Breed Highlight: All About Cochin Bantam Chickens

- If you love Bantam Chickens, or are looking for a sweet breed to add to, or start your flock, then Cochin Bantams (aka Pekin Chickens) might be the perfect small breed for you!
Learn about physical traits, personality as well as the care & special needs of cochin bantam chickens. How big do they get? What color & size eggs do they produce? Are they friendly? Absolutely would recommend bantam cochins! I used to have a blue mottled bantam cochin rooster that was just the sweetest boy ever. His name was Scotty and he would sit on my shoulder and follow me around. I miss him so much
My Al Capone is a self blue. I adore him! Greatest personality EVER!
I have a black silver laced bantam Cochin and she he is so beautiful and love her or him. Some people say it’s a roo but either way I love him and will keep him 😊

Chick three js the cochin
I let mine eat as much as they want via self feeding and self watering aswell but they were free ranging and I never had any problems like that having said that they laid heaps off eggs which was good
@@corkystephan5073 that's great! I like to let my chickens regulate their own feed as much as possible. They freerange, but I also offer a feed mixture & oyster shells on the side too.

And I always took my birds inside because where I live the place is lousy with foxes yeah
@@corkystephan5073 hawks are our main predators. They generally leave my standards alone, but dive frequently for my bantam flock!

And we got Eastern Brown Snakes this place is infested with them so I got to contend with them aswell so I catch them snakes that is I catch them bag them and relocate them ironically they are protected so they always get released
@@corkystephan5073 yah, we have several varieties of nope rope here too. We found a small rat snake curled up, pretty as you please under a hen once! She was sitting on it while it devoured her eggs, one by one. It wasn't big enough to get the birds, but geesh! Rattler & cottonmouth are our few harmful ones, but we see em frequently enough. They're not protected here, or endangered, sooooo, yah. I deal with them as the situation warrants.
Chick two is a houdan or polish maybe?
Feathered legs & crest & number of toes indicates sultan which is what he grew in to. But good guess. Both those have crests too.

Yes. Chick 1 is a silkie. Black skin, 5 toes soft downy feathers as it feathered out. Not a great quality one, but a sweetheart none the less.
