Just wait till you get to Las Vegas, all those places I recommended will definitely fill you up. Also on Fremont Street, they have The Heart Attack Grill, if you weigh 400 lbs or more you eat for free. Nighttime is the best time to go to Fremont Street, the light shows, bands, street performers, food and drink, it’s the best!
And if you go to Denver Colorado, The Buckhorn Exchange is a great place to eat, and it’s supposed to be haunted as well! 🥩👻👍
Welcome to SF! Little advice, please do not leave your luggage or really important items like passports in the car. There have been a lot of targeted break ins against tourists. Aside from that, we have amazing food and locations! If you want to try one, there's a place called San Tung on Irving St and they're really famous for their spicy/sweet fried chicken. Pair it with the black bean noodles and it's heaven
If they bring food to your table in America before you order your meal, it's always free. Bread and butter, chips and salsa, etc. always free no worries 😁

growing up in america, can confirm i went into a food coma everytime i went out to eat with my family, taking a five minute nap after i ate, while my family was still eating. my mom used to yell at me! but mom, there's something in american food that makes me sleeeepy XD Mexican food is my favorite, even the candies, i feel they compare to Japanese food on a worldwide scale. Candies using tamarind are my favorite!!! The variety of dried chilies that are used in the dishes, are a very special flavor profile, I love mexican and japanese food(ok any asian food)
Yes, go to Mexico!! Visit the pyramid near Mexico City! (Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, Teotihuacán (state of México) and wear a poncho! (its impossible to be unhappy in a poncho)
Tamarindo raspados( ice slushies)are also very yum.

You have to try Portos Bakery. They have multiple locations in LA area but the pastry are a must. Its a family own cuban bakery.
I love that you went to the cheesecake factory the portions are so big and I have heard the appetisers are yummy to like the Mac and cheese balls etc ..The Mexican food and everything looks delish ..Please try authentic Mexican street tacos ..love you guys ..x❤️🥰💕

Tipping is optional, workers get their standard wage 😊
Lot of people prefer the tip wage vs live wage.. Due to people making larger amounts of $$$ through tips. Business near us switched to live wage instead,.. everyone quit lol, as they wanted tips, this was in US.

Birria tacos are a fairly recent thing, maybe the last 5-6 years or so. Mexican food in the US is usually great because Mexican people are doing the cooking. Still, some of the dishes are "Americanized." A good example is that if you find crispy taco shells as an option, that's an American thing. Also, Mexican tacos generally do not have lettuce, tomatoes, cheese or sour cream. If that's what you like, visit Taco Bell! 😆
Birria has actually been a thing for longer. It’s just that it’s now getting popular with all the trends.

Birria has been around for years. I do agree that sour cream is Americanized as where Mexicans prefer using Crema not sour cream.
I'm so glad you two were able to experience the Mexican food in Cali, which is the best in the US. You guys have to try the Mexican seafood like Ceviche, Mexi Shrimp Cocktail, or simply oysters with a Modelo beer.

Ya'll HAVE to find some street tacos! A lot of people like tacos al pastor, but I always preferred bistec and ALWAYS make sure you add limon, grilled onions, cilantro, and habanero salsa. Paying that much for tacos is insane but to be expected from a sit down restaurant like that. Oh and YES please visit Mexico!
The Cheesecake Factory Brown bread blows the white bread out of the water though! Just sayin'. As far as Mexico? It's like San Francisco at night all day. Intercontinental Hotels are generally amazing!
I haven't been home to San Francisco in 3 years so it was absolutely awesome to see you guys go there. I hope it wasn't too crazy there, over the years especially since after 2020 its been a bit rough for the city. My late father grew up there after immigrating so we went to SF a lot growing up, its truly my second home. Despite the craziness its a wonderful city with amazing eats. My dad used to take us on food adventures there and to this day I miss it so much lol.
Hope San Francisco wasn’t too Wild Wild West for you guys. It’s a beautiful city, but sadly it’s turning for the worst these days. Enjoy the rest of your US trip!

We have the sweet’s factory on international drive in Orlando also the toothsome chocolate emporium at universal city walk. Cheesecake Factory is pretty much everywhere so not great. Honestly sweets factory is more for kids as a fun birthday. The chocolate emporium is better as it has a steampunk atmosphere and it’s more fun with the characters going around that are fully steampunk dressed and act Victorian. The characters are a fun factory boss, a lady, and an explorer.

If your near downtown go to little sheep Mongolian hot pot it’s so good! And Chinatown go to R and J lounge they are known for their crab among other things. Also famous restaurants is San Tung their dry fried chicken of famously known as crack chicken by locals. And you have to try Vietnamese influenced Cajun crawfish seafood places such as Crawstation, Cajun house, or the o so famous boiling crab in La or San Jose.

That bread is part of the meal and is not included on the bill. Honestly go with it as you already ordered. Every restaurant gives freebies just what it is depends. Chili’s and Tex-mex places do chips and salsa, Italian places do breadsticks or garlic bread, Chinese places vary but it’s something crunchy, Japanese I’m not sure because I tend to go ramen or sushi which are high turnover places.
Chinese Places do Duck Sauce and Chips... cheese cake factory is not an italian restaurant .. as an American i feel embarrassed at the food they're eating and the prices they're paying.. every item they had at that taco place was $10.. each slice of quesadilla was $10 and it was just plain cheese.. thats the land of high tech workers and socialism for you just add a zero and move the decimal point to the right.
Ramen places generally do not give freebies because it's already fairly cheap. In fancier Japanese places, you might get a few dished of different pickled vegetables like yellow daikon (radish), cabbage and seaweed. Pickles supposedly enhance the appetite.

just know that when we go to cheesecake factory, we expect to take the leftovers home and basically have two meals for the price of one. i don’t know anyone personally here in america that eats the full serving in one sitting 😂

If I go to the Cheesecake Factory, I just have 1/2 the Cheesecake for the entire meal! Thank you very much for saying "San Francisco". BTW. what you had was "Tex-Mex" which had its start in the US-Mexico border area. Even the burrito as we know it now is from San Francisco. Mexican food in Mexico proper is similar, but there are more different dishes (mole, pozole, tamale, tortas, huge varieties of pan dulce. chiapas, chilaquiles, etc. not to mention much more seafood from Veracruz). Of course, you can find tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, etc. Hope that you had nice stay in the Bay Area. (sorry, it's been colder than usual this year).
As usual someone from the Bay Area comes across as over educated. There is no need to compare food made in Mexico with food made from the US. Lol@ trying to use all that terminology for something as simple as food. A more tangible example would be comparing Taco Bell to legit Mexican food. Stick to your mochi. Lol.
For safety reasons....whatever you do, don't go to Oakland. As much as I love the Bay, it's not the same anymore.
Woah, both the cheesecake factory meal and the meal with the tacos were both so expensive, and then you gotta tip the waiter/waitress 20% at that. Is eating out in america usually that expensive? I mean obviously it depends on the resturant, but still 😮 thats crazy to me!

cheesecake factory cheesecake slices have shrunk in size by at least 40% over the past 5 years. :(They used to be massive! now they are noticeably smaller and the price has gone up significantly. i used to be able to share a slice with 3 or 4 other ppl
You guys keep going to the Americanized Mexican restaurants. At least try some carne asada, adobada or pastor fries before you leave

Pay attention to your surroundings in SF, another city where crime is rampant. Lots of big stores closing shop due to rampant theft.
The red velvet cheesecake is my fav, but wow the price has increased! Shame that the Aussie dollar has depreciated so much 😭 I love the food in Mexico it’s so fresh and tasty not like the super cheesy tex mex that you can find in the US. Have fun in San Fran!!
The portion size here in the States is ridiculous! Haven't been to San Francisco since I was a kid. Fisherman's Wharf had good sea food.

We go to SF a few times a year and if we stay in the city this is the hotel we stay at. We also like to stay at the Fairmont Hotel as well.

The best tacos I've ever had were in Mexico. Got fish tacos in a taco truck in Ensanada. SO good!

I highly recommend Mexican food in San Diego. Besides Mexico itself, the Mexican food in San Diego is the best in California. Places like El Prima Birrieria or Taco Machin is great. Also, highly recommend checking out the vineyards in Valle de Guadalupe.
