Hua Lamphong railway station. Discover Platform 10 has been featured in local photographers' photo books and the iconic train ride from north to south of Thailand. It has a sleeper function and is a cheaper option than I am taking. While going from Chiang Mai to Bangkok you’ll explore the beautiful scenery and pictures.
I used to take these trains to and from Bangkok station almost everyday some six years ago. They actually planned to stop all services and turn the station into a museum. People protested. So they keep the commuter services running, which are usually packed during the weekday rush hour. So now it's mainly a museum with few trains running. That's also why there are those nice steam locomotives sitting there.
I also took some photos with a small camera during my commute. Watching your video makes me think of those times. One of my best shots is of an elderly woman who carried a huge handheld grass mower up into the train, spilled some gasoline onto the floor, and laid down and slept on the seat right in front of me.
The pain of being in the third class from Chiang Mai to Bangkok though, I've experienced that, only once. It was during a long national holiday. The train was so packed that people were standing without any space left. It was also a night train. Imagine trying to get any sleep in that condition. The sweat, the diesel, the damp air of the night.
Sorry for the long rambling haha. Your storytelling feels organic and natural. It makes my memories on the trains come rushing through. I enjoy your videos and your works. Keep it up!
Hi Frederik - wonderful story to your trip. In Bali they got a saying - you need one woman or six men if you got work to do. So I am not too surprised that the woman with the refreshments does her work for hours and hours.
Thx for making content in a very authentic and passionate form.
I am passionate about trains. Your images have taken me to that station with all its essence. On occasions I have been able to imagine the smell of rail, diesel and wooden sleepers. Wonderful video. Excellent work!
Means a lot. Thanks for sharing!
first
LOL 😄
Such a great video Frederik! That woman in the window shot.. simply amazing ♥︎
Thank you so much! 🖤🖤
Nice photos-I enjoy long train rides-the heat doesn’t bother me especially if you can crack open a window-I might have been too excited to sleep! Thanks for sharing your train ride with us. Cheers!❤
This is an awesome video man. I love your focus on limbs, something that I want to incorporate into my own photography. Obviously special mention for the cat photos hehe
So good to see you with new content Frederik.
Hello, I enjoyed this video, keep going the good work! :) Just a little to 100k!
Thank you!
Tak for turen 📷 Fantastisk video, foto og fortælling
Tak :)!
Enjoyed the video and your photos. Small point it’s not Bangkok Station it’s called Hua Lamphong
Great video Frederik. Your images always connect with me. Thanks man for all your content. 📸🙂
Appreciated mate!
Awesome video mate. Im in Bangkok at the moment shooting my own photography series, this has given me some good inspo! Ive been shooting in Sri Lankan train stations before and I really enjoyed the experience ❤
This is great! I live in Thailand and I was on a similar train ride and every carriage was so full of life and stories and I wish I had taken my camera (that I have barely used and barely know how to use!)
This video has inspired me to get out there and try street photography asap!
I love going on the cheap trains in Thailand and meeting nice people ❤
There was plenty of time for that gaha
Beautiful storytelling and images!
Appreciate it!
Pure class. Love your videos.
Very nice pictures, very interesting
I just hope to see other video from you
Keep the good work
I follow your channel
Thanks a lot!
If you need more experience in Thai trains, try Wong Wien Yai - Maha Chai commuters. At Maha Chai, you walk a bit from station through seafood market then take a ship crossing a river, walk a bit more or motorcycle taxi to Banleam station and take another commuter to Mae Klong station.
Amazing ,i love your way !
Really great to see you posting again..I was down on inspiration. Cheers.
Superb stuff! That's exactly what I will do once retired!
Thanks a lot! You should :)
A nice, inspiering and entertaining video. Lovely pictures love the cat in the train. Waiting for your next video thanx for sharing Tips.
Gonna watch this on the plane back to the Big Smoke! Talk soon brother.
Nice! Safe travels!
Very well done Frederik! Informative and interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant as usual love them.
Thanks a lot!
Thank you Steve!
Just keep doing what your doing, thanks Frederik
I quite enjoyed the video. Amazing work!
damn i needed this.
Love to hear it!
Excellent video - thanks
Thank you!
06:59 that's the money shot.
If only there was such thing as a “money shot” in street photography hahah. Thank you!
I did a model shoot in the station with Daria ( instagram) . Great station btw.
You don't get the same experience in AC carriage and you also have to dress for winter in them. They can be unbelievably cold. C class would be much more bearable with a litlle more anatomically shaped seating. I hope they preserve Hua Lumphong in the current state. It is a jewel
The train ride and statation everythihng looks like Sri Lanka, except the for the people.
The journey was more interesting than the train station
Great description of that train .. I was on it once and it broke and had to walk to a town and catch a cab to Bangkok for a flight.. stress but memorable.. where are those book s you are reading list you mentioned? Curious what you like .. I have a few .. history of Egypt by Bon Brier.. professor is funny and a smart mf .. good luck 🍀 Andrew in Chicago. If you ever pass through town
Yes it was a mess haha.. you’ll find the boos in the TH-cam description with links :)
@@FTrovatten Ok I see them now..I read Shoe Dog ..Masterclass in Japan Business 101 and Keith Richards book was great. Like I said if you wanted a touch of Egypt take a look a Bob Briers book .. Im on the second time round.
the train moved that slow the whole way?
