has just bought one, arecalibrated in Kilometers per hour. I was told this bike was never officially available in the UK, sounds like the US were not intended to get this machineeither, otherwise it would be available with a mph speedo.

    I suppose its all a matter of perspective. 300 k to a tank is good for how we ride, my ZX9R couldn't match the CB for fuel efficiency, my VFR800 was similar. Regarding performance, a Sprint should outperform a stock CB, my VFR was quicker when the CB was new (standard). A change to a full Akra, PCIII, K&N and airbox modification will give you a little over 130 rhp and 120nm of torque. This is with 9.6 compression and 8500rpm redline. I think that isnt too bad really for an old mans bike....

    I spy a red framed 2008 1300S for sale at the moment with power commander and oggies. It has a 32 bit processor compared to this bike's 16 bit apparently (not that I know the benefits until I read it up). May be be my next test ride. Thanks Tom

    have to disagree with your comments on 300+ kms on a 21 litre tank as "not inefficient". Honda bikes all have some great traits but fuel efficiency,oddly, has not been one of them up till now. I had a GSX1400 which cruised Sydney to Melbourne at around 20kms per litre. Maybe the 6th gear gives the Suzuki an advantage (2,900 indicated 100kph). This Honda should comfortably make 400kms per tank which is probably what you need in a tourer. Maybe it would in my hands -I don't know.

    I test rode one yesterday, I must say I was disappointed. I expected so much more like an XJR13 or Bandit 12 but a 1300 should be developing 145bhp. I didn't realise it was only developing 100bhp until I rode it. My fully loaded Triumph sprint out drags it and out runs it. I really wanted the CB13 to be better. I even had the paperwork to chop the Triumph in against the Honda :(

  • @robwessling446
    @robwessling446 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank God for LAMS bikes...
    ....Tom, the CB1300S is a heavy bike, the 2008 CB1300S has a dry weight of 232KG. A full Akrapovic will reduce it to 227KG.
    It is sold just about everywhere except the US.
    ....It would kill an R6 off the mark, the CB holeshots wonderfully well.
    Inefficient? Over 300K on 91 octane for a 21 litre tank is not inefficient.
    And for F**k sake stop revving the engine, you need a good spanking for that :)

    My brother has just bought one of these awesome beasts, and when you are sitting onit, you can tell you are sat astride some seriously heavy metal. This is his second X4.He sold his last one around 14 years ago, and really regretted it. So now, after muchsearching, he has found another and intends to keep this one. Incidently, can anyonetell me why these bikes are only calibrated in Kilometers per hour? We are used tobikes in Miles per hour.

    • @dalediese
      @dalediese 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gary Dunn As far as I know they are only sold in native Japan which use km/h. Maybe a few other countries. You will find most of these imports in km/h

    • @garydunn3037
      @garydunn3037 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +dalediese Which cb400 are you talking about? The old twin cylinder model, or the earlier 4 cylinder one?The only connection I can make with comparing the cb400 with the X4 is the fact they both have 4 cylinders.Actually, back in the 70's Honda made a 350 version of that bike aswell, so that could be considered the babybrother of the bunch. It must be a bikers paradise out there in Oz, what with all that hot sunshine. I could livewith kph in that kind of environment. Only thing is I hate bloody spiders, and yours a very big and venomous.

    • @dalediese
      @dalediese 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cb400 super vtec revo I think the full name is.. it is essentially a smaller version of the cb1300 as it only produces 53hp. Mine is a 2015 model. Only released in Japan, Australia and a few other countries in Asia to my knowledge. Only problem with Aus is its too hot for leathers haha.

      +nicola o n That's the way most motorcyclists ride these days, I hear them red lining them thru the gears all the timealong the road nearby. Some don't even bother to ease of the throttle when pulling in the clutch between changinggears. These modern engines must be really tough, considering the abuse they seem to take.
