    I'm not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but the straw, left over from harvesting a crop, is used as animal bedding. Hay, which is animal feed, is made from grass that is dried in the sun and then baled. And you having the mower one the wrong way around cracked me up haha. The city boy. Love the vids man, you are my go-to gamer, keep it up :)

    Hey Trev. Good vid, got a little advice. I’ve been playing Fs for a while now. And I wanted to assist you in your quest to help your animals. So my main advice would be to use a mower and take some grass and use a Tedder to spread it out. After that, you take a windrower and combine it together, and then collect it with either a baler, or the trailer that can pick up that hay. Oh and btw, when you leave the grass out in the sun it drys and turns into hay. Making it easier to get. The you may dumb it and use a bucket to pick it up and turn it into a TMR mixer. Anyway if you have any questions let me know. I’ll help you out. Anyway Keep it up love seeing this content. ❤

    In time, explore the map further. There should be several places you can back the water tanker down into a river or pond and fill for free. Your farm tank charges you $$$ by the gallon. And on previous versions of FS, the round hay bales used to roll toooo well, and you'd have to go fish them out of streams and ditches. 🤣 This is much better.
    The mower can go on the front or the back of any tractor that has a PTO on the front like yours. Some mower kits have a front AND back mower to give 3 rows of cuttings. There is also a single side mower and you drive off to a side and reach in. There is a lot for you to explore here, and contracts are a great way to try new equipment.
    Good show!

    Before I got in to farming simulator and started watching real farming TH-cam channels, I finally realized hay and straw are not the same thing at all. Hay is really dry grass. Straw is the leftover after you harvest wheat, barley, and oat, and other things outside of farming simulator. Straw is the yellow or dark yellow stuff. Hay is light green stuff because it’s dry grass. If a bale looks dark green then it’s a grass bale. If you wrap the dark green grass before it dries, then it’s still “wet” and then it will ferment into silage. Cows in the game and IRL love silage. So your TMR is a mixture of silage, hay, straw, and mineral feed. Aka a mixture of fermented wet grass, dry grass, straw, and mineral feed. Or, you can make silage from corn as well before it turns yellow in the field. When corn is still really green in June or July, you can cut it and chop it up into little pieces and let that ferment and it will turn into silage as well. You either have to unload it into a concrete silage bin, run it over with your tractor a bunch of times and cover it with plastic, or put it into a tall silo and let it sit for a while and ferment that way.

    Absolutely love this series! I'm a avid FS fan myself. FYI Hay comes from mowed and teddered grass, Straw is only used for making manure from the cows. But you can sell the straw anyway. Also, you can get free water from under the bridge just to the southwest of your farm. There is a small road before the bridge where you can get close enough to fill the tanker up.
    Oh, and a third thing! You can customize your trailer to a Bale trailer and back to grain trailer for free. You just need to visit the Vehicle Workshop which is located next to the Vehicle Shop!

    When using the GPS guidance, go up and down every other lane can make turning easier. Backing up to line up again can reduce efficiency (if you care). Using this technique for larger implements will make it even easier as well. Maybe even go every third lane, which ever fits the tractor/implement turning radius the best. That's where doing the headland first pays off, possibly an extra lap. You'll find out what combo fits your gameplay style. Regardless, love the series.

    Trevor, you can "lease" equipment from the store, this is a cheaper option if you just need a piece of equipment temporarily or wish to try it out before you purchase one. Also, the manure heap silo extension will not work with the pasture. Only a barn and only if you give them straw for bedding (in a barn). Only certain cows produce milk. Angus does not. You cannot butcher the cows as this makes the game have an age rating on it so Giants software will never do that. You just sell the cows for money. Fulling that tank with money costs money from a tap. You can fill it at any body of water for free, just get the back end of the trailer into the water. Also, some tractors all of you to have a front loader attachment such as forks or bucket, etc. Also, i would do 2 day months. Meaning two days will pass before the month changes. This gives you more time to do things ob the farm as well as more and different contracts. I play theee day months but sometimes need to just sleep the third day away. So two would be good for you. Also, note that my comment about leasing was put in 30 seconds before the leasing of the skid steer but just left it in as the rest of this comment is noteworthy.

    May have already been stated but for reference, hay is different than straw. Straw is the bi product of wheat when harvested. Hay is made from cut grass which is dried, tedded (flipped), raked into larger rows and then baled. Hay is what you would feed the cows and you can plant grass seed in order to grow hay grass.

    You are baling straw. The only way to get hay for your comes is to cut the grass around your fields, then tend it with a tender, then get a rake to put it in rows and then bale it. Then you will have hay bales. You get straw from wheat, barly and oats. Straw it for bedding in the barns and us in the tmr feed to make it.

    The stuff thats left on the field after harvesting wheat/barley/oats is straw thats used for bedding for the cows which then will make manure. To make hay you have to mow grass and use a tedder machine then bale it to make hay bales

  • @dansiegel995
    @dansiegel995 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Lol, I didn't know the difference between hay and straw before FS as well. Straw, is the chaff or garbage from combining grains like wheat, oats, barley. Hay is dried grass. TMR is a complex because IRL, every single farmer does it differently. Giants has simplified it, mixing straw (a filler), hay, and silage. Silage is grass or corn chaff, which has been fermented for a few months. Silage is the hardest component on TMR to prepare (well, time and expense). Maybe just stick with hay, until you have a lot more money.

    Hey man, so it was probably already mentioned but "Hay" is grass that is mowed, dried out and collected into bales. "Straw" is the what's left over after crops, like wheat. Hay is for animal feed (cow and sheep) and straw is only used for bedding. Keep it up though!!! I like the series.

  • @paulrogers4483
    @paulrogers4483 วันที่ผ่านมา

    *Plant grass in field 2*
    It's very bumpy because your running over and destroying the cut grass!!!! LOL The mower is supposed to be on the back and the weight on the front. As far as the cows go you should have sold them right away because you're not in the position to take care of them yet. I would suggest planting grass in field 2 and making hay and work up to geting a forage mixer to make TMR. To make hay you'll need a grass dryer or a tedder to turn the grass into hay then a baler or a forage wagon to pick the hay up. You'll also have to get a fermenter, silage bunker, or a baler that wraps bales to make silage. Animals is probably the most expensive endeavors in the game besides buying a harvester. As far as moving the bales Most small tractors and some medium tractors can have a front loader attached for that. You can get all sorts of attachments for it to do all sorts of jobs or you can get a skid steer or a telehandler which is much more expensive.
    I've been paying Farmsim since FS 15 if you need any help I'd be glad to offer my knowledge. I wish I had known about the live stream, I would of been there to help.

    I think you would absolutely love making silage hay bales. That is insanely good money! Check out some videos on how to do it. That is my favorite thing to do in farming simulator!

    How about a road construction simulator? Tearing down highways, hauling away pavement, leveling the grade, pouring concrete, building medians, putting out cones, making overpasses, dealing with weather…all to scale. Painting lines, installing lights, directing traffic, detours, etc

    Nice vid bro. Loving the farming touch. Next time you do mowing. Throw the mower on the back of the tractor, weight on the front so you won’t have to deal with being bumpy like that.

    I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but there are things called collectibles scattered around the map if you find one and pick it up it will give you 10 grand. In this version of farming simulator they look like glowing balls.
