    One thing I've noticed is we struggle heavily against teams that put on ball pressure. Too much over-penetration, not enough weakside action to occupy help defenders, not enough players cutting when their man overplays them, etc. Teams like the Spurs and Warriors master this which makes them so much fun to watch on offense. I have no idea why the staff can't get our players to do these things. It's basketball 101. I literally pull my hair out every time I see KCP or Lonzo being denied the ball and they back up almost all the way to half court to try to receive a pass instead of just cutting through to the basket.

      Even last year Dlo was only one who would back cut to release the pressure and even he didnt do that often enough. This season? I havent seen anyone who dose it consistently. I have no idea what this coaching staff or arizona ferternity is doing in film session.

      안진성 maybe Lavar does have a point AGAIN!They don't know ho to coach and are SOFT. This team is better than we realize and also very hungry but the rotations are just trash and the play style TRASH.

    This is educational for all the idiots saying Lonzo just passes the ball to the closest guy. You're exposing all of these haters for not knowing what they're talking about.

      Laker Film Room do you ever feel that lonzo needs to keep the ball in his hands longer? Don’t get me wrong I love the kick ahead passes but sometimes I’m like cmon keep the ball and run a P&R with Lopez. Do you feel that way?
      Ps. Love the videos.

    • @LakerFilmRoom
      @LakerFilmRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely. He made a move in the Sacramento game where he came off of the screen, used a hesitation dribble, everyone left him (because he often passes it too quickly) and got fouled on the layup. He missed the free throws (of course), but I was really encouraged by that move. I'd like to see more of that sort of change of pace rather than just giving the ball up quickly every time. That'll open up passing lanes too.
      But all of this is stuff that PGs learn over time.

      Laker Film Room that's true one thing I don't understand is why does it seem like KCP has the green light over Ingram I want to see Ingram be more aggressive, play a little more iso and let him take the ball up the floor just to see how he would handle it

    Really love the videos! Would love to see a Lakers Conspiracy video concerning Clarkson, Randle, and Ingram... Seems like Clarkson and Randle purposefully keep the ball from Ingram sometimes. Ingram will be really warming up and then gets 9 minutes on the floor without touching the ball at the same time Randle and Clarkson each get 5 or 6 shot attempts... Anyways LOVE the videos here! Keep up the good work!

    Good break dwn Pete. So many options within Horns. Hope they run it more often. I'm not particularly into Lopez shooting from 3 as he's not efficient at it. Rather have Kuz as the main option to shoot and or attack close outs. Also, with lol prefer him at the mid range in horns as the option goes to P&R with lopez. He's shown to be a more effective mid range shooter out of that option than a 3 pt shooter from what I've seen. I'd also like to see ZO curl on this option part of the elbow get so he can get his floater off. Lastly, for ZO, I want them to run that play for him as Ingram as the distributor and on the left side where ZO has been a more effective 3pt shooter from what I've seen given his shooting mechanics.

    @jonjeffers5153 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice video. Seems like they need to work on how to run their defenders into the screen. Everyone is going to early, before the screener is set. I feel like Lonzo misses a lot of good backscreens that would get him easy looks at layups (half of which he would most likely miss at this point). Luke might have to bust out some GSW tapes in the film room. Nobody can hang 'em on screens like Klay and Steph.

    Pete you were right on the money with how the Lakers inability to set effective screens makes a really solid play in horns not well executed. My issue with Lonzo is that when he's running horns, since he's the ball handler he's also typically the first screen setter. This is typically a weak screen and begins the play poorly. Thoughts?

    • @LakerFilmRoom
      @LakerFilmRoom  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I think that's a fair critique. But it's so pervasive throughout the team that it isn't just Lonzo, it's everyone, and that's when I start to give side-eye to the coaching staff.

    • @mukundwazhere
      @mukundwazhere 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's very true. I think the Lakers best contact screen setter is Nance, so hopefully having him back in the starting lineup this Monday will help. Thanks as always Pete for responding to fan questions.

    Top 3 wants/wishes for this season.
    1. Lonzo at least gets to 35% FG and give me at least 30% three.. (already not happening lol...)
    2. We trade Deng and since we haven’t seen eye to eye with Randle with contracts we use him as a trade bait to unload Deng.
    3. For the love of god... if brook is playing horrible... DONT PLAY HIM MAKE HIM EARN HIS MINS AND STOP HIM FROM PRETENDING TO BE CURRY
