I’ve always loved how their whole body of work is ridiculously intertextual and self-referential. So self-aware, and so intricate. The world of The 1975 is like a collection of films by an auteur director, or an iconic book series, or a very detailed video game franchise. Brilliant.
I love the self references to the video of Somebody Else. I wonder if there is some self reference to his break up with FKA Twigs. And as always, happy music but the lyrics are the opposite ' I am never going to love again '. it's the 1975 are their core but with different sound yet again. Love them
I love their 80s ultra pop vibes the best I think. Main reason I'm obsessed with them is that every song sounds like a different genre and era. They just know how to make a track sound amazing in a variety of ways. Thats talent right there.
i've always heard them but i dont even know why do they like to me. I think you're right. Those 80's vibes are great but at the same time sounds like a fresh sound!!
nothing makes me happier than their music omg. It’s so distinguishable - I’d know the boys just from an instrument / echo - as soon as it plays im just filled with such a nice feeling. They just fill me with so much happiness aw man
This is everything we need right now, upbeat, fun dance pop infused with 80’s synth and saxophone. Feels fresh but a loving homage to their past eras. Can’t wait for the album and tour 😍🤍
If you want more of this check out DJ Sabrina the Teenage Sabrina as she was a producer on this track. Charmed and Makin’ Magic Album II are great places to start.
Absolutely. As someone that lives near Kasnas City, MO, I was over the moon to see they would be playing in Independence, MO in December. I will absolutely be going. I have never seen them live but they are one of the few live acts that I'm addicted to watching and listening to their big concerts throughout the years. I haven't been to any big concert since 2013 I believe. So I am really pumped to see them get to perform a lot of material from the new album and NOACF, since they didn't get to complete their tour for that album due to the pandemic. I have a feeling it will be an epic and euphoric experience much like this new single which is just my favorite kind of the 1975. They are one of the few things of any kind that give me a huge natural endorphin boost. I listen to The 1975 and my depression and anxiety seems to evaporate for some time. They have really meant a lot to me over the last four years. I've really been going through some things and they are such a wonderful depression suppressant. Can't even explain why. I liked them as early back as the self titled debut LP. But I really coming back to them a little while after I like it when you sleep came out. That album has really become an important part of my life since then. It's easily my favorite alternative/pop album of all the 2010s. Then remembering the whole role out for Brief Inquiry and that album truly didn't disappoint when it came out, even though it was a major departure from the first two full length studio albums. Still love Notes too, and I think if it weren't for the pandemic that album would've really grown in public opinion and appreciation. It was so bold and unafraid to be what they wanted it to be. I'm hoping Being Funny in a Foreign Language will be a product of quality over quantity. I can't wait for it. It comes out four days after my birthday, and it could really be exactly the album that I (we all) really need right now in this moment of time. Much love to The 1975. Truly special modern band who are so singular, yet create a nostalgic sensation without pandering and being generic genre rip offs. I hope they continue on forever as long as they are feeling inspired by the music and the creative process. We need to appreciate this moment because we are witnessing something special and I hope even more people start paying attention, especially over here in the States. They are truly special and are also great at finding other outside talent.
10 months later and I’m literally bewildered how this isn’t their biggest hit of all time. I just can’t understand how this masterpiece of an album overall gets so slept on. The diversity and depth they showed easily cements it as their Magnum Opus to me. Truly one of the best albums of the decade..
The whole album got carried by About you, but i concur with you, this is one of my Favorite Track from this Album, and it’s Baffling that this song sounds like a Hit, but it didn’t.
The visuals, the sound, Ross’ glorious beard, Adam singing his heart out, JOHN ON THE SAX, Matty doing his little feet dance thingy. The 1975 is back, baby! 🔥🔥🔥
Classic The 1975. Imo, this might be the successor of Settle Down and She’s American in the setlist. Can’t wait to experience this live and hear Matty telling the crowd that everybody just has to dance.🕺🏽

how can a band like the 1975 put out banger after banger after banger? I didn’t think I could be more of a fan over all these years, but my love for them continues to grow. thank you, boys. you are all so wonderful.

I would disagree that their "aesthetic" is 50s, rather 80s Bowie or even 90s type indie, while also very much todays fashion. But then again, music created trends.

I love this song already. It's got a mix of their older songs like girls, too shy let me know and it's not living if it's not with you. I love the band and the colour of video❤️❤️😊
Not just saying this because im a huge fan but Matty is seriously one of the best frontmen of this generation. Always classy videos which just compliment the band in such a fresh original way. Cant wait for the full release of this album, I like the direction its going in so far... Love.
Being Funny In A Foreign Language will probably be their most mature album. They change, and like us, they discover life in a different way every day. Happiness is a wonderful song just like Part of the Band and I wonder what other sounds we'll hear on the rest of the album.
If I remember correctly, Matty said it's going to be unapologetically vulnerable, embracing the whole "sincerity is scary" thing. Can't wait for the other tracks! 💙
This is perfection. I had a smile on my face from the second the music started. I am so thankful for this band. I haven’t felt this strongly about a song upon the first listen in ages. It was truly immediate happiness.
Perfectly put. I was worried having Jack Antonoff on the album would jeopardize this since he usually overproduces the shit out of things, but this album is simply fabulous.
This was the cherry on top of my day. I found out recently I’m gonna be a father and this honestly has me feeling so warm and excited about it and everything else in life. Thanks boys.
Dude my wife and I are few hrs away from being 1st time parents. I told her I’m going to be playing this song for our daughter in the future too. Congrats btw, it’s an amazing journey/feeling!
At 68years young I’ve heard a lot of music since the 60s 😁 this track has me dancing around my home in a very happy state . ❤ I can’t thank the 1975 enough. The whole album is in fact magical, and is played most days to give me a lift . Keep doing what you’re doing , blooming brilliant. 😇
Forever my favourite band. I’m so grateful to have found chocolate all those years ago. I never would have thought that this band would shape and develop in ways that perfectly matched my own growth. They’ve helped me through so many times throughout my young adulthood and I’m glad to still have them here
The combination of production of Matthew and Jack Antonoff really brings something unique and just not solely Jack's sounds with Matthew's voice. The band is really means somethin sonically. Can't wait for the album!!!
This band are the greatest thing to happen to us all, the community feeling within the fanbase it the most sincere thing I’ve ever experienced. Love you 🤍
Definitely agree, when I saw them in 2020 it was first time seeing them. I remember talking to a volunteer in the venue foyer and telling her it was my first time seeing them and she was genuinely so happy for me and got me all hyped up for them coming on. The two women behind us were amazing as well, really good fun and respectful of the other gig goers. There was such a beautiful feeling of community and belonging
Feel the same. Everyone has such enthusiasm and dedication to them. I love when they tour because it's like spending time with an extended family. I'm in NY and can't wait until the album drops on 14 October. ❤️
it's so beautiful to see the family you guys have created for us all across the world, it makes me so happy and excited to see everyone in every language just so fucking happy to see you make art. we love you all and thank you
This whole music video and song are both just great. I've always known the 1975 to be a bit nostalgic for the past, curious about the present, and a little dreadful about the future in their art. This definitely feels very nostalgic, but there's a sense of realism that feels new. Barely anything is filtered like it has been with their previous albums, or rather it is filtered in this old school glamor (see the set design) but you can see and sense the pain (one prominent point is where the couple is fighting while Matty's on a spinning stage), making everything feel a bit more grounded. I actually really love it, you can see the duality between their filtered fun and the pain they see.
Matt is so good at making me happy honestly this song just makes u so happy he does everything nice even other songs be feeling like happiness too “ sound of your heart “ is so good has a nice melody and vibe to everything song be like this tbh he’s a dreamy nostalgic person Frl
I don’t expect the whole album to sound like this but it’s nice to know The 1975 is still making groove based pop, which is honestly what they do best. I love this track and it brings me hope that this new album could be solid
@@josteau9849 you don’t know what I know, if you really wanna get into a fight about the 1975 then let’s do it, don’t be such a downer and have hype for this album
@@therealpenns7313 I'm trying to see where @josteau downed anything and not finding it. He said groove based pop is what they do best (implying they do many other things well). He said he didn't expect the whole album to sound like this song which is fair, especially if you've heard several of their last albums. I think every album is incredible sounding but also extremely eclectic in sound. Pop, soul, funk, r&B, country, house, techno...its possible to hear any combination of genres on a 1975 album. Sounds like he made a fair observation. Where's the downer?
I love this song and the video. Reminds me of something that would be playing in a rom com 80s film with the saxophone added in. This might be my favorite song of theirs.
I'm your biggest fan from Russia and since the beginning of this outrageous war I was unable to listen to any new music because it was all blocked from us. No streaming services, no new music videos, nothing. So many young people feel helpless and deeply depressed and this inability to listen to music only adds up to it. Thank you for not cutting us off. For me personally this music is a distant breath of fresh air.
@@matthewlyons6569 ye we do use it, but they are being blocked by the government and it doesn’t always work with TH-cam. I’m talking about the idea itself, I so don’t want to be perceived as part of it. I hate the whole idea of excluding this country from what could’ve turned things around for the better.
It might take some time, it might be slow but eventually the world will see that being closed off to all Russian people because of what their government is doing is not the solution.
Solid rhythm. Glad to hear they’re not completely moving on from their trademark 80’s-isque sound. The title doesn’t appear in the lyrics, but it sure does evoke Happiness! 😄 Can’t wait to hear the rest of the album
I was having a bad day, but now my bloody heart is full. I love these guys so much, thank you so much for the amazing music (like always), and for making my day.

A lot of nostalgic feelings. Matt loves doing this. Singing Karaoke with glasses like in Somebody Else, dancing like in live shows, horse therapy, Michael Jackson moves, top models, and talking to the production at the end like in the Girls music video. And enjoy this if I'm right Matt! 🤌🏻💜
The sad part is I’m 43 years old and I’ve loved the 1975 since “Chocolate”! This may be my favorite album. As corny as it sounds it kinda been like watching them grow up. This album is the best yet. Thank you for making music that makes an old man dance in the kitchen!
I‘ve been listening this song for 2 days straight. It really brings happiness to me. I love the melody and lyrics of the song. I’ve been under big pressure for a long time. This song saves me. Thank you, the 1975. I’ll buy the album hahaha.
this shit is absolute fire, i really enjoy it because i think it combines everything i like from the 1975 plus their new approach, i feel this is my new fav, can't wait for the album tbh. you rock guys!
An absolute banger , The 1975 are in their best whenever they go for this fun catchy sound . The Instrumental parts are absolute bless reminds a lot of " The Sound " .
This is definitely one of if not my favorite music videos by them. It fits the song perfectly. And the horse. The horse alone needs an oscar for his performance
Title is so fitting because the entire song is the happiest family function of sounds I've ever heard. The first 30 seconds hit me with total joy, like I'm about to jump out of a plane to skydive, and I feel like I'm freefalling through the rest of it. Zero friction because the whole track just flows with such a fun groove. I want to dance to this at a warm house party on Christmas so bad.
I have to confess that I hear this song at least twice every morning before going to work to get the right energy and positivity hehe. It´s addictive !
I absolutely love this song, especially the details in the music video! The rooms, curtains, the horse, the suits and blazers, the lighting, the silver confetti, the way they play the guitar wearing sunglasses, EVERYTHING!!!
I went to see the 1975 as a teenager years ago as my first concert experience and I have no regrets - while I certainly didn't get the complexity of their lyrics the way I do now, they make the kind of music that sticks with you.. it feels like a once-in-a-lifetime thing to see them evolve and continue to make such poignant stuff every time and i'm so excited to see what they do next
This song gives me vibe from A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships and Notes On a Conditional Form, im not gonna lie, it is. A strong pure of nostalgia.
This has been on repeat since the release! It sounds so familiar yet different. Definitely has the "1975 vibe" from the song to the music video. Obsessed with this one!
Almost didn't get the glasses on in time...lol..another great tune from the band that keeps mixing it up...Giving us all great memories. Keep it up LADS!
I will consider this song as my song, since my name’s translation from my native language is happiness…. So whatever vibe this song will be I will consider it as mine💙 I am so happy that Matty and boys are back!!! This is the best time to be alive and witness roll out of new album with everyone!
The 1975 have been through the death of my brother with me, a drug addiction, my recovery, the good and bad times. Matty’s lyrics are genius in every sense and the band are amazing musicians I listen to them every day of my life. And just wanted to say Thankyou for making me cry, laugh, dance around my front room without a care in the world you will always hold a huge place in my heart. To write a song with matty would be my dream come true and if anyones interested in listening to my stuff our latest release is called Courthouse 999 Nuff love 1975 please never stop making music ❤️
When my sister died a couple of years ago, the line in Nana that says, "But I'm bereft you see I think you can tell I haven't been doing too well" BROKE ME. these guys are the best for people like you and I. wishing you well.
Please don't use this video for self promotion. Even if it is true about your brother, don't use his death as a marketing tool for yourself. Not a good look.
I absolutely love the 1975 they have a sound I haven't heard in 35 years and its wonderful. They have had a long career already and are incredibly famous in Britian Like Beatles famous, but they dont quite cut through all the noise of America to be as big here as they should be...
"In my soul I got this feeling I didn't know until I seen ya" wow. Idk why but those lyrics hit so hard. Literally the feeling you get when you're TOO in love w someone. This song is honestly a masterpiece.
Welcome! It'll be one of the best decisions you've made☺️❤️ Been a supporter since 2013 and finally going to see them in concert ( also my 1st concert!)
@@erinek1449 my most favorite is chocolate, what a fun and playful lyrics, i relate to that so much, other favorites are girls, tonight, happiness, in that order but other songs are amazing as well.
Oh gosh..This band is absolutely amazing deserve to be the world best band..no way..The songs beat and the incredible background music that's so so nice and this is my typical type of music it's been bumps in speakers. Good to watch and listen of all time 🎉🥳👏

My favourite bit of the lyrics.

Her body's like a modern art
Take it out in front of me

It’s She’s American but written in their 30s

They are truly special and are also great at finding other outside talent.
would it even be the 1975 WITHOUT the synths ?!? lololol
10 months later and I’m literally bewildered how this isn’t their biggest hit of all time. I just can’t understand how this masterpiece of an album overall gets so slept on. The diversity and depth they showed easily cements it as their Magnum Opus to me. Truly one of the best albums of the decade..
I feel the same way. For me, this is my favorite song of all time by any band ever. This one will age the best imo, with Oh Caroline by its side.
The whole album got carried by About you, but i concur with you, this is one of my Favorite Track from this Album, and it’s Baffling that this song sounds like a Hit, but it didn’t.
diversity and depth? it’s easily their least diverse and least deep album
This album has sent them into a new realm of fame?? This is their biggest album, it’s not slept on!
They play it like everyday at my job lol
Instant bop. I’m already loving this new era of The 1975!
The visuals, the sound, Ross’ glorious beard, Adam singing his heart out, JOHN ON THE SAX, Matty doing his little feet dance thingy. The 1975 is back, baby! 🔥🔥🔥
Ugh, I love the feet dance!!

A band Formed in the 00s, rose to fame in the 10s, called the 1975, exploring a 50s/60s Aesthetic sounding like the 80s. Marvellous.
This comment is criminally under appreciated.
@@dimilton3166 why
I would disagree that their "aesthetic" is 50s, rather 80s Bowie or even 90s type indie, while also very much todays fashion. But then again, music created trends.

And the drunk man

@@therealpenns7313 I'm trying to see where @josteau downed anything and not finding it. He said groove based pop is what they do best (implying they do many other things well). He said he didn't expect the whole album to sound like this song which is fair, especially if you've heard several of their last albums. I think every album is incredible sounding but also extremely eclectic in sound. Pop, soul, funk, r&B, country, house, techno...its possible to hear any combination of genres on a 1975 album.
Sounds like he made a fair observation. Where's the downer?

This is definitely one of if not my favorite music videos by them. It fits the song perfectly. And the horse. The horse alone needs an oscar for his performance
A nod to Matty's equine therapy perhaps?
Title is so fitting because the entire song is the happiest family function of sounds I've ever heard. The first 30 seconds hit me with total joy, like I'm about to jump out of a plane to skydive, and I feel like I'm freefalling through the rest of it. Zero friction because the whole track just flows with such a fun groove. I want to dance to this at a warm house party on Christmas so bad.

Nuff love 1975 please never stop making music ❤️
When my sister died a couple of years ago, the line in Nana that says, "But I'm bereft you see
I think you can tell
I haven't been doing too well" BROKE ME. these guys are the best for people like you and I. wishing you well.
Please don't use this video for self promotion. Even if it is true about your brother, don't use his death as a marketing tool for yourself. Not a good look.
@@mattiemclean9882 to be honest, it’s none of your business. This is a free platform, if they want to they can.
@@I.is.tylerr I didn't say they can't did I? Dummy? I just said it's not a good look.
@@mattiemclean9882 like I said before, if they want to they can, they don’t need your irrelevant comments. “Dummy”
Getting to hear this song live was absolutely amazing. Wish I could relive that forever
I absolutely love the 1975 they have a sound I haven't heard in 35 years and its wonderful. They have had a long career already and are incredibly famous in Britian Like Beatles famous, but they dont quite cut through all the noise of America to be as big here as they should be...
just want to have a good cry every time this plays.. it's like a stress reliever
"In my soul I got this feeling I didn't know until I seen ya" wow. Idk why but those lyrics hit so hard. Literally the feeling you get when you're TOO in love w someone. This song is honestly a masterpiece.
This song NEVER fails to put me in a good mood
I defy anyone not to want to dance when hearing it 😝
It just puts you in a good mood it brings you happiness

I’m predicting this era will be their best
I just discovered this band and I am going through their catalog, fucken lovin' it!
Welcome! It'll be one of the best decisions you've made☺️❤️ Been a supporter since 2013 and finally going to see them in concert ( also my 1st concert!)
