Thanks, I found this video because I am trying to work out why my API does not work. I have already done exactly what you have done but it's not working, so I suspect there's a lot more to be done - Google could not have made this more complicated if they tried.
please correct my understanding. So, for a testing / small web, after we put billing info in gcloud, we get 300 dollar credit for the first 3 months and 200 dollar for next each month after the 3 month ends? am I right?

Hi Julie, I found this answer on Stack Overflow that should help you: stackoverflow.com/questions/39329874/googlemaps-api-key-for-localhost It looks like its suggested that a separate API key with no restrictions for your local environment, and then create a different one when you move it to production

Hi Sean, You'll probably still need to input billing info to connect, though if its just on a local server its highly highly highly doubtful that you'll ever get charged. I would also suggested deleting your billing info after your project is done, just in case.
Hi This is a great video, but how can I get an api key if I only have a prepaid credit card that the system doesn't accept? because they just want a credit card linked to a bank account, but I don't have a bank account! and therefore I cannot have a credit card linked to a bank account! Can I request that another person create an API key for me? paying her for the service?
3:50 when I click on "start my free trial" the page somehow refreshes and the billing information is erased. Any idea on how to solve this problem? Anyone?
That sounds like it could be a temporary error with the Google server. You should try again in a day or two and see if you are still having the same issues

Sorry you are having so much trouble! Can you try removing all restrictions and seeing if that helps?

If you get charged, and how much you get charged, depends on how much traffic your website (and map) use
