Great video and thanks for touching on a point I was having a hard time understanding for myself. Mainly, that I'm 51, but I have very little interest in listening to the albums that I loved back when I was in my teens and twenties. You helped me put it together. When I listen to hip-hop, I'm not seeking nostalgia, I'm seeking to be inspired and entertained. I'm inspired and entertained by production that is closer to jazz and boom bap. I want lyrics that speak to my life right now. I've been listening to the Common/PR collabo pretty heavy. Honestly, it's quickly become one of my favorite PR centered albums of all time which refreshing because it's a new release. LL sounds better than he has in decades because he's not chasing trends, he's being age appropriate and his latest music is so much better for it. Yeah, there definitely needs to be more hip-hop categories.
@@nervousallday I'm glad you got it! That shows you, like me, want to still find new music that speaks to us, you're not caught in the past. Some are okay sticking with the old but I want musicians to grow up with me. ✊🏾✊🏾
Cormega is one of my favorite examples of rappers who have grown up with their fans. His subject matter then vs now is mad different and really shows his growth. Also, RIP to Ka. He definitely embodies grown man rap as well.
