Years later, I find this again, and still remember Rin's voice and vocal bends like I was listening to this only yesterday. It still amazes me how far the voice banks have come, to come back to songs like this where people worked so hard to bend the software into expressing something of their human heart, and find that it moves mine just fine. :)
This song gets stuck in my head a lot so reading the lyrics now made me realize that's it bittersweet. The theory is about is if the song is about Rin having to crossdress during a time only boys/men had rights. It goes a lot about flying so it makes me think if she wanted to be a pilot. She can have her dream happen but has to live differently. My guess being called 'skeleton life' is maybe even if she is pretending to be a boy then she knows that all of us are the same. Behind everything, we are all the same: aka having skeletons. Maybe its a bit '2012' to be making theories on Vocaloid songs. That's just what I think on all of us.
So weird to hear how their voice banks used to sound. But strange enough... I still prefer how they sound before compared to now. Yeah people have an easier time to make them express more emotion but yeah. XD
Here's a paragraph you didn't ask for. You can compare it to artstyles I suppose, not perfected in any form and may be distorted but stylistic/ closer to perfection but loses some uniqueness. Honestly I love the imperfect sound of old vocaloid because the style feels like its own thing so I completely agree with you.
I had listened this music when i was a student of middlle school, And I forgot it by time. By chance, Now, I found it and I recognize it. It's like, I met old friend by chance. It would be my favorite sentiment forever.
This song flashes up in my head, then I come back to it, realizing the meaning in the lyrics resonate with me even more than back then. Now it's like a reassuring pat on the back, it's wonderful how a song can do that.
I recognized the title, and was pretty sure this was one of the few songs I had downloaded to my 2011 mp3. Probably listened to it on the bus ride home. But I didn't remember how it went exactly. I was prepared to hear the first two notes or so and immediately remember the whole song, but oh BOY was I not at all prepared for ...idk what exactly that feeling was, but oh man I must have listened to this a /lot./
actually, he said ''teach me how to take in air between strokes'', not about breath… sorry for my ugly English, I wish you could understand! I guess if you already understand the meaning…
I know this song already has a meaning but this is how i like to think of the song (it’s completely different than the actual meaning. Two depressed teenagers like to sneak out at night and stay at a bridge until sunrise. (Sun rising up, frightening and happy) When its morning they go home so their parents don’t find out. Each day they count the hours until sunset so it can become night and they can meet each other again. (Sunsets, fast and quiet) They only have each other to survive in the messed up society, (the sole of my foot is getting numb) so they go to each other for help and advice. (Teach me how to...) I like this meaning because it reminds me of me and my best friend. We don’t sneak out at night or anything, but it kinda feels like we are. Late at night we always talk to each other and it feels like your recieving love. But during the day its a mess.
I thought this was lost to time! I could only remember the animation loop of Rin and Len running and for years could not find what song it went to before spotting it in the thumbnail here!! So glad I found this song again!
Y everyone say Rin runs awkward but nothing about Len look at his running who runs like that?! What is he hold though his hat and what his tie I assume 0.o ? Let's admit it the both run awkwardly…
Some think this song is about rin crossdressing so she can do things as a boy she wouldn't be able to do as a girl. Holding onto the hat to keep long hair from showing and clutching not the tie, but the chest, to hide her breasts. I feel like the fact that when Rin has her eyes open as she sings about her ideal life, as soon as she switches to the chorus, her eyes close and Len's open. She is now able to talk about what she wants to learn to express her ideas freely, because society will not look down on her in her boy clothes.
Well, one of the theories regarding this song is that it's about Rin crossdressing, because she's in a time period where the only way she can act freely (and learn to really "live") is by being a boy. So, Len here would be her alter-ego as a boy. So that's why "he" would look a little girly.
@RinKagamine4Ever It can be interpeted several ways. 1) She's dressing up as a boy to get an education. 2) She's suffering, and she wants to learn how to live her life again. She feels she has to learn how to breathe and feel and love all over again. 3) She looked up to her brother and wanted to learn from him as a child. He's gone, and she's looking back on the bittersweet memories (?).
In the background you can hear Len's voice, obviously representing how Rin has to make herself more "male" by deepening her voice and tying up her hair. The PV features both Rin and Len in steampunk outfits, only when Rin's eyes are open, Len's are closed and vice versa, symbolizing the disguise she must wear."
I had actually read the "Alice Killings" Creepypasta on the suggestion of a friend. Then it mentioned the song. I didn't know much about Vocaloid at the time, but I knew about the characters and stuff, and didn't think much of it. But when I heard that song, it gave me the chills. And I was like, MUST. HEAR. MORE. SONGS.
I love this song so much, I really don't understand completely what it's about, but I love it. I love vocaloids, they're music actually has meaning. (unlike most of the songs here in North America.) Vocaloid songs always (usually) tell a story, some are beautiful, sad, funny, weird, etc But some people judge them because they're in a different language. You don't need to understand it to know a good song, or sense the feeling. (English subs ftw though). Anyways, just expressing how I feel.
That makes a lot of sense. I know very little Japanese and I'm very sad about how little I know, nut in the song Rin says "Boku", which means I. That doesn't really mean much if I say it like that, but "Boku" is a more masculine: however, it is also a childish way to say it. So she is trying to experince the world as a boy because of the inability to do so as a girl. Thank you for making sense of this song, I never knew what it meant but I still would have listened to it otherwise.
My first Vocaloid song is Servant of Evil by the Kagamine twins... cried over it for a week. I didn't have any idea about Vocaloid then, all I know is my heart ached when Len died.
What your teacher should have said is that doing still lifes forces you to really look at things and practice your observation skills. It's about learning how light and shadows fall on different types of shapes, so that you can then use that knowledge when you draw things from your head. This is true for any artstyle, anime included. So work on those still lifes, and it'll help you later on.
Beautiful.I'm surprised...when I first heard that(without knowing the text )it seemed an average, almost boring song to me. But now,I felt like it was inspiring,brilliant...like a soft love song, but with still something more, like a drop of melancholy and joy(or trust..it's not so easy to describe). Ah,and well,I love the musical background during the chorus.
Years later, I find this again, and still remember Rin's voice and vocal bends like I was listening to this only yesterday.
It still amazes me how far the voice banks have come, to come back to songs like this where people worked so hard to bend the software into expressing something of their human heart, and find that it moves mine just fine. :)
Anyone else going through old vocaloid songs and re-falling in love with them or is it just me?
😔✋
Same here. The old song were way better. 🥰
You're not the only one. Same here
I found my old Vocaloid bookmarks and am going through them all. It's like a time capsule.
A bit late but me too
Years later i still think this is my favorite song
Siver I completely agree with you.
Can't say I'm surprised. It has a good melody and makes excellent use of brass instruments.

@@siverfanweedo Same 😔🤝 wait i mean 2021 now!

I was super into Vocaloid growing up and just found this treasure in almost 2023.
Kagamine Ren/Len songs for the win!
I'd really love to hear a remastered version of this song
I like Rin in this key. In other songs, she's all high and squeeky, but in this, her voice is full and expressive. I love it!!
This song was stuck in my head, still is saved on my old computer, and it's thanks to the "aoi sekai de" part that I remembered enough to find it
listening to this song at 3 AM,,, it feels like im floating ⛷

I had listened this music when i was a student of middlle school, And I forgot it by time. By chance, Now, I found it and I recognize it. It's like, I met old friend by chance. It would be my favorite sentiment forever.

Most underrated Rin & Len song ♡

Yeah but right after he says the snorkel so teach me how to breathe [with] the snorkel
Also Len doesn't sing in this song only I do 😘
Honestly, I don't know
I can't breath properly sometimes XP Sometimes I have to take many deep breaths after breathing for a while. SOMETIMES
Smokey Pokey Silly child. He was never alive to begin with. How else to explain all the times he dies? XD
actually, he said ''teach me how to take in air between strokes'', not about breath…
sorry for my ugly English, I wish you could understand!
I guess if you already understand the meaning…
STILL GOOD AFTER ALL THESE YEARS !!! IM JUMPING!!!!
loving the ska genre in this vocaloid song

finally a song that rin's vocals dominate!
I thought this was lost to time! I could only remember the animation loop of Rin and Len running and for years could not find what song it went to before spotting it in the thumbnail here!! So glad I found this song again!
Still love this song so much ❤ been listening to this song for more than half of my life
Dec 2021
For me it's been much less, but I love it as well.
Man, it's been forever since I listened to this! Good memories of this song ^-^
14 years ago...wow! this is still one of the vocaloid songs i find stuck in my head often. such a bittersweet and well made song.
This is still probably my favorite vocaloid song
this song is still a banger after all these years
Y everyone say Rin runs awkward but nothing about Len look at his running who runs like that?! What is he hold though his hat and what his tie I assume 0.o ? Let's admit it the both run awkwardly…
Why wouldn't he hold on to his hat and tie? His hat would fly off and his tie would slap him right in the face.
Heejin's GF
2 years later and this comment still cracks me up
Rachel Bjurstrom
I think they run beautifully
Some think this song is about rin crossdressing so she can do things as a boy she wouldn't be able to do as a girl. Holding onto the hat to keep long hair from showing and clutching not the tie, but the chest, to hide her breasts.

Coming back listening to this banger of a song. It is 2021 and im going to a nostalgia ride. Hello peeps that came back to this song
this is one of the most best rin/len songs for me :)
Love their outfits!
And Rin's voice is so mature in this :D
something about this just makes me feel happy and free even when I am sad ❤️
Well, one of the theories regarding this song is that it's about Rin crossdressing, because she's in a time period where the only way she can act freely (and learn to really "live") is by being a boy. So, Len here would be her alter-ego as a boy.
So that's why "he" would look a little girly.
Plot twist he always looks girly whether or not it's actually Rin.
Imjoking.

Revisiting is always the best part. Love
It's the type of song you want to dance to ^^ And it's great to sing along to.
@RinKagamine4Ever It can be interpeted several ways.
1) She's dressing up as a boy to get an education.
2) She's suffering, and she wants to learn how to live her life again. She feels she has to learn how to breathe and feel and love all over again.

Oh my God, I never noticed the slight deepening part of her voice, I'm such an idiot. Thanks for pointing that out!
