I watched the Eurovision live from a Gay Bar in Tel Aviv 🙂 It was a lot of fun

Norway got last because the tele audience and the juries rather want generic «heard it a thousand times before» music. And they don’t like to hear music outside their cup of tea.
Norway should go back to that instead of good music.

That is a pity that songs like Norway or Slovenia rank so low, cause they do not fit to the average taste… for me they have much more artistic merit, than many others ranked higher. But so are the average musical tastes unfortunately 😔

Next year we should make some "gaymusic" in english suitable for "Gayvision"....but fuck that....I prefer last place showing culture of Norway 😊 Well done, Gåte, Norway are proud of you. That what's matters 😊

I am sure they have found some fans anyway, it was just not a majority. And they have showcased Norwegian culture, what could be better? This kind of entries are exactly why we all watch Eurovision :) to see the musical traditions of European countries presented in a modern wrapping 👌

I am glad that Raiven got to a Eurovision Final. I am glad that Norway sang in Norwegian and hope they won't be scared off from trying again. I am glad that Germany and Luxembourg did well and I am happy to see Luxembourg back in the fold. I am happy that Ireland, Georgia and Latvia all seem to have shaken a monkey off their backs. I have no objections to the winner and the Top 10. I do wonder what Malta needs to do to do well again and yes, San Marino needs to #SendSerhat or #VolunteerValentina and get her the record outright because NeoDisco is just the microstate's thing, it's what they do best, like Moldova and Eastern European eccentricity and 3 years in the San Marinese rock experiment has clearly failed.
Saying that I am British and I am THRILLED that 'Dizzy' bombed.
I didn't think Olly was a good choice when he was announced in December and I hate to say "I told you so." In what was going to be a contentious year, it's probably a good idea to pick someone with a good deal of tact and maturity who can handle the complexities with grace - which is NOT him. It would also be nice to be represented by someone who doesn't mouth off about how "problematic" he thinks his own/our national flag is and then proceeds to be a complete hypocrite and wear it like a cape as if he's proud suddenly. Pick a lane Olly and please stick with it. I am old school, I just want to judge the entries by their respective merits, I am capable of distancing what I think about the entry from what I think about the act, I am an adult, but he makes it difficult to do that if he is claiming to represent you.
The other problem for me is that Olly is trash as a live singer by ESC standards, he just wasn't going to cut it on a night when you have so many top-rate singers. That was my initial gut instinct when I learned that the BBC wanted him to go. "Oh dear, another Mae Muller situation." I hate to be right.
Leaving my doubts about the artist selection to the side - I found the lyrics a bit basic to be honest, the song as a whole was just a bit too generic and could be from anywhere, which is kind of the opposite of what is doing really well nowadays - you know a French song, an Italian song, a Ukrainian song, a Portuguese song when you hear them, 'Dizzy' could be from anywhere and says nothing about either Olly as an artist or the musical culture he claims to represent, so to me I find it really hard to justify the Jury score on any level. At least Lucie Jones went to Kyiv 2017 with a song in a genre the British tend to specialise in and had a lot to do with developing - musical theatre and sang the crap out of the song, Olly doesn't have that. That is why Sam did so well in Turin after-all, he sings brilliantly well, he has natural charisma and 'Space Man' sounds 1970s British, the staging was an added x-factor that generated a national record point total and 2nd place. I presume the Juries responded to the commercial nature of this song and the fact the staging was conceptually clever with the camera angles and all the hanging off the box.
My real problem it is that the BBC doesn't understand the Contest AT ALL. They have no clue how to appeal to anyone but themselves clearly. What was that? Seriously, a five-way in a grotty public toilet? Apparently I'm not the only person to think that it was poorly conceived and didn't really have boundaries and everyone at the BBC just thought this was so great. They had a good concept that could have worked and threw it away on Olly's vanity. They might have gotten away with it had they had a mixed gender team of dancers to reduce the overtly sexual implications of some parts, lets say leaning into the tango-at-an-angle concept from Alma's music video in 2017 and the digital 'skin' of the interior of the box looked more appealing, like say a club space or a changing backdrop showing a couple of locales people might actually like to be and spend time in. Apparently that was the 3rd or 4th version of the dancing to try to tone down from what Olly promised would be the "gayest" entry ever. Worked out really well didn't it? I don't have ANY problems with a very camp entry, I have no problems with a challenging entry (I voted for '1944' back in the day) - I often rather like them, but there was a line of good taste and they crossed it. Try sending something that actually looks pleasant to look at next time BBC and maybe the Televote will give you a couple of points.
Mind-boggling that they did such a good job of hosting for someone else last year and yet get their entries so totally wrong so often. Perhaps there was a group of Ukrainians whispering in Andrew Cartmel's ear saying "too much, less is more" a lot last year and he actually listened or maybe Sam was just a fluke. I think a bit of both.
At this point, if we have to keep sending entries, can we just accept we belong in the Bottom 5 and be done with it? Just send SuRie again with one of her own songs, let her do what she likes for her staging and lets not pretend that we will trouble the Top 15 again.

Yeah, this year’s top-10 is very much justified, no huge surprises. Seems like we share the same opinion about Norway, Germany and Slovenia this year 👌
About Malta you are so right. But I think this year they would have qualified being the only bop of the semi-final and especially being somewhere in the second half. You saw, Georgia and Austria also did not do so well, so there were no points left for Sarah.
With regards to the UK, yes, BBC really shows they do not understand the contest well. First of all you need a singer who is great live (like Sam Ryder), the song should be also not just a bunch of lyrical cliches if it is representing a country where English is obviously not just a foreign language. But the delegation seems to prioritize the stage show and radio-friendliness of the song over the first two crucial points. Let’s see what they bring next year, I am very curious!

@@JustESCAnalyst To me, at least, it's about their blatant disrespect and misbehavior, not their political views. You can think whatever you want, and still be respectful towards people around you or objective towards songs/shows. I tried to enjoy all the acts, but 2024 eurovision definitely left a sour taste for many reasons :(

With only 13 countries reaching the 100 point threshold that is the lowest ever , I think previously it was 15 or 16 in 2017 . 2024 was soooo top heavy and I remember saying to myself that 2024 was going to be like 2011 in terms of voting but I was very off

    • @JustESCAnalyst
      @JustESCAnalyst  18 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

Yeah, right, 7 countries just took probably 70-80% of all points. Mostly due to the fact, that 3 televoting favorites had over 300 points 😳

On one hand, im a lil disappointed at the juries that completely 'drowned' Eden in the ranking... then on the other hand, I look at the Israeli Televote and jury-vote distribution and I know I can't be mad at them lol

Israel should have won the Eurovision this year. It was the best performance and the most meaningful song and video. It was sad for me to see that the crowd of barbaric jewhaters booed her during the performance. She is talented hard working and amazing singer and performer. She and all the dancers and participants of the israeli delegation. They worked hard. They delivered. They rocked. They should have won.
