The Terlingua Chili Cook Off is a big deal. People always rave about my chili, and when they ask me for the recipe, I tell them "I bought a book of chili championship winning recipes and I just use the ones from Terlingua"
The "Beans in Chili" argument has 1 very simple solution and anyone that doesn't abide by it is an idiot. If the Chili is to be eaten by itself, alone, as the main dish - it should have beans. If the Chili is a topping, maybe for but not limited to hot dogs, then it must have no beans. It's literally as easy as that and anyone purporting anything else is an idiot.
I didn't know about this cook-off until this year. I thought it was still C.A.S.I.. it's wild.....I've been here two years and don't recognize a single person in that entire video. Lol
I went just by chance the year hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. My friend and I driving down from Kansas headed to New Orleans and our first night spent on the road was Austin. I used to live near New Braunsfels. We got up the next morning and saw the hurricane headed towards New Orleans so PLAN B came into being. We knew the cook off was going on so we headed west. Best decision we ever made. Next thing I know I’m sitting on the stage next to the drum set watching Gary P. Nunn. He was buzzed enough he just left the microphone and took over on drums! It was a blast.
Been living in TX since Jan 2022 (born and raised in NC), and this channel has been a blessing.
Welcome! Where y’at?
Bucket list! Still trying to check that one off!! Your video just created that itch again!!

Been going to Terlingua for many years but never been to this. Just don't put beans in Texas chili & there won't be a problem. 🌶
My elderly neighbor is a judge and has been making this trek for years. I need to try it myself, sometime.
Mandatory comment: beans don’t belong in chili. Sincerely, true Texans

True chili does not have beans or tomatoes.
@@mare8371 ICS (Terlingua) allows for tomato sauce or paste to be used.
I like Texas bucket list videos on TH-cam from the imperial co California 👍👍
Why don't you move to texas?
@@charleschampion4682 It’s easier for people like him to piss and moan and complain about their situations than to actually change them.
@@charleschampion4682 Why? So he can fuck Texas up with his commiefornia bullshit?
@@iamnoone940 I always suggest that Californians to stay and take back their state...

that guy Steve looks and talks like a hollywood actor whatever he is doing he should be in films and movies
Terlingua....a really rough spot...where trailers and motorhomes go to die.
Beans don’t belong in chili should be posted on billboards as you enter the state of Texas.
Good thing I am not a judge. I don't eat chili out of a Styro Foam cup.
Good thing you aren’t a judge. Queers don’t make good ones.
The idea is to minimize cost so that the ALS charity gets the maximum contribution.
The cups keep the chili hot.
What would you have them use, genius?
