First time I've seen Yokohama in someone's Top 5 even. it's really, really good. And not at all so busy and chaotic than it seems first glanze. Great game!
Well Chris, Yokohama is the surprise for me on your list. I expected it to be Orleans, I have yokohama but it's STILL in my queue (moving sucks, started college, and work full time, bah), mansions of madness, and orleans are in my top 10 your top 10 is pretty great man. Steve's list will just be a top 50 based on how much he payed to play. So the first 48 will be tied.
Agree on all the Euro' games,they are the best looking even if theme sometimes lacking. Big up to whoever did photos of the games in play mode....makes a big difference. Had forgotten about Eclipse so gonna' get that one.

Base Orleans is very good. With the Trade board and most of the expansion it is one of the very best games I own. It's in my top 10 now. But Trade & Intrigue now... it will make Orleans less scripted, more reactive and even more interesting in nearly every way. AGoT is good, but it still pales in comparison to Dune. I wish that weren't the case but it is.
That's cool, I wasn't sure how much crossover I'd have with Chris since I tend towards more direct conflict and thematic games than heavy Euros. Orleans and Yokohama are two of my favorites though. Gaia Project/Terra Mystica is also way up there. I still think Chris needs to play Terra Mystica again though. It bothers me every time he says that Gaia Project "fixes everything wrong with TM". They're 90% the same, I don't see how someone could view TM as being a failed "concept," while having Gaia Project as a top 5 game. My guess is that he hadn't played TM for years and had a bad memory of it, and Gaia Project clicked better years later. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's just that alien brain of firing things out of favor. I still slightly prefer TM myself. I like the claustrophobic board and playing off of each other, butting heads for territory and on the cult tracks.
Terraforming Mars, it's really a shame how much the Graphic Design kills it for me. Every time I think about wanting to play it, then see it and how it looks like a prototype done by a college student and I just lose interest.
Some children want the rainbow ice cream. They are stimulated by how it looks. You can try to convince them that there are dull looking ice creams that actually taste better and have a more complex and potentially more satisfying palate, but they won't listen. They are inevitably visually tantilized by the extra colourful and submit to eating a less appealing flavour.
@@benlauson555 And sometimes, there are flavours that are as appealing AND look good, shockingly :D Hopefully a second edition will give it a new lick of paint, I like the game alright and the dull looks didn't chase me away, but in this day and age there is really no excuse for terrible graphic design and uninspired art when you have the funds.
Man, I would’ve never guessed Yokohama. I feel like I never hear Chris talking about that game. Would’ve guessed Gaia Project as the #1. And also, Anyone else notice Cris said Eclipse is his fav space game, by Gaia is higher. Lol whatever, still love ya Chris! Blast to watch all week!
Great list and sadly I didnt play neither Orleans neither Yokohama yet. Have to work on that but it is pretty tough to get to these older games with influx of new games all the time. But I will do it this year if I would have a chance.
I'm a gamer who started gaming in the 70's . quite frankly I dont see the quality of games from then in games now a days. I dont know what it is but the difficulty or rules or something is just not complete. They seem to make games simple stupid now .
Game of Thrones plays great with smaller player counts, IF you have the first edition with the Storm Of Swords expansion, which includes a smaller map for 2 to 4 players.
Worker placement is my favorite mechanic and I was really excited for Anachrony based on all the reviews but I felt like there was more going on than is necessary. I've only played it once but it was such a downer I haven't been driven to get it back out on the table. It's a shame.

I have been playing Orleans lately and I can't agree more, and with the trade and intrigue expansion, top 10 material for me too. Good choice Chris!

I like Anachrony but it bugged me that we use the time travel to get resources just for the points. We did not need them. It felt a bit unthematic.

you should really give it another try. It gets better and better with each play for me.
